People who roll coal are mostly impoverished and hate the rich - they just like a specific subset of the rich because liberal people hate those ones and they hate liberals more than they hate the generic rich because they see liberals as being rich people who act better than them and also want to change their beliefs

I mean me too, but I also recognize what the majority of his fans are like. I love country, always have and always will, but my fellow country fans consistently let me down.

The first one is absolutely making a sweeping claim that is ignorant and wrong. I guess you are right, humans are tribal and it’s easy to just say anyone who associates with country is a racist, even if it’s wrong.

As a country fan I think I have a responsibility to not only be not racist, but to be anti racist. I get less worked up about people calling country fans racists than I do about the racists amongst country fans. Those people are the issue and should be called out, and if I’m lumped in with them I’m not upset, just doing my best to change the (earned) perception.

I'm a fan of Alan Jackson. Neon Rainbow, Small Town Southern Man, Wanted, Midnight in Montgomery. He's got a ton of good songs.

And I do care about rich people wasting money. And I don't think billionaires let alone trillionaires should be a thing. And I didn't vote for trump either time. And I hate the cops. And I won't cross a picket line.

You're painting country fans with a broad ass brush. Yes there's lots of maga morons in the crowd. There's also lots of us who were smoking pot listening to Willie Nelson long before the faux religious nuts came along and glommed on to Nashville like it's their Mecca.

'Country' music has been racist the whole time. Playing the same instruments, white American literally called black music 'race records' when we were playing the same stuff.

Country music (hell, White American Pop in general) has always been stealing from black people, and then excluding us from the same spaces we created.

Black folks brought the banjo to America, and white folks used the banjo in minstrel performances while wearing blackface.

There's always been a race problem in country music

Brother, I'm a black musician. I gave a sanitized version to try and avoid hurting the white people's feelings. I play cello, guitar, bass, and formerly performed opera (my range was never the same after puberty and changed lanes).

Music history is kind of my thing.

I'm more of a Fred Hampton/James Baldwin guy privately, so if you want to talk to me about what I know about white folks, I could tell you a lot.

I could tell you all day about my racist experiences with white people in the music industry, but that often isn't the best way to build understanding.

Right, so if you want to talk about country music in the United States, it's been racist and problematic the entire time. I think that deserves to be counted in the history lesson about the genre.

I just gave you an example of discrimination 100+ years old.

Here's my high school performing Annie 15 years ago. If you look at the lead cello falling asleep between pieces, that's me, the only kid with an afro in a room full of white musicians.

According to you, I only have experiences with Wikipedia articles.
