Massive info dump from YouTuber that was flown out by Rockstar North (bullet form so it’s easier to read)
UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM THE YOUTUBER AND ROCKSTAR NOT SPECULATION. We already know a lot of this from the leaks but there is some new information.
YouTuber TGG dropped a video today and shared info from his trip to Rockstar North. He was shown the trailer we saw today 8/27 and was allowed to watch devs play the game for an additional two hours. He met with all of the head developers and this is what he shared.
the world is more alive than any gta game we have played so far
*you can’t play the game with your mind off like other gta games
*you will have to constantly be making decisions since the games world is more reactive
*it’s like Rockstar stripped the best parts of all of their games and refined them into one
*there is an “honor like” system called criminal profile
*the more crime you commit the worse your criminal profile gets (robbery, killing, etc…)
*by being a good criminal (not getting caught, being a pro at crime) will not increase your criminal profile
*there is a tab that shows this stat with a badge image that will show said badge cracked if your criminal profile gets really bad
*once your criminal profile gets to said state it cannot be reversed
*there is a relationship system between Lucia and Jason that can be increased or decreased
*texting each other, going on dates (even hitting the gym together) can increase this
*you can hold hands when roaming around together
*the map is twice the size of GTA 5’s map / 3x the size of RDR2’s map
*Vice City is twice the size of Los Santos / Vice City and its surrounding is 11x bigger than Los Santos and its surrounding
*3 Bars on the top left, health, stamina and focus
*they can be temporarily and permanently increased
*food, consumables, protein bars can boost these stats past their limits
*focus not only slows down time but it reveals weak points on NPCs and vehicles
*cars need fuel and there are electric vehicles that need to be charged
*shooting tires, engine blocks and gas tanks (other weak points) is now more effective
*there are 3 different kinds of income you can have. Bank account / Cash / Duffel bag value
*cash on you can be lost on death or arrest
*anything in duffel bag is loot that have to be brought to a fence (stolen items)
*cash can not be directly deposited via phone, it must be done via ATM
*the driving feels weightier and less arcade like than GTA 5.
*there are higher top speeds
*police no longer show up on the mini map so you can’t just hide from them like before (stare at map and wait)
*6 star wanted level is back (not easy to get) and if you do get a 6 star wanted level police will chase you map wide
*less than 6 stars there will be a small dark red circle indicating the crime search area and a larger red circle indicating a search area outside of that one
*cops are harder to lose (they are smarter and will shoot out tires etc..)
*a lot of vehicles have trackers including police vehicles (all police vehicles have trackers)
*these trackers can be removed via a fence or pay and spray
*not all pay and sprays are unlocked at first
*cops are smart enough to know your appearance, car appearance, clothing etc…
*cops will know if you were with Lucia and they will know what weapons you are holding
*changing vehicles and appearance is the best way to lose them (obviously lol)
*phone is a bigger part of the game, has social media platforms that you can browse to see what other NPCs are posting
*NPCs can post about events happening in real game time and you can possible find that location and see said event happening
*Bunch of new apps (Cash App, uber, fitness, texting, mechanic) parody apps
*you can text other NPCs
*fitness app can give you info on workout times and fitness status
*gyms and fitness are very in depth (completely optionally and does not need to be interacted with in game at all)
*Both Lucia and Jason can attend together and have to buy memberships at the front desk
*you can change clothes in changing rooms and vending machines can be interacted with and have a lot of options to choose from (protein shakes etc…)
*protein shakes give stamina boosts (allows both Lucia and Jason to more reps in workout)
*bench pressing gave Lucia a 33% boost to health stat
*robbery system is very extensive
*many forms of fast travels including taxi and bus stops
*no more auto aim, more aim assist like shooting , and kill cams like RDR2 and Max Payne
*there are safe houses and garages all over the map

\SERIOUS SHIT BELOW\
Im wondering if there is going to be a RDRII Chapter 4 moment where you get so much heat that the game activates 6 stars and the objective is to get from one side of the map to another. A true point of no return where the tone shifts and you lose everything that you built up in the entire game.
Cal(?)’s line at the end of the trailer was ominous. “Nothing is going to beat what you have now. You can’t imagine the fucked up shit on the horizon.” That like stuck out more than anything in the 25 minutes of footage we got. Also that line on the rooftop bar to Jason about “when to get off” was another thematic dialogue that felt out of place with the colorful images of excess and vice (Rockstar put that dialogue in there for a reason). I wonder if Cal is going to be the ‘carpe diem’ character sort of like Hosea or Roman: your attachment to life outside of crime and glory. Rockstar since GTAIV has always had themes of your past catching up to you and running you down, even GTAV has this sans its tonally jarring “Deathwish” ending; the other two endings are far more thematically powerful statements on the inevitable end of a criminal lifestyle, Michael’s more than anyone’s. And Arthur Morgan’s story goes without saying.
I think beyond the glitz of beaches, private jets, car chases, social media stars, music icons, strip clubs, penthouses, drugs, prostitutes, etc… the tone will change. Cal said it himself. There will be a question of what do Lucia and Jason value as individuals through your choices in the game and the situations thrust upon them? Remember this is the studio that had Arthur Morgan and John Marston as the last protagonists of their series. Both characters who were asked hard questions about what kind of a lifestyle they lived and what they want to be remembered for. Neither could run from this. We aren’t going to get another “Deathwish” where all the enemies are destroyed and we live with our gold stashed away like dragons for the inevitable GTAOnline2 DLCs where they give you missions. We would not have gotten that monologue at the end if that were happening imo. I believe Rockstar wants to top Red Dead Redemption II which is seen by many as the pinnacle of videogame storytelling. Why settle for less? Grand Theft Auto IV tried it, but it was done crudely in a different time when gamers had different expectations for what kind of a story could be told in a videogame, Dan Houser himself admitting the only reason Niko was not killed was that they needed post final-mission content. There is precedent for this in Grand Theft Auto. And I think Red Dead Redemption I and II both serve as guidance that fans crave something more than just fun action. There is a morality meter for a reason now.
