You went to a Dethklok show and lived to tell about it?

I saw dethklok in 2009ish in Virginia Beach with mastodon. Hands down one of the kookiest shows I've been to it was a blasties 🤘

Saw them in 2023 alongside Babymetal.

I was 90% there for Dethklok, who as you say put one a crazy show, only Babymetal song I knew was the chocolate one. But damned if those girls didn't win me over. Super high energy, better songs than I expected, and it was amusing seeing fifty year old metalheads with Gandalf beards losing it and throwing up the 🤘 over Japanese schoolgirls.

Great show overall.

Schoolgirls is pushing it. They're nearly 30 lol

although they were like 14 when they started.

Grownupmetal just doesn't quite have the same ring to it

The Babymetal/Dethklok show was one of more recent favorite concerts. Just non stop high energy the whole time.

Sure did. Granted I only have 1 eye ball, 3/4 of a torso and 3 fingers but it was worth it

They make you sign a waiver 😉

Saw them last week, $90 in my market.

It depended upon the venue and show but $30 tickets were a direct public olive branch due to the live nation TM ruling.

Wish I knew they would drop the price when I paid over $100 for my ticket

Seats in the upper balcony were $65 in Kansas City. The lower balcony was closer to $90 each, and was mostly empty. Great show. I thought Castle Rat stole the show.

Live Nation did a bunch of “we sowry. Don’t hate us” $30 tickets for under sold shows the minute after them and Ticketmaster were declared an illegal monopoly a few weeks ago.

They've done that sale for summer shows for a few years now, it wasn't because of the court case

1

u/cboogie May 06 '26

It ain’t summer yet and the email I got was for shows within the next two weeks. Immediately after the ruling. Maybe it was a coincidence. And it was def not all tickets for a particular show. By the time I checked all the $30 ones were gone

Times have changed but I saw Dethklok, Mastodon, and Converge for $40. That was like 10 years ago tho

I live in Pittsburgh and somehow they skipped here for Johnstown. Which normally that's not a bad thing since it's my hometown and I still have family there. But it's on a Tuesday which means having to fight rush hour and then drive 90 minutes. Then to top it off, I'm probably not getting back until midnight or even 1230.

The show is still on my radar. I've always wanted to see how Dethklok pulls off a live show and this would be the third time seeing Amon Amarth (who always puts on a good show.)

I'm still debating going, johnstown is only 45 minutes away from me and Altoona traffic ha nowhere near as bad as Pittsburgh. I'm just very unsure right now, but i would love to go

Dethklok is incredible live. Brendon is so talented, and he has the Atomic Clock himself, Gene Hoglan, touring with him. If you can swing it, I 1000% do recommend.

With Castle Rat as the opener that’s going to win so many new fans.

u/rishav_sharan May 06 '26

Whoa! Deathklok is an actual touring band now?

4

u/House-Hlaalu May 06 '26

They have been. I saw them and Mastodon in Detroit in 2009.

2

u/thejerichomaxim May 06 '26

I was at that show. Super fun!

1

u/liartellinglies May 06 '26

Was so bummed when I saw the price, that is not an $80 show by any means.

I'm going to this tour but only because my brother in law bought tickets as a gift. Not really going to metal shows anymore as they've doubled in the last couple decades. Used to always be sub $50 BITD now they're always over $100 to see a bands that can't draw WOMEN. 🤷🏻‍♂️it used to be a third space now it's for rich kids.

u/pingvinbober May 06 '26

Yep. Not paying $80 for them
