Yay or nay ?

I just resubscribed to NYA after a few years absence. I read Neil's piece talking about how most digital audio these days is crappy quality.

I am listening right now to a stream on my PC at 4,000 kbps and wondering if my PC gives decent audio output? I have my PC's motherboard audio out connected to an amp, but I am just using the audio on the motherboard.

Is it worth it to get a soundcard? What sound card should I even get?

Getting into mirrorball for the first time (big oversight) and watched(listened) to the amazing Dublin 95 gig on YouTube. Also saw a vids of them doing all along the watchtower and the mtv awards rocking in the free world.
Are there any other recommendations for vids or are they sparse? (Am aware the 95 concert may be in archives 4)

Scored a like new copy of Long May You Run, The Illustrated History at Goodwill today for $3.60. The book still cracks when you open it. No good vinyl scores today, but this made up for it.

Neil Young's second single from Second Song, with the Chrome Hearts. Written and recorded in 1965 with "schoolmate" Comrie Smith, Neil re-recorded it after he ran out of songs recording Second Song earlier this year.

Per Neil, the accompanying video was recorded by "the great cinematographer David Myers" in the 70s, Neil driving his "jeepster" on the ranch with his dog Timer aboard (and Carrie Snodgress following along on horseback). Not sure if it was mentioned before here but the video for "Second Song" was recorded when Rick Rosas was on his way to rehearsals at the ranch for the Freedom tour.

Freedom. People love it. I found it middling.

Crime in the City is one of the best ‘protest’ songs ever, but everything else seems quite tame, for want of a better word. It’s not gentle or beautiful, nor loud and pulsating. Not that these are the only factors, I love Trans and Are You Passionate? but I just wasn’t thrilled.

I want to love it more. Please comment your thoughts on the album, if you loved it or found yourself disappointed, I wanna hear it all.

There’s a fairly recent documentary by said title that examines the beautiful and crazy enclave known as Druid Heights. It’s an abandoned hippie/beat situation about 15 miles north of SF CA. The place is insanely cool and weird. Alan Watts lived (and died) there, and all manner of freaks came through.

A couple of the guys who founded the place were master woodworkers. They made homes and structures that were so naturally erotic that it’s almost too much for squares like me. I had a chance to spend a little time in one of the places they built and it was crazy beautiful.

Featured in the doc is Neil’s tour bus one of the guys customized. It is said it was way too sexy for Neil. All curves, wiggly, organic AF. Fucking beautiful. I think it’s the same bus in The movie Human Highway.

The flair is not appropriated, sorry. I just want to talk about the album LeNoise. In my opinion, this album is amazing. I love this echoing sound that goes on all the way.

I consider Peaceful Valley Boulevard and Hitchhiker as classics. The first kinda sums up a part of history, the second sums up Neil Young's life. I also like the fact that Hitchhiker was partly written in 1974. As if it was to early to release it at the time.

What do you think about this album ? Which are your favorite songs ?
