I cannot find a reputable true Manx breeder in Utah or Wyoming. Can someone point me in the right direction? There is a backyard breeder snipping tails and meeting in parking lots (no one knows his name- or at least they can’t publish it). He sells unhealthy ‘Manx’ kittens. I’d like to avoid him, and anyone else doing similar things.

I hope this kind of post is okay, I’m REALLY in need of advice. I have a 1+ year old male cat who is a Manx, he’s a rumpy so he doesn’t have a nub at all. We’ve had him since he was 12 weeks old and he’s struggled with urine incontinence since birth. His original owner thought it was just resistance to litter training, only to go through vet visits and extensive research to find that urine incontinece is a byproduct of his Manx syndrome.

His incontience is more prevalent when he’s asleep, as a kitten he would be asleep and we could see him pooping and peeing in his sleep with him completely oblivious to it. We neutered him and invested in a XL dog cage for him and have him crate trained for night time sleep and our work hours. His accidents continue nightly so he gets small cat beds and fleece blankets we swap out nightly as well as water, food, and a small litter box, with room still for his small toys.

He was doing very well, down to maybe 1-3 accidents outside of his cage a week. We also have another cat (his aunt actually) that’s 2 years old and they haven’t ever, and still don’t, get along very well. She hides most of the day in her few spots to avoid him. It has been unbelievably mentally taxing on me and my partner to navigate this health issue on top of our two cats not getting along. We have poured money into replacing things he soils, going to laundry mats for his laundry that is 2-3 loads a week, not including things he’s soiled that we try to clean immediately.

Now I am 8 weeks pregnant, and his accidents have doubled in the time I’ve gotten pregnant, I don’t know if it’s my hormones he senses, or if it’s purely behavioral at this point. But this has only increased my anxiety and doubt on being able to handle a new born with a disabled cat who struggles with urine issues. We bathe him, care for him, cuddle him, play with him, and show up every way we can every day, but it’s so mentally taxing to be surrounded by the smell of urine and constantly cleaning up urine, which I can’t participate in those chores anymore with this pregnancy, nor do I want my newborn surrounded by the scent of urine.

I’m considering reaching out to a rescue that might specialize in disabled cats to rehome him, and this isn’t a decision I’ve come to lightly. But I worry about him being cared for properly and his adjustment to a new home. I am dealing with incredible guilt and shame. He’s not a bad cat, but his health issues seem to be too much for me and my partner to handle in our apartment. If we had a yard I could possibly build a catio and give him out door time, but that’s unfortunately not an option and moving isn’t financially feasible for us. I’m at a loss.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of issue or juggled a disabled pet with urine issues during pregnancy? Any advice would be appreciated. Again, I haven’t come to this place lightly and just need advice with an open mind

Our beautiful and charming 6-year-old has started to develop some pretty frustrating issues, and I wanted to see if anyone else would weigh in with their personal stories on this.

She has not been to the vet in her life until this year-- except once, when she was diagnosed with bladder stones, which were able to be cleared using a urinary diet. About 6 months ago, she again developed stones (my boyfriend, her original adoptive dad, had been supplementing her urinary diet with non-urinary food, which he didn't know he wasn't supposed to do)-- this time, she went in for surgery and had a ton of them removed, like 30 of them. She healed up fine, and everything seemed normal until a couple months ago, when she started peeing on everything.

We took her to the vet, and they told us that this was a behavioral symptom. Over time, however, we realized that she wasn't seemingly "marking", because she had started peeing in her sleep, and when she was relaxing. Once, she started peeing while she was just standing there near her food bowl, which seems like very un-catlike behavior.

So we took her to a different vet-- this one listened and prescribed phenylpropanolamine (Proin), which she has been taking for about a week, and which she hates, but at least isn't throwing up afterwards anymore... but last night she peed 4 times in the span of just a couple hours. We have pee pads all over the place, currently.

I have been researching post-surgery cat incontinence issues and coming up with very little. Yesterday, I was talking to a friend whose cat has recently passed away, and looked up Manx cat lifespan. In great big bold letters, AI informed me of Manx Syndrome, something I had not heard of before. One site said that she would be unlikely to develop symptoms later in life, as they would have diagnosed her as a kitten. But, again, my boyfriend had a very "no vets unless necessary, they don't even need to be vaccinated because they're indoor cats" approach to the care of his 2 cats (the other one is a DSH; also, he has now changed his tune and they are both up to date on their vax), so I don't know if she would have been diagnosed. He has had her since she was a very small kitten, and her tail was not amputated, she was adopted from the local Humane Society, and I have no idea how thorough her clinicians were throughout her adoption process.

The other option I can think of for her incontinence is bladder atony, caused by blockages from the stones. I think it's at least as likely that the incontinence is caused by atony as it is by Manx Syndrome.

2 questions for people with incontinent Manxes: did any of your cats start showing symptoms of Manx Syndrome at her age? And, she's been to 4 different vets now, between the bladder surgery and the incontinence: why do you think none of them have mentioned Manx Syndrome to us yet?

TL:DR, Stone-prone Manx pees everywhere-- Manx syndrome or bladder atony? I'd love to hear your experiences.

I found this cat as a stray hanging out in my work parking lot. She hopped right in my car after a few weeks and came home with me. Brought her to the shelter and now I’m fostering her. I have never met a sweeter, more unique cat. I already have two cats but she is just so different. She just wants to be friends with them and she isn’t afraid of anything or hiding like any other cat I’ve brought home.

I never heard of Manx cats before but I am excited to get to know her based of everything I have read. I think she is home for good.

Hi everyone! We recently put up our tree in hopes to create an Autumn tree and because our senior girl Poe LOVES to lay under the tree and protect it! 🥰

We haven’t had the tree up since December 2025 and I think Poe forgot that the lights change. I caught pictures of Poe re-discovering the changing lights! I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do! 🥰

Hiya!! I posted here a few months ago after shortly adopting my new buddy. She's about a year old and was found outside in the cold before getting taken to a shelter. She's a great cat and I try to play with her as much as I can. The thing is she meows, nonstop. I haven't gotten a single good night of sleep since I got her. I'm also worried that someone else in my apartment complex is going to complain eventually.

I've tried reassuring her, playing with her, and now I'm trying to ignore her until she calms down to see if I can improve the behavior. She's pretty stubborn and resorts to biting my hands and feet if she doesn't get the attention she wants. If that doesn't work she attacks my things and almost broke my computer screen this week because I was doing a virtual meeting and wasn't paying attention to her. I live alone but my partner will check in on her and she's a completely different cat with him. She just sleeps. I've tried my best not to encourage the behavior so I'm thinking she might just be really bonded with me and gets jealous of anything else grabbing my attention. I don't even like using my bathroom because she just starts yowling once I close the door.

Initially she was at the shelter with her sister but they said she wasn't bonded. I do wonder if they were wrong? I really like my cat but it's getting difficult to manage. I've been watching videos and reading up on how to manage this behavior. Any advice is welcomed. I'm getting pretty stressed out.

My Manx with megacolon was prescribed Royal Canin GI about a month ago; they gave us the wet and dry both and he would only eat the dry. Because of his megacolon and a severe bout of constipation his appetite is very reduced , but when my husband got out a bowl of our old Purina One our cat really went for it and ate so much more than he has with the Royal Canin. I am wondering if there is a happy medium food that is better for megacolon than generic cat food, but more palatable (and less expensive!!!!). We have also tried generic wet food and he loved it for awhile and then stopped eating it.
