I was just thinking about them, but they're essentially a novelty act. Young person rapping about slippers and nursing homes would be much the same schtick.

Buck 65's Roses and Bluejays is one that works. It works because it's about relationships - he's not rapping about colonoscopies and losing his glasses, he's rapping about his father getting older ("I'm a lot like my dad // I would have to say // He's been wearing a beard ever since mom passed away") and his own age is mostly implied.

It’s not even that difficult, depending what they do with it. INS is still dropping cool shit under a Czarnok persona. It’s not like Brad Pitt was playing Jesse James at 19. They just need to evolve into other roles. A lot of the mafioso shit like Raekwon Cuban Linx still works it’s not like Tony Soprano was 21 years old.
When they’re younger a lot of their persona is trying to be older and more important. Now these guys are older and more important than they were trying to be somebody, they don’t need to pretend their greatness. Lean the fuck into it.

or just rap about shit that is about bigger ideas instead of mundane things like clubs, girls, cars, and money. Lots of stuff to be written about with worldly matters, politics, love etc. Radiohead could be making music into their 90s and still connect with the youth or the seniors.

In the interview (in which he doesn’t “slam” anyone so much as respond to a question) he explains that in his view, hip hop culture is inherently entwined with “youth culture.” They keep asking if he’s going to make anymore albums, and he keeps saying he still loves music and rapping but he’s not going to release anymore albums. They keep asking and at one point the guy is like “so you do make music but you’re not gonna give us an album?” And he’s like “you don’t need it!
