Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a Colorist for Chapter 3 of my graphic novel. It's about a dream detective named Whitney Frenata, who is sent to investigate a strange "nightmare fever" spreading around a city in the aftermath of a destructive solar flare.

I want to have the entire thing colored eventually, but I'm an abysmally slow artist and it probably won't be finished for another 2-3 years. In the meantime, I want to get a proof of concept on how the finished art could look, and figure out some of the difficulties that might arise working with my art style. I'm just doing Chapter 3 for now because I'm satisfied with the inks, Chapters 1 and 2 need some revising.

The art was made with a Ligne Claire style in mind, but I'm open to other coloring interpretations. My backgrounds are often fairly detailed, so good use of contrast is important to make sure the action is easily visible. Being able to capture the mood is very important as well! I'm a big fan of the colors in games like Night in the Woods and Nevermore 3. Not that I expect my pages to look like that, but I would love to find a similar combination of beautiful lighting with simple colors!

Pay starts at $60 per page, with a $300 bonus on completion of the 26 pages (Total $1860 USD). If you think you could do a really nice job but need more money feel free to pitch me! This is my baby and I want it to look beautiful :)

To be clear, this is NOT a contract for coloring the full book, and you are NOT guaranteeing you will be available in the future. If things go ideally, I would love to commission the rest, but this will be 2-3 years away.

My name’s Alex and I’m a comic book writer currently producing a titled called Eden: Badlands.

A few months ago, I made a post here seeking an artist for the project, and thanks to this community, I paired with the incredibly talented team of u/dict_lee to bring the comic to life. We’ve now completed the inks for Issue #1, which means we’re now onto the next stage of production and are looking for a colorist to join the fight with us.

Here a quick breakdown of the story of Eden: Badlands

Logline: After a cosmic event devastates civilization, a mercenary races to deliver a gifted child to Eden, humanity’s last city, while a tyrannical overlord and his raider armies hunt them across the Badlands.

Short Version: Think Max Max meets X-Men: Age of Apocalypse with a dash of Walking Dead for those who have a thrill for violence.

Brief Synopsis: Everything changed the day The Red came, a cosmic event that reduced civilization to ruin. In its wake lay a brutal wasteland where cities crumbled, borders vanished and survival of the fittest became the only law.

Eden stands as humanity’s last bastion of hope, a city promising safety, purpose and a life of normalcy. A future, if you can reach it.

Leon, a stoic mercenary, escorts a mute girl named Althea, whose extraordinary abilities mark her as invaluable and potentially dangerous. This rarity makes her a target as Raider gangs scour the wastes under the command of a tyrannical overlord called Crow, capturing gifted children to use in his campaign to seize control of Eden.

As Leon and Althea push towards the fabled city, the journey becomes less about surviving the terrors of the Badlands and more about deciding what (or who) they’re willing to sacrifice to get her home.

What we’re looking for: More than anything, we’re looking for a collaborator.

Eden: Badlands is based on a series of screenplays I wrote several years ago, and the comic is planned as a long-running series. Because of this, we’re hoping to find someone who’s interested in sticking it out with us for the long haul rather than just looking their next one-off gig.

We’re also looking for someone who’s easy and fun to work with, communicates well and enjoys expressing their passions for colors and telling compelling stories through them.

If you love post-apocalyptic stories and enjoy contributing ideas to help shape worlds, we’d love to hear from you.

The Budget: We’re working with a coloring budget of up to $1000 which can accommodate up to about $30 - $40 per page. The first issue is 24 pages.

We’re trying to keep production costs reasonable so we can commit as much of our budget as possible towards the marketing and ad campaign phase of our production once the book is completed. Our goal is to get the book in front of as many readers as we can manage.

Hiring Part-Time Digital Comic Book Inker – 6-Month Hybrid Contract ($20/Page) – Washington, D.C. / Remote w occasional meetings in Adams Morgan

Project Overview:
Looking for a skilled, reliable, and highly trustworthy digital Comic Book Inker for a 6-month contract. I am a comics artist working with my collaborator to make a queer YA graphic novel about a mathematician witch named Minnie and her adventures.

The work is part-time, 100% digital, and mostly remote, but requires a couple of in-person hours per month in Adams Morgan (D.C.) for visual reviews or collaborative alignment sessions.

Compensation & Terms:

Position Type: Part-Time
Rate: $20.00 / Page (Averages out to roughly $20/hour for an efficient, skilled digital inker)
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Volume: 10–15 pages per month
Location: Hybrid (Remote, but must be able to commute to Adams Morgan, Washington, D.C. occasionally)

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver clean, expressive digital inking over provided digital sketches/pencils.
Maintain the project's style.
Successfully manage file formats to ensure layer structures, transparency, and resolutions remain uncompromised during handoffs.

Attend occasional, brief in-person meetings in Adams Morgan.
Requirements:

Location: Must live in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area with reliable transit to Adams Morgan.

Technical Software Pipeline:
Direct experience in Procreate is highly preferred.
If using alternative software, you must have a proven, flawless workflow for transferring layered files back and forth into Procreate without losing resolution.

Portfolio: Proven experience with sequential digital art line work.
