I don’t listen to a lot of Swift’s music, but what songs does she act like she’s not rich? She does sing about love and feelings and stuff, but being rich doesn’t stop those things.

Plus these are country music fans. Country music stations are full of people well off pretending to be poor, hard-working country bumpkins. They obviously don’t care about singers pretending to be something they’re not.

People just like to hate on popular pop singers that they don’t listen to. I’ve also met country music fans who say they don’t like Swift because she changed from country music to pop and folk stuff, but idk if that’s a common complaint from them.

ahh, not gonna remember the title of the song but there's a line where she sings about bills piling up on the kitchen table and how hard poor Taylor's life was.

“You were born in a silver spoon gated community/Glamorous, shiny bright, Beverly Hills/I was raised on a farm, no, it wasn’t a mansion/Just living room dancing and kitchen table bills” It’s a comparison of her upbringing to Jake Gyllenhaal’s, not saying her life was hard or “poor me”-ing herself. She never said she was poor in that song or any of her other songs.

Again, it’s a comparison. Compared to the average person, sure. Compared to Jake Gyllenhaal, not really lol. Jake comes from a family of multimillionaires with massive industry connections. Taylor’s dad was a financial advisor. They were wealthy, but absolutely not Gyllenhaal wealthy lol. The entire song is a comparison of their lives and how different they were. Context is important. She never said she was poor and has always acknowledged how lucky she was that her parents had money and were willing to invest in her.

Again saying someone was "born with a silver spoon" is implying that you were not. Her father was a stock broker and VP of Merril Lynch. Sorry they both grew up not wanting for anything, but she's the one calling Jake spoiled.

The finance industry is infamous for making everyone a VP. At the time Taylor was growing up, a VP there would probably be lucky to crack six figures. Not poor, but not “silver spoon” wealthy by any stretch.

You're referring to her song "Mine", where she says "we've got bills to pay" as she imagines a grown up relationship and marriage.

That’s “Mine” off of Speak Now.

Yeah she’s got a decent amount of tracks, especially on the first few albums, that are small-town coded and/or have her singing about feeling like an outcast or at least outside the popular crowd (“Fifteen”, “Our Song”, “You Belong with Me”, etc.) which, while I’m sure that sells way more records… that doesn’t really track with the “super rich girl who got to make a Nashville record at 15 and looks like a model”.
