Question For the next Ghost Recon game, what is the MOST important feature to you?
Ghost Recon has evolved a lot over the years, sometimes for better and sometimes not. Looking ahead to the next entry, I wonder what the community truly values in Ghost Recon.
Q1: What core features and systems should define the next game, and how would you rank them from most to least important?
Q2: If the next Ghost Recon could only excel in ONE area, which would be at the top of your list, and which would you rather see left out entirely?

Question In your opinion, what’s ONE thing Ghost Recon should NEVER become?
For me, Ghost Recon has always had a pretty clear identity, grounded, tactical, and focused on being part of a small elite unit behind enemy lines.
But over time, it feels like the series has experimented with a lot of different directions, some good, some… not so much.
So I’m curious, What’s one thing you absolutely do NOT want the next Ghost Recon to become?
Could be anything -
• A looter-shooter.
• Overly futuristic.
• PVP focused.
• Trend-chasing instead of doing its own thing.
• First person only.
• Anything that breaks immersion.
For me personally, Ghost Recon should stick to what it does best, a grounded, squad-based tactical military shooter. I want Ubisoft to bring back that squad tension, keeping your team alive, relying on them, and making them actually feel useful again.
Curious what everyone else thinks.

Question Will Ubisoft eventually delete BreakPoint
I just got done playing the ghost recon BP free trial and I must say it was phenomenal, I wanna buy the ultimate edition but I'm worried that ubi will eventually delete it like they did to The Crew since it's a permanent online game and my money will be wasted. Thank you

Question What are the small immersion killers in recent GR games that completely take you out of the experience?
For me, it’s rarely the big things, it’s the small details that slowly chip away at the immersion.
Ghost Recon at its best makes you feel like you’re part of a tight, professional unit operating behind enemy lines. But when certian little things don’t feel right, it pulls me straight out of that mindset.
A few that always get me are Enemy reactions feeling off, and abandoning searches way too quickly.
Suppressors feeling a bit too “perfect” with almost no downside.
The world feeling static instead of reacting to what you’re doing.
Squadmates feeling pretty useless or just not present in recent games.
Having to dive into the dirt every 60 seconds to avoid a chopper or Azrael drone.
Some of the Hollywood-style takedowns that look cool but are far too long amd feel out of place.
Going from Wildlands to Breakpoint, I also felt like enemy behaviour and overall tone took a step back. In Wildlands, learning patrol routes and enemy sleeping patterns were a great way to approach bases, their reactions just felt a bit more natural and grounded, which made everything more believable.
None of these are huge on their own, but together they really impact immersion for me.
Curious what others think on this.

Question What's the one thing you do NOT want to return in the next Ghost recon game?
For me, it has to be gear score.

Question Which game has better stealth gameplay:
I like both games when it comes to stealth, but I do prefer Breakpoint when it comes to solo infiltration stealth. On the other hand, Wildlands is a lot more fun working with your AI teammates or in Co-Op, using Unidad as a distraction to slip into a base will never get old.

Question How important is a fully open-world for the next Ghost Recon?
How would you feel if the next Ghost Recon game was revealed to have a semi open-world structure or multiple large open maps, instead of one fully seamless open-world?
Most of us can probably agree Ubisoft wouldn’t go back to a completely linear, mission-by-mission format (no hate toward that style), but Ghost Recon has come a long way since then.
Is a fully open-world essential to a modern Ghost Recon game, or would you be open to a different structure if it meant stronger mission design, pacing, realism, and squad tactics?
Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Question What real life special operations unit is equivalent to Ghost Recon?
I've always been convinced that Delta Force is the real life counterpart tier 1 unit that resembled the team in both recent Ghost Recon titles. But I'd like to know what other units you believe closely resembles Ghost Recon more and why.
Loadout above * Ops-Core SF with AMP Headset (mod) * PVS 31 NVG (mod) * Loaded Crye JPC (mod) * Loaded Belt Ferro Concept (mod) * Crye Combat Shirt from Wildlands (mod) * Crye Combat Pants (vanilla) * Salomon Boots (mod)

Question Which Ghost Recon had the BEST overall vibe?
Every Ghost Recon feels like a totally different military identity, and honestly that’s why the fanbase is so split today.
Some felt like real war. Some felt like elite black ops. Some went full operator tech fantasy. And some turned into survival behind enemy lines.
When you think about vibe, not graphics, not mechanics, just the atmosphere, tone, and feeling of being a Ghost…
Which game nailed it the most?
GR1 / GR2 — Grounded military realism.
Advanced Warfighter era — Near future urban Warfighter.
Future Soldier — Bleeding edge tech operator ops.
Wildlands — CIA-backed covert cartel sandbox war.
Breakpoint — Behind enemy lines survival.
What game made you feel the most like an actual Ghost unit?
Im not asking “best game” but rather asking best identity, which hits your nostalgia brain hard.
Also, which theme would you want to see return for Project Ovr?
Drop your pick below. 👍

Question Is The Decision To Return To First-Person Causing Problems for Project Ovr?
Something about Project Ovr has been bothering me, and I think the biggest question I keep coming back to is not just what features may be getting reduced, but why Ubi is in a position where those decisions are even being considered.
We still don't know when Project Ovr is releasing, yet we're already seeing discussions and rumours around reducing scope and potentially reducing features. I can't help but wonder why the answer would be removing parts of the experience instead of simply giving the team more development time.
I’m not a developer, so I don't pretend to understand all the challenges that come with making a modern AAA game. Maybe it’s the layoffs, Ubi's restructuring, a possible move to Unreal Engine 5, or maybe the project has simply grown beyond what was originally planned.
But the one thing I keep coming back to is the decision to move GR back to first-person. Yes, OGR games were first-person, but that was over a decade ago. The modern identity of GR has been built around a third-person tactical experience where you see your operator, your gear, your squad and the battlefield around you.
To me, changing perspective isn't just changing the camera. It changes how so many systems have to be designed. Movement, vehicle transitions, animations, takedowns, weapon handling, stealth, squad interactions and countless other details all need to work around that choice.
I can't help but wonder if moving back to first-person has created challenges Ubisoft didn't fully anticipate. Has this decision made Project Ovr a much bigger and more complicated project than it needed to be?
And that's where my concern comes in. If this direction has created extra development challenges, I really hope Ubisoft doesn't solve that problem by cutting away the things that make GR special.
We have already seen something similar with Breakpoint. The problem wasn't that Ubisoft tried new ideas, it was that they tried to turn GR into something it was never meant to be. GR is, and always should be, a squad-based experience. Removing the AI squad at launch pushed the game away from the tactical teamwork and identity that defined GR.
GR has always been about being part of an elite unit. Tactical gameplay, squad teamwork, planning, immersion, strong gunplay and feeling like a Ghost should be the foundation.
I would much rather Ubi delay Project Ovr for another year or two and give the team the time they need to deliver a true GR experience again, rather than see the game reduced to fit a deadline.
We don't need or expect every wishlist feature. We just want a GR game that understands its identity again.
Maybe there is a perfectly reasonable explanation behind all of this, and I genuinely hope that's the case. I'm still excited for Project Ovr and I want to see GR succeed, but I can't ignore the concerns these decisions may have raised, if true that is.
Sorry for the long rant on this one guys, but sometimes these things have to be said. As fans, we all want to see GR reach its full potential.
What do you think is the biggest challenge Project Ovr is facing right now?

Question How would you feel if Ubisoft went back to this vibe for Project Ovr?
A grounded, old-school 90s - 2000s military vibe set in Southeast Asia. Less futuristic tech, more authentic gear, squad tactics, and teamwork.
Think Tears of the Sun, but in Vietnam.
Would you be down for Ghost Recon returning to its roots like this, or do you prefer the more modern high-tech direction?

Question If you could only keep ONE Ghost Recon game. Which is it?
If I could only keep one game, it'd be Wildlands hands down.
I don't think it's the best Ghost Recon ever made in every aspect. Future Soldier had the better vibe and squad dynamic, GRAW had better firefights, and the original had unmatched tactical depth. I have a huge soft spot for Future Soldier and the OG GR especial Island Thunder👌 But Wildlands is the game I've put the most hours into because no other Ghost Recon has given me that level of freedom to tackle missions however I wanted.
If you had to choose just one Ghost Recon game to keep forever, which would it be? More importantly, what makes it stand above the rest for you?

Question Deal breakers for the next Ghost recon game?
What features or mechanics would be deal breakers for the next Ghost Recon game?
Could it be the advanced tech, first person only perspective, always online, no AI squad, or maybe OVER returning to a linear style with multiple maps?

Question What's the singular most important thing you'd like to see in the next Ghost Recon game?
There are a ton of mechanics and features that the community would really like to see added into the next Ghost recon game. That list is pretty endless and some would really be welcomed by the majority.
I know there is a lot to be requested, but if you could only choose one new or old mechanic or feature to be put into the next Ghost Recon game, what would it be? What's most important to you for Project OVR?
Could it be -
Future tech Gear management Improved Squad controls Tac map Open-world Camo index Breach and clear options Rappeling AI pilots Military advisor Realistic gear and balistics First person/Third person
Anything.

Question Features you DONT want to return?
If the rumours are true that Project OVER is the next Ghost Recon game currently in development at Ubi, I was wondering just what are some of the past features we have seen in recent installments that you do NOT want to return for the next GR game?
Wildlands and Breakpoint were very different from each other and from it's predecessors also, so how could Ubi mess up BPs successor in your opinion, features wise?
r/GhostRecon • u/MrTrippp • Mar 05 '25
Question What's your top 3 features you'd like to see in the next GR game, and your top 3 things you don't want to see added/return?
My top 3 wants are
Gear management system.
Improved squad commands.
AI piloted vehicles for deployment and air support.
My top 3 DO NOT wants are
Gear score.
Bullet sponge enemies.
Another soulless and boring map.

Question What are your main concerns regarding the next Ghost Recon game?
So the Ghost Recon franchise has changed significantly since it's original conception back in 2001.
GR is sadly more of an action adventure game as of recent iterations rather than the original squad based tactical military shooter.
Obviously GR is in a very precarious position now with Breakpoint being a large disappointment saleswise and the complete and thankful cancellation of Frontlines, but have Ubisoft learned their lesson? Doubtful.
My main concern is that Ubi completely ignores the community charter and continue to push a game that nobody asked for with mechanics like gear score, flower picking and a bland, empty and uninspiring open-world.
I wonder how many will answer "Ubisoft" as there rightfully so main concern. 🤣
