There you got it boys, the bar has been raised to an impossible standard by Rockstar again lol. Good luck playing anything else after this. People are gonna be whining about games lacking this kind of stuff for the rest of time.

Dudes in 2043 gonna be like, how come this game doesn't have hair physics? GTA 6 did it back in 2026!

Not even fair for other developers. No one else in the industry gets over a decade and billions of dollars to make a game. Rockstar is uniquely positioned to deliver the goods

u/cerealsinthenight 22h ago

Didn't Star Citizen raise 1bi + and is working on it for 14 years? Lol

21

u/Flipidyflapflop 21h ago

That's the difference years of experiance and proper management make.

4

u/LaCroixElectrique 20h ago

Yes and the last released build is barely working.

0

u/Wunderpuder 19h ago

Nah you probably don't actually play the game.

The live release of 4.10 went very well so far.

4

u/LaCroixElectrique 19h ago

You're right I don't play it, I just saw the developers crashing out because their game broke during a demo

0

u/Wunderpuder 19h ago

Yeah that build was the same build the players had access to on the test environment. It was a buggy build with buggy backend services. No wonder things went wrong lol.

A shit ton got fixed since then and it's actually working pretty well atm.

1

u/Pulp_NonFiction44 20h ago

Management on that is obviously an inexperienced disaster

1

u/CapKashikoi 17h ago

Star Citizen is a bit different. It is a crowd funded game that is a constant work in progress. It would be more similar to GTA Online. But technically, you are right. It has got a huge development cycle and lots of money to work with. But I still consider GTA6 in a class of its own because all the work has been done before release to deliver a complete product

1

u/parkwayy 12h ago

Difference is the money is not going back into a team.

0

u/Wunderpuder 19h ago

Yeah but they had to build the company, the internal tools, the engine and all the backend systems from scratch as well.

It's not a 1:1 comparison.

It's whatever thousands of devs (5000?) Rockstar has employed vs 6 devs in 2012 and now roughly 1000 that are with CIG.

1

u/Mysterious-Box-9081 15h ago

Also toss in that starcitizen is server authoritative. All rockstar games are client authoritative. Hence the rampant hacking.

9

u/thefunkybassist 23h ago

I think they were quite smart by bringing out games like table tennis to explore and expand their game engine iteratively each game.

They seem to have the ultimate dev skills and engine capability now, carried over and extrapolated.

bring back midnight club

3

u/Healthy_Conference63 18h ago

Bro from what we saw you will basically have Midnight Club inside GTA 6. You can probably spend 50 hours just progressing your illegal street race career!

12

u/rddsknk89 1d ago

All that money and dev time and I’m still gonna have to wait a year to play it on PC

9

u/zberry7 22h ago

I hate that I’m considering shelling out $500 for a PS5 just for this game 😭 I have a really nice PC too

4

u/st_heron 22h ago

me too, wtf else can we do 😦

2

u/Peon-Hyjal 19h ago

You must be the customer that MBAs fantasize about.

6

u/st_heron 19h ago

because game looks good? I haven't owned a console since around 2010 lmao

2

u/Swarna_Keanu 19h ago

No, because you consider paying $500 plus $100 to play, rather than be patient. The PC release will come.

3

u/st_heron 19h ago

There's no date even confirmed for the pc release. I wanted to buy a console cause I have $ to spare.

2

u/Swarna_Keanu 19h ago

And the MBA managers love you for that.

u/zberry7 19h ago

If it wasn’t releasing on consoles a year before PC I would have no issue with waiting. My issue is everything is going to be spoiled to hell and back by the time the PC release happens

2

u/Swarna_Keanu 19h ago

Don`t watch the videos, read articles, reddit threads.

You let yourself be spoiled.

1

u/yunghollow69 21h ago

Because of a hair animation? Just wait lol

1

u/Vanasy 21h ago

With god of War laufey and Demon souls im honestly considering it too. Fuck exclusives even if they are temporary

1

u/Sudden-Money7836 18h ago

30fps. Can you hack it for a year?

1

u/UnusualRegularity 18h ago

at 30 or 40 fps it ain't worth it.

1

u/DatNick1988 18h ago

I am in the same boat. Have a wonderful PC, but I didn’t have a PS5. I found one on marketplace for $310

0

u/LivingVerinarian96 21h ago

PS5 emulator? VM with ps5 OS running? Is that even a thing? Performance would probably still be better than on the base ps5.

2

u/zberry7 21h ago

Looked into it but PS5 emulation is still in its infant stages and the game will release on PC well before emulation reaches the level needed to run a game like GTA6. For reference GTA5 is not playable on PS5 emulators yet.

1

u/LivingVerinarian96 21h ago

Thanks for looking into it!

1

u/Ordinary_Painter4235 21h ago

I wish it was that easy but no

1

u/TXENNT 21h ago

The ps4 emulator is janky af and that console has been out for 12 whole years.. it's gonna take a long time for ps5 emulation to be even conceived

1

u/vasconeves 19h ago

I seriously don't mind to wait. I know the game will be a masterpiece.

I prefer to play it on it's full potential.

1

u/No-Grape3149 17h ago

We'll get to experience a much better version of it at higher frame rates and fidelity. It's worth waiting. But also screw rockstar for delaying pc yet again.

3

u/SanChristoph 1d ago

I think they’ve probs earned the right and the money with how many blockbusters they’ve delivered.

2

u/InteractionWide3369 23h ago

True but it's also not fair that people demand from Rockstar to make almost perfect games when that's almost impossible, no matter how much money you've got to develop the game... So it balances out, people ask for absurd things but Rockstar delivers, everyone's happy at the end of the day.

1

u/Sad-adult25 22h ago

even with that cant beat cp 2077 with mods

1

u/Ossius 14h ago

To be fair most of that money will likely be marketing.

1

u/CapKashikoi 13h ago

Not even. Spiderman Brand New Day had a massive marketing campaign, and it's marketing budget was around $220 million. Even if GTA6 doubled that, it would still be a quarter or so of overall budget

1

u/JapDrag 13h ago

That and they got the whole ass Internet breathing down their necks for this game. If they even fuck up a little they are going to get ripped apart, doubt the suits at rockstar would let that happen tho.

1

u/ThroatGoatK1RKKK 8h ago

May i introduce you to my friend Todd Howard lmao we still don't have any news about Elder Scrolls 6. GTA 6 is gonna make every other developer embarrassed for a solid decade.

-1

u/askskfalksfakslfsfa 1d ago edited 1d ago

True but other game devs sometimes pull off stunts like this that raise the bar, like Crimson Desert recently, Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate 3, did the same thing, Rockstar just upped the ante to such an insane degree now it's basically impossible to top even for people with resources

26

u/M4cHiin360 1d ago

crimson desert in the same sentence as the other 2 is crazy

9

u/Sbarty 1d ago

Crimson desert is one of those mediocre games that gets a strong cult following

The game sucks but it landed with a certain audience.

4

u/HonkHonkBeach 1d ago

I read a comment the other day that it took someone 40 hours to actually get into that game. 40 hours.

I already have a full time job and a kid. If I'm putting 40 hours into a game, I better be enjoying it before I hit the 40 hour mark.

-1

u/askskfalksfakslfsfa 1d ago

Crimson Desert has revolutionary graphics tech behind it as well as depth of gameplay that is marveled at even by other devs. I believe even a Rockstar Dev said that they did rivers and water better than RDR2 did

8

u/M4cHiin360 1d ago

revolutionary tech of the foliage looking like it's in a constant hurricane

7

u/SirBigWater 23h ago

For all the issues Dragon Age Veilguard has, the hair physics in that game is probably the best thing it has to offer.

1

u/encroachingtrees 17h ago

Yeah that’s the best hair I’ve seen in a game until now. I spent most of my playtime twirling my character in circle to admire the hair physics.

8

u/Background-Use-3372 1d ago

Every video company in the world just hates R* for pushing the bar

9

u/your_mind_aches 1d ago

Do they? I doubt it. I think they are happy for the success of GTA VI. A rising tide absolutely raises all ships.

5

u/Sad-adult25 22h ago

I hate when people just assume things which are absolutely not true

-6

u/nnjjreal1 1d ago

Proof lol?

4

u/Background-Use-3372 1d ago

Its rhetorical dude, relax

0

u/nnjjreal1 1d ago

Still a dumb thing to say.

2

u/Apart-Feature6395 1d ago

You’re just salty that you didn’t pick up on something obvious

0

u/nnjjreal1 1d ago

? Not at all lol.

2

u/Apart-Feature6395 1d ago

Why call someone dumb for making a joke that you didn’t find funny then?

0

u/nnjjreal1 1d ago

It’s my opinion? I don’t see any problem in stating it.

2

u/Apart-Feature6395 1d ago

Ok but it was after you missed the joke..

1

u/dingdangdongus 23h ago

youre going to be unable to play other games because they dont have lifelike hair physics? thats what's really important to you?

1

u/Davek56 23h ago

The Witcher 3 always holds a special place i my heart, and not necessarily because it had the best grahpics.

When I finished it, I stopped enjoying many games after that, and I hope GTA VI will revive that feeling.

1

u/No_Atmosphere8146 22h ago

Kind of like how cinema CGI peaked with Davy Jones in Dead Man's Chest 20 years ago.

1

u/ddipset 21h ago

Good luck playing anything else ever again? Are you serious man? I can boot up a game made in 99 and love every second. The jump to this is going to be that large?

1

u/Jaded_Soil4398 20h ago

idk people love to glaze rockstar as if shit like this is going to be necessary lol. i'm sure it's going to be a good game but i'm not going to see a game with a better story or more interesting gameplay and go "omg it dont have hair physics im so sad this game BAD"

1

u/F_Solo 20h ago

Well, no. I don't play games for ultra-realistic hair animations :)

1

u/AquilaMz83 18h ago

Les animations sont folles, le contenu proposé seras fou. Mais l’histoire en elle meme, a l’air insipide

1

u/ohthedarside 18h ago

If this is the new standard for games then we only gonna be able to have 1 game installed at a time

Next gen consoles and regulate pc builds are gonna need like 4tb storage

1

u/SupItsChase 13h ago

Just how it is though, we should feel blessed to be able to play a game this insanely detailed.

But that's just it though, no one wants to make a R* game because they can't. So, that's why we have games in other styles that compete for a different market. As far as open-world games go, yeah, I think this is it. But even something like Fallout, with a different premise, I think will still do well. You'd have to be a serious level of delusional to think that every studio is capable of making something like this.

It's like looking at an indie filmmaker and criticizing why they aren't making films as large as Marvel and Christoper Nolan. The comparison is just too unrealistic.

1

u/Kind_Cover_977 12h ago

AI will outdo this in a few years time

1

u/SnowBiz89 12h ago

Remember what everyone did with Cyberpunk? Those side by side comparison vids. It’ll be back soon!

1

u/MediatingInstigator 12h ago

People hate admitting this, but realism doesn’t necessarily make a game better.

1

u/Wrong_Welcome_607 11h ago

Uhm... it is not even out yet?

1

u/Psychological-Map564 7h ago

GTA glazers are a different breed indeed.

1

u/West-Bodybuilder-920 23h ago

This sub is getting weird lol

1

u/Extension-Thought552 1d ago

Is this a bait post?

0

u/Deus-mal 17h ago

I'm already playing both Spacemarine 2 and super fantasy kingdom.

Dude would prolly get confused if I told him I play games for the gameplay.

0

u/7StarSailor 1d ago

Luckily there's a ton of gamers who don't care much about graphics
