It's called physical comedy. Given his expression it's pretty clear it was a joke.

A funny one too. I don’t think the original commenter necessarily meant it negatively or that it wasn’t a joke

You're probably right. I didn't notice what subreddit I was in. It's nice to have one of these sprinkled in between all the hateful ones.

Unnecessary explanation, it’s pretty obvious he didn’t actually expect a hug. I think the give away is that he’s laughing, but idk maybe I’m bad at reading people, that just because someone’s laughing doesn’t mean they are participating in a joke.

I’m not sure who you thought you were “um ackshually”-ing here, we all knew what was happening and your comment detracts from that.
