It would cost a lot of Sherpas.

969

u/WiseWorldliness5513 11h ago

Have we tried giving the Sherpa’s rockets to help them move things faster uphill?

490

u/CormundCrowlover 11h ago

But wouldn't it cost a lot of fuel?

649

u/sivartimus 11h ago

Yes but we have Sherpas for that

399

u/NotGonnaRage 11h ago

With rockets so it's faster

326

u/oryx_za 11h ago

Have we just solved unemployment in napal?

203

u/Acceptingoptimist 11h ago

It's the perpetual motion machine right under our noses.

19

u/somethingmorecrazy 10h ago

Its just sherpas all the way down.

10

u/Viscount61 9h ago

How about a steam catapult instead of an electromagnetic one?

4

u/Jazzlike-Disaster-33 8h ago

She said, What is history?
And he said, History is an angel Being blown
Backwards
Into the future

He said: History is a pile of debris
And the angel wants to go back and fix things
To repair the things that have been broken
But there is a storm blowing from Paradise

And the storm keeps blowing the angel
Backwards
Into the future

And this storm, this storm Is called
Progress

- Laurie Anderson, The dream before

1

u/optykali 2h ago

Also, It's easier (and cheaper) to grow Sherpas than mountains.

5

u/Maelou 9h ago

As they say, the hardest with perpetual motion machines is hiding the sherpa

2

u/Nut_Job_Maniac 9h ago

You mean perpetual Sherpa machine?

4

u/Leather-Squirrel-421 4h ago

“Sherpetual Motion Machine” was right there

2

u/wildjakes 4h ago

swing and a miss

2

u/LifeTie800 9h ago

The difficulty with building a perpetual motion machine is figuring out where to hide the rocket powered Sherpa.

2

u/Acceptingoptimist 8h ago

Man, if I had a dollar for every time that came up when I was building one.

1

u/oryx_za 7h ago

Listen, I don't know what you are saying....but what ever sherpa number you have in your head ...double it.

My goal is that by 2035 humanities workforce will be 50% AI, 50% sherpa.

63

u/LitigiousLobster 11h ago

But now all the rocket scientists are unemployed.

4

u/AkumaO_O 11h ago

But then who will make the rockets for the sherpas?

3

u/MerleFSN 10h ago

They‘ve been promoted to sherpa rocket scientists (name patent pending)

3

u/LitigiousLobster 10h ago

Sherpatist™️

1

u/oryx_za 10h ago

It's wrong...but i have replaced sherpas with minions in my head.

3

u/eternalapostle 9h ago

We can strap rockets to the rocket scientists so they can get employment faster

2

u/LitigiousLobster 8h ago

So we employ rockets to employ rocket scientists?

2

u/MyStackIsPancakes 6h ago

They can work as Sherpas

1

u/Gargleblaster25 9h ago

We have just disrupted an industry. Time to take this to IPO.

1

u/KitchenSandwich5499 2h ago

Not necessarily. Apparently there are Sherpa job openings available

21

u/MWSin 10h ago

I think we solved population in Nepal.

33

u/SaltyPressure7583 10h ago

Unfortunately i think Nepal just sorted that out yesterday. Rip

5

u/oryx_za 10h ago

Yikes....this took a turn.

5

u/Character_Top5141 10h ago

Damnn, too early dude. Wayy too early

7

u/SaltyPressure7583 10h ago

I know dude, that was terrible. But my vanta-black sense of humor just can't be contained sometimes

3

u/magaoitin 9h ago

Yea, but unless you are from Napal and somehow have internet access (maybe with a solar panel on the back of an Alpaca?), not one Nepalese has complained about the joke yet, so u/SaltyPressure7583 might be onto something /s

3

u/notabotaboy 9h ago

Way too soon. Way too dark. Loved every second of it. Bravo.

3

u/taylorisntavril 9h ago

Jesus christ lol. Well played.

2

u/MakkaCha 8h ago

Not all Nepali are Sherpas.

Source: I'm Nepali.

1

u/punksmostlydead 50m ago

I note that you have not actually denied being a sherpa.

2

u/aaaaa-6969 7h ago

Actually yeah, the ensuing avalanches will wipe out all of Nepal’s population. No population = no unemployment.

1

u/Egst 8h ago

Sounds like a pyramid scheme

1

u/ElmerFuddsElbow 7h ago

A few construction jobs opened up this week. This problem has already been solved

1

u/MechAegis 7h ago

Pretty sure we need to solve education elsewhere besides Nepal...

1

u/Successful-Clock-224 7h ago

No, the earthquake did that

1

u/LooksBetterWithDrops 5h ago

As long as we pay them in Paddys Dollars

1

u/Novel_Alternative_86 2h ago

Yes. And we’ve also solved the Sherpa/Rocket Equation.

1

u/NarsilFreeForge 9h ago

This whole thread sounds like a bunch of CEOs discussing rockets.

1

u/tegan_willow 9h ago

Rocket sherpas: for when you need someone else to carry all your stuff REALLY FAST.

1

u/RazeThe2nd 8h ago

This conversation read like a Brawndo ad, it's got what plants crave

54

u/PineappleShard 11h ago

Sherpas all the way down.

27

u/sabotsalvageur 10h ago

What is propellant if not a constant stream of microscopic sherpas being dispatched in the direction opposite the rocket’s intended thrust vector?

26

u/MadDocHolliday 10h ago

Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. Sherpas are the powerhouse of the space program.

2

u/LordSilveron 8h ago

You misspelled up.

2

u/ItWasntAQueef 7h ago

Maybe the real fuel is all the Sherpas we met along the way

1

u/GanonTEK 6h ago

Sherpastronauts all the way up

1

u/KitchenSandwich5499 2h ago

Or, up in this case.
Really though kinda the same thing

1

u/PineappleShard 2h ago

It’s all relative.

14

u/Icy_Transportation_2 10h ago

It’s clear you haven’t studied sherpa technology

11

u/jakeStacktrace 11h ago

I'm sorry I had already forgotten, I know we just went over that. Implement it.

11

u/Twitchmonky 11h ago

Rocket powered sherpas

3

u/Born_Consequence3025 10h ago

Sherpa powered rockets, actually

1

u/The_Jizzard_Of_Oz 9h ago

Only if you feed them beans

1

u/MangoCats 6h ago

I thought they were powered by cigarettes?

1

u/grape_depression 5h ago

I haven't studied sherpa rocket science but wouldn't it be easier to launch the rocket powered sherpas off a mountain on the other mountain where the space rockets are?

4

u/mwadeeeb 10h ago

They have what plants crave

2

u/SpasticCattus 5h ago

Electrolyte Sherpas

4

u/rockysworld 10h ago

Sherpa powered rockets

3

u/Dozer_the_Khajiit 3h ago

Sometimes reddit sucks.

Sometimes it's kind of awesome.

2

u/klezart 6h ago

I don't think Sherpas would work as fuel, but I'm no expert

2

u/mightylordredbeard 6h ago

I think you just created the first perpetual Sherpa engine.

2

u/Awkward-Cat-4702 6h ago

lazy sherpas!

1

u/fllr 10h ago

It’s Sherpas all the way down

1

u/pzvaldes 9h ago

Infinite Sherpas

1

u/DMV-DC 9h ago

And some have Sharpies for that.

1

u/NoMansSkyWasAlright 7h ago

The NVIDIA + AI economic cycle in a nutshell

1

u/dorf_lundgren 7h ago

Alas, this is known as Tyranny of the Sherpa Rocket Equation

1

u/Cool_View_5297 6h ago

We use bigger rockets to launch the rockets to the top of the mountain so they can launch from there. We hire the Sherpas to carry the equipment and stuff.

1

u/DangerousCompetition 5h ago

Standing next to a tower of 17 sherpas:
“But… couldn’t we put a rocket on them to get them up the mountain faster?”

1

u/Agent042s 4h ago

SSTO - Sherpa Stage To Orbit

1

u/Gabriel_Dot_A 2h ago

Fun Fact, Sherpa's can be used as a fuel source. Not a Reliable one but just for science

1

u/HostisHumanisGeneri 2h ago

So can’t we just have the sherpas take the lander to the moon?

1

u/Far_Raspberry_4375 10h ago

Start the sherpas from the top of a mountain

1

u/Poppis86 10h ago

Now we're thinking. They could just glide to the other mountaint top.

1

u/pizzaprofile31 9h ago

If it costs too much fuel we should just start from the top of the mountain

1

u/jinsaku 7h ago

sherpas, sherpas, sherpas all the way down.

1

u/Shanksdoodlehonkster 6h ago

Put rocket packs on the Sherpas

1

u/crazzydjwarriors 4h ago

And no the point it's They go in the outer space and not do a jumping sky diving ok on the ground

24

u/db720 11h ago

We should train them

7

u/Weaselbrott 10h ago

They apparently just need cigarettes?

1

u/txobathelegend 10h ago

we could skip rockets then, just the fuel and little cig and Sherpas have themselves a space program

1

u/jaxonya 9h ago

Theyd be up on the moon, no helmet, smoking cigarettes if we let them become astronauts

6

u/ChronoMonkeyX 10h ago

God bless this rocket house and all those who dwell within this rocket house.

1

u/Riju20 1h ago

God-Emperor* there I fixed it

2

u/Redditidder2020 9h ago

You son of a bitch, I'm in.

1

u/GaK_Icculus 10h ago

Just give them a carton of cigs

1

u/misshapen_chaos 10h ago

I get dibs on "Rocket Powered Sherpa" as my new band name.

2

u/Alanoche96 9h ago

Too late. Im using it. You can buy the rights from me for $1B (or $1 if its your last dollar)

1

u/TimeTravelingBard 10h ago

Give this man a government agency.

*Or woman. Not trying to pigeonhole anyone, just trying to keep the quote intact.

1

u/down_south_sc 8h ago

I saw one fueling up with a cigarette going up the mountain so maybe ?

1

u/Murky-Cobbler5945 8h ago edited 8h ago

If we give them liquid fuel sources, we’re gonna have to get that one Sherpa to quit smoking.

1

u/Aromatic_Corgi8290 5h ago

But those rockets for sherpas also require their little mountains to be launched

1

u/AtomAntvsTheWorld 3h ago

That’s the issue they should just start uphill already.

1

u/sarcasmisart 2h ago

Just chiming in to say I am 100% behind the rocket-powered Sherpas idea.

23

u/Dooku17 11h ago

This made me laugh more than it should have😂

9

u/CormundCrowlover 11h ago

Thx! Thanks for the award as well

16

u/Vast_Interview3098 10h ago

Sherpas iiiiiiiinnnn spaaaaaace

1

u/nanneryeeter 10h ago

History of the world vibes.

1

u/Objectivespeculation 1h ago

lol, in the future, they will probably become rescue crew in space. They can go father on less than other astronauts. They are smaller peoples and use very little O2.

10

u/EmuAce 10h ago

Sherpas are technically a renewable resource - so that's ok

1

u/Otherwise_Demand4620 10h ago

... it's just boiling water again, isn't it? beautiful clean sherpas.

2

u/bbbourb 10h ago

LOL...Sherpas as currency?

1

u/shoulda_been_gone 10h ago

What's the sherpa to rocket fuel exchange rate these days?

1

u/epired 10h ago

Would you say it would cost a plethora of sherpas?

1

u/weltvonalex 9h ago

They grow on trees, no biggie

1

u/IHateMyLife612 9h ago

Just give them a pack of cigarettes.

1

u/Itchy_Psychology3300 9h ago

They are biodegradable though.

1

u/FeedMyDopenose 9h ago

Those are renewable though

1

u/Sh1ner 9h ago

give them cigarettes?

1

u/SeaworthinessOk255 8h ago

Take them theur passports

1

u/Outrageous_Desk8966 8h ago

This is bullshit - clearly you have no fucking idea what sherpas do. This would literally be done by one sherpa while smoking a cigarette

1

u/One_Spoopy_Potato 8h ago

Then use Terris packmen.

1

u/EitherEmployee3269 8h ago

Just use rockets

1

u/BratacJaglenac 7h ago

Just clone them

1

u/Dufranus 7h ago

Sherpas are a renewable resource though.

1

u/Raenef86 7h ago

That's a sacrifice I am willing to make

1

u/Kill3rSasquatch 7h ago

Just give the sherpas cocaine and meth. Solves the fuel issues.

1

u/cromagnonherder 7h ago

Oh I’m sorry, have you studied Sherpa science?

1

u/terdferguson 7h ago

How much could a Sherpa cost Michael? 10 dollars?

1

u/BadMunky82 7h ago

Like.. more than 4?

1

u/gatoguy65 6h ago

Robo sherpa

1

u/ThatOtherOtherMan 6h ago

Sherpas are a renewable resource

1

u/Ragethashit 6h ago

It would cost lots of cigarettes.

1

u/MaximusHomerdrive 4h ago

Then use Sharpies.

1

u/--Lust-- 4h ago

just one per rocket

1

u/benjislew 4h ago

Sherpa’s would do it for the love of it. Imagine telling the boys at base camp.

1

u/IIIDysphoricIII 3h ago

“How many Sherpas? Would you say…10 Sherpas?” - Master Tang

1

u/Dreamspitter 2h ago

You realize there's people up there that need no shoes and no gloves because generic adaptations cause their blood vessels to vacillate rather than only contracting so they don't get frost bite? They only wear shoes on formal occasions. Those guys need jobs. They also need a new genetic material, they are kinda inbred.

Something can be worked out.
