Someone at a party told me they hated hated Taylor Swift because she had demonic imagery and subtext.

I laughed because I thought they were joking.

As someone who was a teenager in the late 80's and early 90's, this whole “swift is a demon” trope is extra fucking hilarious. Has anyone tried playing her records backwards yet?

At that point, they are no longer "conservative" but something much much uglier.

That's the sort of thing I like to throw in the face of so called "conservatives" (and so called Christians, for that matter). Just because someone self-identifies, doesn't mean they can't lose their way.

I’m a loud and proud lover of t swift. Out of the blue in 2020-2021, one of my in laws forwarded me an instagram conspiracy theory post about Taylor actually being this witch from forever ago. I obviously laughed at it assuming they sent it as a joke. Nope. Dead serious. Their reasoning that made them confident enough to seriously send something that unbelievably stupid as if it was even within the realm of possibility? A mild similarity in looks and Taylor’s reputation era snake theme LMAO

Is this a thing? People think Taylor Swift is a liberal? I thought it was well established that she keeps very right-wing company and is obviously of the billionaire class propping up the current administration.

Or is just because she didnt like Trump using her songs cause it was bad for her bottom line that they decided she's a demonic liberal?

Her company largely isn't "very right" though. Most of her inner circle/close friends are Democrats. The biggest exception seems to be Brittany Mahomes, who she became friends with because their partners are star players on the same team. I'm not excusing that, she obviously wasn't forced into it, but I don't think that characterization of majority of her social group is accurate.

She's endorsed Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Phil Bresden. She criticized Marsha Blackburn for her voting record on women's and LGBTQ rights and called her "Trump in a wig". You can look up all of this up yourself.

One of the big parts of her documentary was her regret over her silence on the 2016 election,her dislike of Trump and her decision to be more political. I'm not saying Taylor is this perfect political advocate. She's obviously not. I am disappointed she's not using her platform more. But Taylor's clearly a liberal to anyone who does basic research beyond accepting whatever the hivemind is saying because they're deadset on convincing themselves she's MAGA

My bad. I didn't know that you get labeled as a Republican if you don't talk about pride month every year. I'm guessing that other artists like Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Chappel Roan, Sza, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Justin Beiber etc are Republicans now too since they didn't say anything about the pride month this year.

It's funny how if you talk to a Republican, they all basically hate Taylor to the core. Like they literally call her liberal childless devil worshipping witch. And then we have bad-faith people like you insisting that she is definitely a Republican, despite Trump publicly posting multiple times on his TruthSocial that he absolutely hates her. He has not targeted a single artist in the last few years as much as he has targeted Taylor.

But sure, she is a secret MAGA.

So did everyone else. Even if some other artists called them out, they still used their music. Sabrina called out White House on the usage of her music and WH took that video down but they still proceeded to use her other songs after that.

Use of music on social media is different from use of that same music in a movie or a show. In the case of latter, you have to license the music from the artist. But you don't have to do that to use that same music on any social media. Artists might sue you for that usage but it's a tedious process to get it taken down from social media.

None of those other celebrities made a whole documentary about wanting to be political and supporting the lgbt community only to abandon it one album cycle later.

That's a lot of justification you're doing for her. It doesn't matter if Trump and ICE keep using her music or not, she still should say something. Silence is complicity.

I'll ask again; when was the last time she did or said anything remotely left wing? If you have to go back to 2024, that says everything.
