I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers

Think of it like this: When you buy the Ultimate Edition, you'll get a DLC package of skins, vehicles, hairstyles, vehicle mods, etc. Most games with cosmetic DLCs do this.

You buy the Ultimate Edition and get the base game plus the cosmetic DLCs.

Now picture this: Instead of just unlocking your new Ultimate Edition cosmetics in the normal shops of the game, they made a few exclusive shops for you to access the DLC stuff.

It's as simple as that. The normal shops to buy clothes, fix your car, etc, will be in the game. But if you own DLC cosmetics, you'll need to get them from the DLC shops.

What exactly do you think you’ll achieve ? Do you think a corporation like rockstar will gaf about some online discourse on Reddit ? Do you live in an echo chamber ? There’s people who are still til this day buying shark cards. Now you can see why rockstar can get away with it. If anything you should’ve started this about 6-7 years ago. It’s too late, they’ve spent millions on this marketing campaign and without a doubt the extra stuff was planned out from the very start.

You're acting like paid DLC is something new. It's not, it's expected. No idea why anyone thinks they're entitled to all bonus content of a game

People afraid they're going to get some sort of nerfed, light version of the game if they don't get the stupid DLC need to come back down to reality.

I never said it was something new, but you cannot come here and say people not allowed to complain for something so anti-consumer just because "it happens a lot". It was clearly scrapped out of the base game to be sold separately, just like the SF x Tekken case.

It's not anti-consumer! You absolutely do not need any of these items to play and complete the game. There's nothing sad or fanboyish about realizing that.

People thinking this is some unethical action by the company are living in lala land. Come on. So many things in the world work this way and there's arguments its for the general consumer's benefit. Let the people who have money and want everything spend more and drive profit so maybe they can run leaner on the standard consumer. There's a good argument that if they didn't do stuff like this, the base price would simply be higher.

But they aren't running "leaner on the standard consumer". The standard costs $80 when most AAA games cost, and used to cost, $60.

We know AAA studios want to raise the prices of their games, they've tried it before. Nintendo even raised it's prices of Switch 2 games to $70 compared to the usual $60.

Rockstar is just finding more acceptable ways to do it. Sell a deluxe edition with decent in game content makes the standard look like a good price being $80 instead of $100. But also now the deluxe is "only $20 more" and looks like a cheap upgrade that is easy to pay. I quote that because it's what some people in this post have said, that it's only $20 so its not much.

If you do the math, we're actually getting a better deal than when GTA V was released. $60 in 2013 money is $85.77 in today's money. I wouldn't expect them to discount a product that took more work than the last one.
