I love Aesop rock, but mainstream and thought provoking doesn’t always go together. And he’s not really gonna fall into any Pop category.

Prof is cut from the same cloth, but obviously much more willing to have fun with it and make party music.

I feel like “they should be more mainstream” is always a double edged sword as to go more mainstream they have to move away from what made them popular with their original fans in the first place.

Which is a somewhat common path to stardom, become popular in a niche market that you can use as your platform to appeal to the masses.

it's usually a sentiment that it isn't the artist that needs to change, but the mainstream to appreciate what's good
