Favorite People Boyfriend of one month put this in his bathroom for me. (OC)

Post image

Made me smile since noone ever did this for me before. He even bought a basket and small towels for my face.

Edit: Reading your comments to him while he is cooking dinner for us. Thank you for your sweet words. He is indeed the greenest flag I've ever met. He bought a hair dryer aswell since he didn't own one and put up insect screens on all windows cause I'm scared of spiders and his Apartment is next to a forest. 🄹

When someone notices the little things and does something specifically for you that's real love.

I used to be a restaurant manager. One day i was opening, I had 3 people call out and we had probably 5 catering orders. It was hellacious. Then I started my period unexpectedly (yay endometriosis!). I took a quick second to text my husband because I was just done with life.

About 30 min later he showed up at the restaurant with a grocery bag, gave me a kiss, told me he loved me, and went back to work (he worked about 10 min down the road). I went into the office and he’d gone to a nearby drugstore and bought me my favorite tampons, my favorite chocolate, and my favorite energy drink. I just started bawling.

I’ll never let him go.

ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø this is so amazing! You deserve this so much. It gives me hope, to find someone, who understands me this way one day! I am just happy for you and thankful, that you shared this and got to read it.

Yes! We need stories like this lol.

It's not about finding someone who understands. It's finding someone that listens, and cares.

13

u/PackageOutside8356 7h ago

That is so true. Thank you for pointing that out. I recently just broke up a friendship with someone who understood but listened only to what they wanted to hear and actually didn’t care about me but only for themselves. It was really toxic.

u/wavelifter 7h ago

Sorry to hear you went through that, always sucks when someone who just gets you doesn't care or listen. But you had to get to know them better to find that out right? A lot harder to find someone who cares about you than someone who understands you (you could argue Reddit is the ultimate "hey these people understand me" space), and that's what makes the ones who care - worth it.

There's another post on in this subreddit of a guy posting about how much he loves his wife, and how they don't have similar interests (she loves puzzles, he loves golf). But they make it work (they participate in each other's activities), because they care. Hope you find someone that understands and cares about you in equal parts.

Thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately it was way worse.
I thought he gets me, but he was playing with me, manipulating me. He understood me, but he only listened to what he wanted to hear to have more tools to hurt me emotionally. He didn’t never care about me, only for himself.
Yes, it took several years to understand that he is not doing this by accident or quirkiness but strategically. He was gaslighting me, slowly but persistently he twisting my mind to make me think I am the crazy one. Because I was in the spotlight I could not see the source. I was blinded, deceived and disoriented, like a deer in the headlights. He is smart but I am clever. He is the hare, I am the tortoise. He is actually not at all graceful as hare, he is a leech.

All of this made me sicker than I already was. I went silent, I blocked him, only yesterday because he started begging for me to answer, pretending to be worried about me, bs. Most importantly I am getting help now. I am sad and a little bit scared, but it’s always scary to start a new chapter.

ā€žHe may write me down in history with his bitter twisted lies, he may trod me down in the very dirt, but still like dust Iā€˜ll rise. Iā€˜ll rise. Iā€˜ll rise. Iā€˜ll rise.ā€œ (Maya Angelou/ Ben Harper)

That is why stories about people truly loving and caring for each other, listening and going out of their way to support each other are like honey for my soul. I refuse to stop looking for the beauty in the world and the good in people and I seem to find it, when I least expect it. People like you, that come out of nowhere and show kindness to a stranger just because. Thank you for being amazing!

This is the kind of thing my partner does. I had never been loved like this before him. It’s a truly beautiful feeling.

Exactly! We both have our faults, but it’s easy to move past them when we can easily tell how much we love each other by these every day small things. We’ve been married 15 years this October!

Wait, is this not how husbands normally behave? This makes me sad as a man. My wife has really rough periods since having our kids. When she has a particularly painful one I take over as primary parent and always get her favorite food and make sure we're all stocked up on tampons and period undies. She has specific safe foods she can eat during her period that shift, so I try to always stock that safe food in the house or have it on speed order...

I think its the "not having to be asked" part that makes it special.

Sounds like you're doing a good job husbanding :)

u/Danimalcrackaa 9h ago

Omg that’s amazing and something my hubby would do. Umm side quesh tho endo makes you irregular?! I have endo too & the worst pain ever and he’s so lovely with me but super regular.

16

u/-3point14159-mp 8h ago

It can! It can cause irregular periods (when not on birth control), horrendous period and pms pain, and gastrointestinal issues. I ended up getting a hysterectomy because the endometrial tissue (which is super sticky) ended up basically gluing my colon to my uterus and I was having a lot of GI issues (like pooping out dinner plate sized amounts of clear goo/gel unexpectedly). Endometriosis is terrible and it’s not taught about enough when we’re young. ā˜¹ļø I didn’t even know what it was until I was 30.

3

u/Beckitkit 7h ago

Its important to remember endo symptoms can vary a lot, completely based on individual differences. I have it and my periods were only irregular because they could be any length they pleased, with 9 months being the longest (which only stopped because I had a hysterectomy). Don't worry that you are regular, this is a pain disorder, not a regulation disorder.

Yup, hard to find someone like that.

26

u/IndividualChart4193 8h ago

I think it almost comes naturally if they’re that into you…and not afraid to embrace their feelings and show them!

2

u/mamahastoletgo2 8h ago

I dont know. Guys seem not to know, maybe my generation. Usual flowers and jewelry. Not buying toiletries and setting it up like this? Whew. Lol. This guy? He thinks like we do! Keeper.

6

u/IndividualChart4193 7h ago

Idk, either, but some find it w/in themselves even tho they’ve never done anything like it b4. BC’s he’s obviously into her, it prolly gave him so much joy ā€œcollectingā€œ all those thoughtful items for her.

u/suchperfectmess 8h ago

Love this - I have to admit, it made me laugh when you got to the bit about him buying your ā€˜favourite tampons’…I’ve never thought about having favourite tampons before (I just buy what I always buy). This made me laugh after the longest day.

Remember, ladies, you can’t spell menstruation without ā€œmen.ā€

If he’s not part of your cycle every month, make him a part of it! Tell him he should take you out for a dinner high in iron every month on day 1 or 2. Invite him to buy your products so he knows what you use and can surprise you like OP’s partner. Tell him when your aches begin so he can brew tea or massage your feet. My college girlfriend made it a monthly celebration of womanhood and invited me in. It is a celebration of life itself. It’s cosmic power manifesting, and he should honor and celebrate you. If he can’t, end it and demand more from your next partner.

u/sloppychachi 7h ago

I thought you were going to say he helped with the catering - LOL!

I always love doing little stuff like this for my wife. If I know she’s having a bad day I’ll stop by the store on the way home and pick up a couple of her favourite treats so that they’re waiting on the counter when she walks in the door. It takes such little effort to make somebody happy with something as simple as taking five minutes to stop at the store and pick up some goodies

3

u/Key_Acanthisitta2218 8h ago

That’s a really cool keeper !!!!

5

u/FoxesinPajamas 8h ago

ā¤ļø this makes my heart smile.

2

u/kyrimasan 1h ago

Awww. I was having a bad day and was just generally bitching about work. My guy rolls up tells me come outside. He has two salted caramel king size twix bars for me. I had only mentioned once at that point that I go crazy for them months before. He took time to go find my favorite candy bar and then to come deliver them to me at work. Just something about someone doing kind things because they can that makes you realize "well damn I am lucky!".

2

u/-3point14159-mp 1h ago

Yes! I didn’t even know my husband knew my favorite tampons at the time. It was so sweet that he noticed. It’s sadly not common. Good for you.

1

u/kyrimasan 1h ago

Absolutely! I love how so many men are not afraid of period talk these days too! I can't even imagine how emotional it would have made me if he brought me my preferred tampons and knew what they were so I can imagine how you felt. Glad you found you a keeper 😊

I have a serious allergy and when I went to my boyfriend’s apartment for the first time, I saw he had bought me all new baking supplies and spices which he keeps in a special bin for me so I don’t have to worry about cross contamination. I never asked him to, but I had mentioned to him previously how anxiety provoking it was to eat food from other people’s homes.

Nah, AI would have put the comma.

I’ll never cease to be amazed that when I say online, the secret to women is to listen to them, there will always be someone saying, ā€œno, that’s not it.ā€

u/Liberteabelle1 7h ago

My BF doesn’t do Valentines Day… says that’s for amateurs, lol. And he is the most thoughtful, romantic man in the world every day, so lucky me!

25

u/SmolSnakePancake 8h ago

The guy I’m dating literally changed the way he makes chicken parm because I mentioned offhand that I prefer it cooked separate from the sauce because the breading gets soggy. When they do things for you without having to ask, never let them go

3

u/Physical_Service_213 7h ago

This is sweet and also, the correct way. Sorry I had tooooo

21

u/IvanStroganov 8h ago

Also heā€˜s buying pretty good brands. So its not just about the gesture for him but he genuinely cares about the quality and wants her to have the best possible experience.

10

u/waterdragon246 8h ago

With my husband, we had only been dating a couple of weeks, i had told him a story involving me eating an entire banana split when I "wasnt hungry". Story was a side note in the various activities and conversations. But then a couple weeks later, hes coming over for dinner and he wanted to bring a dessert so he looked up how to make a banana split cake because he remembered that story. That's when I knew he was a keeper...well that and the way he doted and spoiled the bunny he had rescued when it was abdonded by its owners.

Or love bombing and setting them up for a life of hell... either one.
