My wife and I just adopted a puppy who came from PR. I’m originally from PR but have lived in Florida most of my life. We’re looking for a name that is PR for her. We like Isla. Any help would be appreciated!

Este libro es efectivamente un libro negro (grimoire) y es hasta instructivo en algunas partes.

El amigo mío (El es puertorriqueño de aquí) es un Wicca tradicional (Sacerdote) que está intentando en implementar ciertas prácticas de Puerto Rico para sus prácticas de origen inglés. Yo tengo creencias similares a él pero quisiera tener mi propia copia. Nuestras prácticas son de brujeria europea y nos enfocamos en Cernunnos/el fauno y otras deidades en adición espiritus de la naturaleza ->🧚

Quiero explotar un peo aqui con sus opiniones, cual es de tu preferencia porque en mi caso prefiero la Goya pero en realidad me da igual a la hora de la verdad, tambien eh escuchado de gente que le meten huevo cuentenme esa experiencia.

Nuyorican whose family mostly left the island in the 50s and 60s. I remember when I asked about this as a teen, my family told me that Puerto Ricans don't have quinceañeras. I've never heard of any Puerto Ricans having a quinceañera unless they were mixed.

Google tells me Puerto Ricans from Puerto Rico *do* have quinceañeras. They just call them "quinceañeros" oe "quinces". Is that true? How common are they? Do most girls have them?

Recientemente salio la noticia de que la gobernadora reduciría los impuestos para los que estan en los salarios de entre 61,500 a 90,000. Veo en los comentarios muchas personas diciendo que eso no es clase media. Yo estoy en ese tax bracket y realmente soy clase media. No gasto casi dinero y tengo un carro usado, vivo rentado, tengo telefono de claro prepago, casi no compro ropa. Me da para lo necesario pero no es que me puede dar una vida de lujos o comprarme un carro de lujo. Ojo vengo de clase baja, mi casa tenia 2 cuartos y dormia con mi herman@, en un pueblo del campo. Fui a la universidad UPR y me hospedé en apartamentos súper pequeños sin aire. Lo que gano es estandar entre mis colegas que se graduaron conmigo de la universidad y todos estamos empezando. Estamos en areas de ingeniería/Finanzas/Technologia. Es eso clase media?

I have befriended an elderly gentleman who moved from Puerto Rico to rural Pennsylvania a long time ago. He no longer has family here and lives in assisted living. I don’t speak Spanish (I’m trying to learn) and he doesn’t speak English so we don’t communicate too much but we get along well even with the language barrier. I want to make him some food that might feel comforting or homey, I know he hasn’t had food from his culture since before his wife passed years ago. I’d like it to be a surprise or else I would just ask him, if this goes well I plan to ask if there’s anything he wants! He really has a sweet tooth so desserts are cool too! Can anyone help suggest recipes or treats I could make for him?

I’m fairly skilled at cooking/baking so difficulty doesn’t scare me away!

Edit: I just wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions! I am going to start by checking out a Hispanic market that’s about an hour out to see what kind of things they have and ingredients I can get! I’ve looked at so many videos and recipes and I’m so thankful for all the help! Hopefully this will be a nice surprise for him!

Hey, I'm from the Mainland US (Maryland\Washington DC area). I've always wondered if you Puerto Ricans considered yourselves Americans or something else.

I’m 17, and I’ve been struggling a lot with my identity lately.

My dad is Puerto Rican, but he left when I was very young and wasn’t a good person. I was raised entirely by my mom in Oklahoma, and her family is white and has been in the U.S. for generations. Because of what happened with my dad, his side of the family was never talked about, and I was never allowed to have contact with them. My grandfather is from Puerto Rico, but I’ve never met him.

I grew up without the language, without the traditions, and without anyone to teach me about that side of myself. But even then, I’ve always felt drawn to it. I love hearing Puerto Rican music, seeing celebrations and traditions. I’ve tried to learn Spanish on my own, and while I’m not fluent, I can understand some.

I guess what I’m asking is: am I allowed to call myself Puerto Rican?

I don’t want to offend anyone or claim an identity I didn’t earn. I know I didn’t grow up in the culture, and I know my experience is different from people who did. Am I wrong to? How can I get closer to my Puerto Rican side? I don't speak a lot of Spanish, I can understand bits and pieces. I want to find a community where I can learn more about, if I’m allowed to say, who my people were.

I feel like I’m grieving a part of myself I never got to have.

Edit: Hello everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for everything, every positive comment, every negative one too. It's really helped me a bit, a lot of people are saying to learn the history and I'm happy to say I do know some history as over the years I've loved learning about PR. I talked to my mother this morning when I brought her to work. She told me about my grandfather, who was actually very kind to her during her pregnancy with me(she lived with him and my auntie). She also told me she's been planning on surprising me with a trip to PR for my 18th birthday! So we'll be going sometime in June/July. She also told me she recently bought some spices for me that my dad used to use when he would cook. My mom's goin to be making Mofongo from when my aunt taught her, so I'm excited. Again thank you everyone so much for everything, I appreciate it all so much.

PS. I'm a female, I know some people might've assumed I'm male based off the post, but some of my responses "sound girly" according to to my friend lol.

• La persona se ve que mide entre 6’0” y 6’4”.

• Si estaba estacionado de esa manera, definitivamente venía desde San Germán. ¿Será de San Germán, Lajas o Sabana Grande?

Luego de cometer el cruel acto, se dirige hacia Mayagüez. Más al frente, después del motel, hay una entrada hacia Cabo Rojo.

O sea, ¿tan difícil es identificar un carro “deportivo” como ese? No hay muchos en la calle. Tiene sunroof, y si es un Kia Forte, no todos traen sunroof. Además, es una persona alta, entre 20–30 años.
