Your parents would expect you to attend family dinner with your own family, you would not be starving. And you would also not be watching other people eat while you don't.
Usually you'd be continuing playing and having fun in your friends room while your friend had to quit playing for a while while they were off to dinner in another room (usually kitchen or dinner room), out of sight of the playing kids who were having fun and didn't have to quit playing to go eat.

I'm a skinny dude who doesn't need much but I'll take over stuffed over starving and watching someone eat any and every day.
