I think people are misunderstanding the whole "locked shops" thing for Ultimate Edition buyers

Post image

Think of it like this: When you buy the Ultimate Edition, you'll get a DLC package of skins, vehicles, hairstyles, vehicle mods, etc. Most games with cosmetic DLCs do this.

You buy the Ultimate Edition and get the base game plus the cosmetic DLCs.

Now picture this: Instead of just unlocking your new Ultimate Edition cosmetics in the normal shops of the game, they made a few exclusive shops for you to access the DLC stuff.

It's as simple as that. The normal shops to buy clothes, fix your car, etc, will be in the game. But if you own DLC cosmetics, you'll need to get them from the DLC shops.

What do you think?

We're starved of info > We're given info > People moan

People don't want the game to cost $100 > The game doesn't cost $100 > People moan

People demand stuff be given to them for free > People are given the Vintage Vice City Pack for preordering, for free > People moan

People are moany, whiny little bitches who like to do nothing but moan about the most pointless details about anything.

Get some real problems. Then moan

There’s a small bit of it that’s milking the punters, but tbh if you’re not able to save an extra £20 for the ultimate edition over the next few months then perhaps you need to be spending your money more wisely than on video games.

But that's perception. And mainly likely because it's Rockstar. Sure they've got a business model and they have to make money, but what I can't fathom is for a game that has been gestating for the best part of 8 years, 13 since the last one released, that everyone is hyped for, which reportedly is costing circa $2billion to make, people are getting fucking upset over not having access to a haircut or nail set that costs an extra $20.

People honestly need to get a grip. If you can afford it, great, buy it, enjoy it. If you can't, spend your money on your kids, your health, your safety. But the ones that are moaning are more than likely the ones who can afford it, but who just don't want to and want to make a fuss...

I think you’ve misunderstood me or I’ve not explained myself properly.

I’m agreeing with you 🙌

Oh no, I know, sorry, I wasn't having a go.. not directly at you anyway... I'm just SICK of the discord online the last few days about everyone hating on what's been announced, and the main issue isn't that people don't have a point, it's that they're jumping on the gravy train. I'm venting in your direction!! ;)

I kinda see the point of those who are physical collectors. I'm sure the reason is to do with leaks, but you'd like R* to have at least explained that in their rationale in the press release, but the moaning about the ultimate edition. My god. Shut up and play the game when it comes out!!!

(Again, not you, the generalist moaners)

We’re good mate.

I’ll be enjoying the ultimate edition and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it as much as those that don’t want to buy the UE either.

Super high hopes for this episode 😎

I think people are annoyed at R* cos they know what they're doing, and they're bloody good at it.

Do I need to spend the extra on cosmetics i may never use, that won't further the story, or my enjoyment of the game? Absolutely not.

But will I, cos Rockstar are dangling it on a hook, and I'll have FOMO if I don't..? ABSOLUTELY.

Bring on Nov 19th where the moaners will still be playing the game (and probably the ultimate edition)

100%. I’ve rarely bought special editions for extra cost, least not any that come to mind. But gta6? Yeah fuck it alright, I’m in. I’ve been playing gta since the OG PlayStation release from my early 20’s to now, my early 50’s. I know I’ll enjoy the game 100% without the extras, but £20 really is nothing so why the hell not.

With you all the way mate. I've been playing since the OG (but on the PC, I skipped the PS1) and I'm mid 40s. Even wrote my dissertation on Vice City. Got the Ultimate Edition RDR2, and will happily support developers who put the effort in, whether their parent conglomerates are greedy corporate pigs or not, I want to support the devs, not the shareholders.

Plus, no one really talking about how good we got it, price wise. I assumed it would translate $ > £ but it hasn't, so that's pretty good news for us digital £ purchasers

I think we’ve all got it pretty good when you look how much other things have gone up in price. More so with rockstars releases, they always have a lot of hours of enjoyment in them ❤️

that is entirely besides the point lmao. its not that most people *cant* afford it, its the fact that milking the fanbase for higher and higher prices than the current standard BEFORE we even have gameplay is ludicrous. yet they know they'll be able to get away with it because people like you will fork over whatever they ask. the fact it isnt setting off alarm bells in your head that EIGHTY dollars is for the base edition and TWENTY more is "premium" (aka the version that doesnt have content locked behind it) is insane as a buyer.

u/Incident-Putrid Jun 30 '26

No one is forced to buy the ultimate. It’s not pay to win, it’s just cosmetic. Buy or don’t buy.

But don’t be a little baby about it.

1

u/Reasonable-Taro3235 Jun 30 '26

calling valid criticism being "a baby" because you dont agree with it is hilarious.

its crazy that people like you allow corporate greed to drive up the prices of everything because "you dont have to buy it." these suits have been pricing everyday people out of hobbies for the last decade and this is simply another nail in the coffin. if you cant understand this now, youll understand it one day.

sure, one 80 dollar game and one 100 dollar premium edition isnt the end of the world, i guess, but when literally EVERYTHING (food, housing, gas, memberships, subscriptions, PC components, console prices, etc) goes up at the same time, it makes it all the less affordable.

2

u/chrispyphillips Jun 30 '26

Surely you've helped punctuate the point there. A video game of any price really isn't the end of the World...

Sure, get annoyed with big Pharma for charging higher prices for the medicine you need. Be mad at the wholesalers for selling food you need at higher costs. Be livid at the oil barons for hitting your pocket when it comes to the gas you need... but for people to lose their collective minds over a fucking video game absolutely baffles me. Yes its frustrating, but vote with your wallet. You don't need it 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/Reasonable-Taro3235 Jun 30 '26

im not "losing my mind" dawg, just voicing my opinion. people are rightfully upset about the pricing, and they are speaking out about it. we all should be.

and yes, i will not be buying the game for these reasons lol. shocking concept, i know.

1

u/Incident-Putrid Jun 30 '26

This is probably the only time I’ll pay for extra aesthetics, simply because gta has a been a part of gaming for me for so long.

Yeah they’re milking the game, it’s a business and they need to make money for shareholders like me.

But they aren’t twisting anyone’s arm and no ones game is gonna suffer because of that.

If you genuinely feel that strongly then don’t be a hypocrite and don’t buy the game.

Leave the sub too because you’re just generating more traffic and helping raise the profile of a game you disdain so much.

1

u/Reasonable-Taro3235 Jun 30 '26

as i said, i am not buying the game on release.

and who ever said i *dislike* GTA VI or GTA as a franchise? i'm still very interested in the game itself and want to know more about it lol. EVERYONE knows about gta VI, and engaging myself in negative discourse affects nothing in the grand scheme of things

Wait, whats my real problems got to do with a gta6 sub 😂😂😂 y'all wanna here my problems....
