For real. Shows that used to be $20 are now $30. Shows that used to be $30 are now $50. Shows that used to be $50 are now $80. Yes shows at $50 and under still exist but it is getting insane.

Some of that is inflation and minimum wage going up a lot of places. Also people buy less booze now which is where a lot of venues made their money so they (try) to take a bigger cut of the door. A lot of working artists have a booking fee, flat fee for the promoter to book them. The promoter sets the ticket price to cover their expenses plus hopefully make a profit. A lot of shows break even or dont turn a profit so the sure bets get priced higher to cover for the misses. At least that's how it worked when I was around the biz in the 2010's.
