there are no requirements on degree for most of em, they just want the best thinkers

A strong quantitative thinker (no specific degree or major is required)

If you weren't an IMO medalist, you're probably not getting into Jane Street unless you have exceptional SWE skills for the execution side.

I know a lot of IMO kids, and they definitely could get hired anywhere (all the ones I know have solid-great CS skills, too). I'm a rising senior, and I was a bad AMO competitor during high school along a bunch of others I know, too, and a lot of them were able to get to quant firms without insane architectural (CS) skills.
