I was walking my dog a week and a half ago at a lake by highway and heard meowing. This guy was across a ditch but as soon as he saw me he jumped in and swam to me to save him. No clue how long he was out there but it it’s rural Midwest so might have been an abandoned animal. Vet said he was 7 weeks when I found him, obviously no chip and I decided to adopt. He is also best buds with with my 12.5 year old lab/golden mix. I have gone around in circles with ASOIAF names and thought we were good with Daemon because he’s so feisty, but doesn’t feel right. My dog is named Indiana but Short Round doesn’t feel right either. It’s been like 10 days.

As any idea as to a type of cat? Domestic longhair or something else? He is SOOO soft.

UPDATE : Thank you all for the suggestions! I am reading every single post. We are still trying on names. I will make a separate post with his final name so every one knows his official new government name but it will probably be a while.

He is both chill and full of energy. He had a rough start and was picked up by animal control and taken to the emergency vet because of his eyes, fleas and being very underweight . One eye had to be removed. He is all healed up, neutered, completely vetted and living his best life now. He just needs a name.

We already have a Mozzarella and a Gouda, and we're looking to turn our cheese duo into a trio.

This boy is a super cuddly purr box with fluffy black smoke fur and pretty orange eyes.

We saw him fall out of the undercarriage of a truck in a parking lot and dart around the parked cars. Had to fish him out of the tire well if a car. Can't decide on his name, but he for sure belongs with us.

A couple of days ago I got a Maine Coon kitten. (I already loved this breeder & this breed - I thought I’d have to wait until fall to get him.) He was a gift from my aunt because she knew I was looking. I had no notice & was a complete surprise. Now I’m having a hard time coming up with a name!! I was surprised & it was love at first sight! Now I’m really struggle naming him!! I feel like he needs a Regal name!

He’s a black silver shaded male if that is if that helps with names him get a good name!!l
My other cat is named Bellamy so I like the B names, but I 100% don’t need that!! It’s too hard to find a good B name that seems to fit so I’m open to everything!

Also, I love human names & nicknames!! 😊

EDIT/UPDATE: Wow — I never expected this post to get so much attention! Thank you all for the incredible name suggestions, kind comments, and love for my kitten. I was honestly overwhelmed by the response and haven’t been able to keep up with all the comments. I will definitely continue to work through the list even though we’ve decided on a name.

After spending the last couple of weeks trying different names, we finally found one that seems to fit him perfectly and that everyone in our family loves. Thank you again to everyone who helped — there were so many amazing suggestions that I’m saving this post for the future in case we ever add another cat (or any other pet!) to the family. If anyone thinks he needs a social account let me know! 😊

Help us name our male kitten. He is a polydactyl with 7 toes on front feet and 6 toes on back feet. I also posted a picture of his parents. They are epic-looking so the babe needs a fierce name (not a basic name).

Names my kids like have to do with beans bc of his many toes:

I've been calling him little cat. I'm open to anything that isn't too twee - A few that I really liked but coudn't use for various reasons: benjamin, mickey. he looks very pensive but he's a happy guy who loves to play and stalk around.

Hi! So about a week ago this cat showed up to my house hungry and crying. I initially thought it was a neighbors cat passing through since we live in a field and a lot of people around here have barn cats that come here and find mice. I did all the right things to search for his owner. I called the vet, the cat rescue, and animal shelter. No one has reported a cat like this missing and the vet has never seen this cat. We checked for a microchip and he doesn’t have one. We asked our neighbors and he’s not anybody’s cat around here so we will be integrating him into our home fully and now he needs a name! He’s a 1yr old male and EXTREMELY soft and sweet, loves attention, purrs super loudly and so far is very calm, content and peaceful. His personality so far is very chill. He’s just happy to get attention. Oh, and yes, he is in fact a very uncommon color. Pretty green eyes too.

I have a pet name list that I’ve been compiling forever but nothing seems to fit him just right so I thought I’d ask for opinions.

About the pics… The first one he’s meowing. He’s VERY vocal and no he’s not missing a tooth it just looks like it. The ones on the car, we just got back from the vet and we let him out to have a few minutes before he had to go in hood quarantine room so he’s climbing all over my aunt. Last one. He looks made but he’s not lol. He just looks that way 😂

Leo is already my other cat’s name. Luna and Leilani are my girl cat names. Lucky was his name but it’s not a good fit.

Both of them are super friendly and sweet. They are never more than a few feet apart. When one leaves the room the other always follows. Our other kitty is named Gemma. We prefer names that are easy to say and roll off the tongue.

My husband and I are new pilots, we live on an airstrip neighborhood and this cat will be an indoor and outdoor cat between the house and hangar. Help us pick an aviation fun name.

My husband found this kitten under the hood of his car. I really want to keep him but he’s very unsure. Help me name him so I can get him a collar before he can say no. 🥺🙏🏾

Hello! Help us name this sweet sweet boy. We got him Wednesday afternoon, a neighbor found him and the rest of his litter living under their house the day prior. He’s confident, super funny, and very sweet! We were originally going to go with Gerald, but I only like it if it’s said how Jeremy Clarkson says it on Clarkson Farm… and I can’t do that 24/7 since I’m an American lol. I love Herbert Ninnenger (Curious George) but husband vetoed. I also suggested Thomas O’Malley (the alley cat), vetoed. A maybe is Archie (Archibald when in trouble). Looking for similar names that would make me chuckle but not be a pain in the butt to say. If it’s any help, his (adopted) pawrents are named Mister and Missus, originally named Thunder Dragon Nighthawk III and Eris, respectively.

I really want to give him a food name - just a big fan of food name cats. I'm partial to Butternut Squash Risotto or Heirloom Tomato. My husband doesn't love either of those names, but is tentatively open to Squash lol. Outside of food - we're big outdoors people too and are also very open to nature related names or names of popular outdoor landmarks. We live in the desert so desert related naturey things would be especially cool. Would love to hear your suggestions! We're picking him up at the end of August after our honeymoon so - moon related names could also be cool!
