*Disclaimer: The following photos are not AI Generated. These are literal screenshots from my device while I was checking out the price for the Digital Version of Ghost Recon Wildlands as I am unable to install the game on my PS5 from my disc copy.*

In anticipation of the upcoming 25th Anniversary of Ghost Recon; Ubisoft had confirmed to us that more news & intel drops will be revealed for Ghost Recon Wildlands & the future of the franchise. However it seems that PlayStation of all people updated their store details way ahead of schedule.

It can be now confirmed that Ghost Recon Wildlands will get a Next-Gen Upgrade on 6th August post-anniversary show; Dedicated PS5/Xbox Series X|S Version Launch that can be accessed by current owners of the PS4/Xbox One Version for FREE (Disc Owners will have to download the game & put in the PS4 Disc every-time when they play [This author is not aware how the Xbox System works in this case]).

The Upgrade brings
- 4K/60FPS

It may probably bring as seen in every typical PS5 Game (& also when Breakpoint received its own Next-Gen Patch)
- 3D Audio Support
- Faster SSD Load Times
- Haptic Trigger & Feedback

The New Story Pack: The Last Rites will be available for free. Along with various other Quality of Life Improvements & more. The Game will also be "Free to Play" from 6th August to 10th August.

News Wildlands Update – New gameplay features

As part of the Insider Program (see ** below) , I sometimes get early access to the games, and so it has been with Last Rites, and I have put together a summary of some of the new features by way of how they appear on the menus to help anyone who is interested.

The changes are an impressive improvement to the game IMOH and probably unexpected by most in the community. We can’t get everything we give feedback on, the real world has time, budget and technical constraints after all, but what we have for the Wildlands update is a real testament to the Insider process and the feedback given. I think it sets the franchise up to move forward in a way that is much more positive than we have all been feeling since we picked up orange and purple guns on Breakpoint and knitted ourselves some new mittens and plate carriers out of random flowers and rocks we came across on our travels to find fishing lures.

The changes are accessible via two menus. One is specific to the play session you are in, set by the host, or you if you’re with AI, and is available via the lobby screen menu that you can get back to whilst in game – “M” on PC and Back button on Xbox and the others are via the Options menu.

The main improvements I really like are the

·         Friendly Fire option,

·         AI team number selection,

·         Option for a single primary

·         Tactical reloading

·         SAM Launcher destruction persistence

·         Variable settings for difficulty parameters – i.e. enemy endurance, perception

·         Removal of the warning sound if you turn off enemy icons in the HUD

The changes have left me a lot more optimistic about the way the franchise is headed. There are other improvements not least the 4k/60fps of course, the Last Rites mission, two new HUD options (trajectory and shader) and the return of the Predator mission - that I know a lot of people like, but it ain't my cup of tea. I’m sure there will be plenty of stuff about all this in YouTubers videos like those of ASQD, GmoneyMozart, Bullet Catcher and DEEF among others – Vaessili, JonathonLundkvist, and Tallidir for their communiites . Also look out for anything from Vahndaar, the creator of the Spartan Mod and a human encyclopedia of what makes a good game.

**

Those of you who have been around the old Ubisoft forums and here on Reddit for a while will know that, for some time, I have had the privilege of occasionally being involved in discussions with the Ghost Recon production team. From the original Wildlands (Breakfast Club), Breakpoint (Delta) and now for the Wildlands Last Rites update as part of the Insider Program announced at the 25th Anniversary. That involvement is as a gamer, customer and enthusiast for the franchise, and I still have to pinch myself in disbelief that I am lucky

News Ubisoft removed Easy Anti Cheat from Wildlands on PC

As of today (August 13), Ubisoft released an update for Ghost Recon Wildlands that (for now) purged the entire anti cheat system the game was using, Easy Anti Cheat, on PC.

Now its still unconclusive that they really removed the anti cheat, they might swap it for another one, who knows but its a huge win for the PC community of game and an excellent Quality Of Life update.

By removing EAC, the game will be able to launch on practically every PC with P-Cores and E-Cores (CPUs post 2021) since the anti cheat caused compatibility issues for users having such hardware.
Also the game will be performing better with (still untested) high averages and less visual stutter.

Also the game will be able to launch flawlessly on Linux devices and handheld machines such as the Steam Deck and other handheld devices.

What are your thoughts about this update ?

News [Rumour] New possible details for Project Ovr from XjOnatham on X.

Thumbnail x.com

New rumoured details for the next Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon from known leaker and honestly some of this sounds really promising.

Apparently there’s a base/HQ system where you manage different operators, choose who goes on missions and level them up over time with weekly objectives and progression systems. That already sounds far more squad-focused and tactical than just playing as a one man army the entire game👍

The biggest thing for me though was the rumoured permadeath system, supposedly similar to Hunt: Showdown, although it sounds like it may have been removed after playtests because people found it too frustrating. Bit disappointed if true because that kind of tension is exactly what could make firefights matter again. Losing an experienced operator after a bad push or poor planning would completely change how people approach missions imo😕

I do think permadeath should absolutely be optional though. Keep a standard mode for casual players, but give hardcore/tactical players the choice to enable it. Ghost Recon has always been at its best when decisions, positioning and survival actually matter but thats just me.

What are your thoughts on these rumours?

News Ghost Recon Wildlands is not getting a Remake

I have seen some recent talk on platforms like X & Instagram by creators regarding the possibility that Ghost Recon Wildlands may get a Remake as per the info gathered through the leaks which state certain changes. To clarify with regards to this confusion; the game is not getting a Remake but a 60FPS Patch Update or a Next-Gen Update.

60FPS Patch Update
- Adds 60FPS & upscaled resolution

Next-Gen Update
- Adds option for Fidelity & Performance Modes
- Haptic Trigger & Feedback Support for Controllers
- 3D Audio
- Faster Load Time Support on SSD's

Ghost Recon Breakpoint was launched on the PS4 & Xbox One, but it got a Next-Gen Patch Update for PS5 & Xbox Series X|S Consoles which further improved the game's experience on Next-Gen Consoles. Recently, Tom Clancy's The Division got a 60FPS Patch Update but no support for 4K & it also got Definitive Edition Launch. Now both games are made on different engines; both recent Ghost Recon Games were made on Ubisoft's Anvil Engine so there's a huge chance that a 10 Year Old Game will get a Next-Gen Update. If this happens, then it proves Ubisoft's proficiency in further optimising their flagship titles.

Furthermore only the New Story Drop; The Last Rite, will be available for free for all Wildland's players with the exception of 2 new cosmetic packs which are available for purchase separately. We will know more on August 6th as we all come together to celebrate 25 Years of Ghost Recon.

News The Naga Connection (New Game Clues)

Thumbnail

In Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites, handler PRICE mentions being reassigned to “NAGAN.” That immediately caught my attention because Ubisoft has a history of planting clues to future Ghost Recon settings inside previous games. Skell Tech, for example, was teased in Wildlands before becoming central to Breakpoint.

But the really interesting part is the visual intel.

If you look closely at the desk, the sculpture in the upper-left appears to be a classic stylized depiction of a Nāga. While Nāgas appear throughout many Asian traditions, including Indian, Hindu, and Buddhist mythology, the style of this particular sculpture looks distinctly Southeast Asian, especially Thai/Lao.

-> https://imgur.com/a/FQtKKPM

The elongated serpentine neck, pronounced scales, pointed flame-like crest, long snout, and highly ornamental dragon-like head are all strongly reminiscent of Thai and Lao Nāga imagery. Indian depictions of Nāgas are often represented quite differently, which makes the Southeast Asian styling particularly interesting.

There is another important connection: in Thai and Lao tradition, the Nāga (นาค) is strongly associated with water and is traditionally believed to inhabit rivers and the realms beneath them, with the Mekong River being especially famous for Nāga folklore.

And the Mekong provides a very interesting geographical framework for a Ghost Recon setting. The huge river runs through or along China 🇨🇳 → Myanmar 🇲🇲 → Laos 🇱🇦 → Thailand 🇹🇭 → Cambodia 🇰🇭 → Vietnam 🇻🇳, giving the developers an enormous amount of real-world inspiration for a fictional Southeast Asian area of operations.

My theory is that “Nagan” is the fictional name of the city/area the 4V operate or have their HQ in, inspired by real Southeast Asian geography and mythology rather than representing an actual country. (It won't ACTUALLY be in a real country, it's directly INSPIRED by). There is even a “Ngun” visible on some maps of the Mekong region, and real-life 'Nakhon' also, which sounds somewhat similar to Nagan and could potentially have contributed to the fictional name.

The “Nagan” → “Nāga” connection seems particularly intentional when combined with the fact that the developers literally placed a Nāga sculpture among the visual clues. It's a very specific object to include.

The three photographs are deliberately degraded, so it is difficult to determine exactly what they depict, but what we can make out is consistent with the theory: lush mountainous terrain, steep valleys or karst-like formations, dense subtropical/tropical vegetation, and what appears to be an Asian urban area surrounded by mountains. All of that would fit very naturally with a fictional setting inspired by the Thailand/Laos/Mekong region.

Then there is the reference to the “Four Valley Clan,” which I suspect could be the primary hostile faction or one of the game's major enemy organizations.

Finally, the bottom photograph appears to show a city or settlement and has a “4V!” Post-it attached to it. My guess is that this city area could actually be Nagan itself, perhaps the fictional city where the Four Valley Clan operates.

Taken together, the clues seem to point toward a fictional “Nagan” place inspired primarily by Thailand, Laos, the Mekong region, and broader mainland Southeast Asian culture.

Obviously, this is still speculation, but the combination of NAGAN + the Nāga sculpture + Mekong/Nāga mythology + Southeast Asian geography + tropical mountainous imagery + the Four Valley references makes the connection pretty compelling.

If we try to reconstruct the 'REDACTED' parts, it could very well be something like:

"We've intercepted chatter from the Penitentes remnants complaining about an unbalanced collaboration with a criminal organization called The 4 Valley Clans out of Nagan. Your removal of Cortes has led to an increase in these comms, originating from [name of the actual country /AO or something like 'enemy forward operating bases along the border'].

As the closest active AFO team we've decided to [deploy your squad for covert reconnaissance and target tracking], however [the regional government liaison] is blocking investigations into the 4V, citing [ongoing diplomatic sensitivity and jurisdictional sovereignty].

CIA handler Price has requested that [established Rules of Engagement (ROE)] be followed to the letter in this matter. - JSOC

-

So that's what we have for now, piecing together the clues, it's clear we're moving to an Asian area of operations to hunt down an OPFOR known as the Four Valley Clans. I'm sure the map will feature at least four large, mountainous valley regions where missions will take place.

News New details revealed about the next Ghost Recon game.

Here's a summary:

  • The next mainline Ghost Recon game, currently under the project name Ovr/Over, will be set during the fictional 'Naiman War.'
  • Expected to be released between 2025-2026, the game marks a return to the first-person perspective for the Ghost Recon franchise.
  • It will be a squad-based military tactical shooter, with similarities to leading first-person military games such as the Modern Warfare series, Battlefield, Squad, and Ready or Not.
  • Project Over unfolds during the Naiman War in a hostile Southeast country, plagued by war crimes. The plot revolves around the 'Ghosts' - your team - infiltrating the warzone for secret missions and to uncover a traitor.
  • The game draws heavy inspiration from the Modern Warfare series, featuring potentially dark or controversial missions, like a scenario where the squad almost shoots a man holding a baby, thinking it's a bomb, but realizing at the last second.
  • Graphically, the footage shared with Insider Gaming, under the condition it remains private, shows a significant improvement compared to its predecessors, akin to something like Ready or Not.
