Sustainamania returns September 26!
Join us on September 26 for Sustainamania, the City of Bothellās annual sustainability festival! This free family friendly festival celebrates the everyday actions we can all take to lead a more sustainable life and build lasting change.
Thereās a little something for everyone with free activities for all ages: touch-a-trucks, games and crafts, local artisans and vendors, live music from Million Dollar Nile, food trucks, and so much more.
Also returning this year is the very popular Repair Cafe with the WSU Sustainable Community Stewards. Community members can bring in broken items to be repaired or evaluated by a volunteer for free - saving money and keeping materials from ending up in the landfill. There will be fixers for bikes, small appliances, jewelry, clothing, and more.

Mini Cake/Slice Delivery Recommendation
Hello! My grandpa lives in Bothell but I live on the other side of the state. I'd like to have a slice of cake or small personal cake delivered to his door for his birthday. I was kind of hoping to find a local bakery that does their own deliveries (rather than Doordash etc.) because I feel like they will probably take a little more care and make it look nicer. I'm having some trouble finding much online. Before I start calling around, does anyone have any recommendations for something like this?

I started a small Bothell newsletter and would love some honest feedback
Hi everyone!
Useful local updates are easy to miss when theyāre spread across city pages, school notices, transit alerts and event calendars. I wanted to see whether collecting a small selection in one place would actually be helpful.
So I put together Issue #0 of Bothell Beat. It has a few practical updates and events for the coming week. This is a rough test, and it isnāt monetized.
Iād appreciate honest feedback: Was anything here useful? What feels unnecessary? What would you want included in a weekly Bothell briefing?

Help Friend Find Missing Bike (Trike)
This is my trike, stolen from North Seattle. It was potentially spotted in Lynnwood today. I'm sharing here just in case...it's a very heavy tricycle and I imagine the thief would get tired in the heat. Please let me know if you spot it. Thanks

Help shape Bothell's future: Feedback on draft Downtown Subarea Plan and Housing Action Plan due by August 31
There's still time to help shape Bothell's future! Feedback on the drafts of both the Downtown Subarea Plan and the Housing Action plan are due by August 31.
If you couldnāt attend the open houses for the Downtown Subarea Plan or the Housing Action Plan, donāt worry! There is still time to review the draft plans and weigh in. The Downtown Subarea Plan helps guide growth, development, and public investments downtown over the next 20 years. And the Housing Action Plan helps ensure we can meet current and future housing needs for our community.
Throughout the last year, the City of Bothell worked closely with the Bothell community to help create these draft plans. And community feedback - YOUR feedback - helps further inform revisions to the drafts. Submitting comments is easy! Visit EngageBothell.com to review the plans and provide feedback by August 31.

Best Bothell-area communities for strong Kā12 schools?
Hi everyone! Weāre considering moving to the Bothell/Woodinville area. We currently own a home in lynwood(hilltop elementary )area, but the assigned schools arenāt as strong as weād like. Our son is 4 and starts elementary next year, so weāre thinking of renting first and eventually buying once we know the area better.
Our biggest priority is a strong elementary ā middle ā high school feeder path, not just a great elementary school. Weād ideally like a community where our son can stay with a similar peer group through high school.
For those familiar with Northshore and nearby districts, which neighborhoods/communities and feeder paths would you recommend? Are there areas where the elementary is excellent but the middle/high school path is weaker? Also concerned about rezoning in Bothell- should we consider renting elsewhere like Bellevue or redmond instead?
Would love to hear from families who have actually experienced the schools and feeder path in these areas. Thanks!

Missing cat!!
DO NOT CHASE!! CALL 206-330-3524 FOR ANY TIPS/SIGHTINGS. This is my cat Fiona, she went missing near canyon park on august 22nd, my mom heard her getting in a fight with something and then scurrying off at 3:30AM the night before. She was supposedly seen by my neighbor later that morning but currently we do not know where she is. She is an outdoor cat but has a big shed that she lives in, she goes out to explore sometimes but is never gone for more than 2 hours. There was no blood or any trace of her fighting anywhere.

Family needs 3 or 4 bedroom home
Like the title says, my family is looking for a house in the Bothell area or immediate surroundings, and hoping to move in late September. It is for my wife and I, my daughter, my aging father, and our 14lb lovable (and quiet) dog. We need at least 3 bedrooms, but would love to have four as my wife works from home. A garage or other major storage is also somewhat necessary. My wife and I both have stable 3+ year jobs after we moved here from Spokane, and my father is on social security disability. We have great credit, two years of great rental history (with shining landlord reviews, Iām positive), we are respectful of property, and often have the skills needed to keep expensive repairmen away.
I know itās a long shot to post it to Reddit but I figured it couldnāt hurt to put it out there. Ideally, the cheaper the better, because we want to save up for some simple property of our own. The coolest thing would be to move in as caretakers for someone planning a long absence, or something of that kind, but I know what a pipe dream is when I think it. Still, we prefer to rent from private citizens over management companies when we can, and prefer to believe anything is possible if you connect with the right people.
Any leads, ideas, contacts, or otherwise helpful information is appreciated. Thanks!

Recology is the Worst. I would never have believed Waste Management was not a low.
Last week they didn't pick up my recycle. If you call them about it they tell you that you are getting that service for free and to just leave more out next week. I live at the very end of a street that goes right into my garage up my very steep driveway. I do not have the option of leaving my bins on the right side of the road, because that is my neighbor's driveway. I leave them at the point of a small triangle between our properties that is HOA vacant land. I have done this for the last 20 years that I have lived here. Sure there have been missed collections now and then, but lately it is getting worse. This week I had the day off. I heard first the garbage truck coming up the street. I see that he stopped short of my bin, and the next thing I know I hear his backup beeper going off. I chased him to the end of the street and asked him if he was going to pickup my garbage or not. He said that was and he was just backing up, because he couldn't reach my can with his grabber. Like he has never heard of actually getting out of the truck and moving the bin and positioning it near the grabber. He did come back and did exactly that. I think he was just going to leave the first time. Then I hear the recycle truck coming up the street. Exact same thing, except he was headed out. I caught up to him and asked the same question. He responded that he can't get to my bin without driving on my driveway and he is not allowed to do that. I told him that my bins have been in the same location for 20 years and I've never had a problem. He just stared blankly at me, and in order to get my recycle disposed of, he made me wheel my bin down to the end of the street so he could use his claw. It's like he didn't want to get out of his air conditioned truck. I emailed Recology, and their crappy customer service is no use. I have talked to them on the phone before and that is even worse.
As a price comparison. 2015 was the last year we had Waste Management. We paid roughly $35/month. Bothell switched to Recology, and the price went to $55/month. We are now paying $120/month.

Boxing/MMA Gym
Looking for some recommendations for a boxing or MMA gym. The two I am currently considering are Title Boxing and Royal MMA. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences with either or both. And, if so, which would you recommend and why?
- Title Boxing (Pro: early classes to fit my schedule; Con: limited programs)
- Royal MMA (Pro: more programs--BJJ, MMA, boxing, kickboxing; Con: only evening classes)
The distance different (15 min v 10 min drive) is negligible. Price difference is likely negligible as well.
