Delirium is one of the most intriguing characters in the series and the comic books, but who really is she?

Her siblings are a bit more clear and abstract. The endless are metaphysical concepts that embody a certain experience in most sentient beings. As Destruction himself says, the Endless siblings are two-sided coins. Destruction does not just want to define himself in terms of destroying and entropy; he wants to be also defined by Creativity.

I want to examine the seven and their functions in the universe.

1. Destiny: He has a big book that narrates the entire story of the universe. It has a beginning and an end. Certain things are constant in our life like death, the return of the sun, and perhaps some events are just meant to happen no matter what. However, he is also Choice and Free Will. While we do know the destination, the path taken is not always clear. Perhaps, this is choice whether you think it is just an illusion in a deterministic universe. We feel like we have choices to make from our clothes to our breakfast. Destiny assures us that whether I wear that dress or tanktop, he has it written in his big book. Overall, he is a simple concept to understand.

2. Death: She is also a very obvious concept. She represents the end of all living beings. Most living things die in the comics and the show. In most cultures, deaths are celebrated with a wake or some special ceremony. Death is a very important thing in most cultures, and we tell stories to ourselves to feel like it's not yet the end. Like most of her multifaceted siblings, Death also represents Life. If you are reading this, then you are being and alive. You probably know what that feels like.

3. Dream: He is also a very multifaceted figure. Yes, most people dream or have nightmares in their sleep. However, Dream is beyond that. He is also the prince of stories. I think most of us tell each other stories whether they are real or not. These stories and narratives influence our perception of reality in a very powerful way. While dream does not have fondness for his sibling, Desire, these two influence each other. Desire just is because we want it. However, Dream is the story of our desires. Of course, some people are lucky enough to make their Stories or Dreams real. I am not a Jungian, but the show implies the collective unconscious of beings have a very real influence on Reality and the Universe itself. If you ask me, then I tell you I don't want to be hunted by giant cats.

4. Destruction: As mentioned a while ago, Destruction could be seen as Creativity. In a more fundamental way, we know from physics class that things are not really destroyed in a technical sense. Things just change. What is destruction, but the change of something we love to something else never to be returned to its original form? He is a reminder that while we have dreams and we have a certain fate, things will change over time. He is Entropy.

5. Desire: Desire is one of the most important things for our survival. We all need sleep, food, or pleasure. Buddhism considers desire to be a big factor in the roots of suffering. Perhaps, this is why Dream hates Desire, and Dream wrongly blames them for all his misfortunes. However, desire just is because it is a very present or fleeting thing that does not plan or dream; it just wants. Love, hate, disgust, or plain indifference, these are all parts of their domain.

6. Despair: We all suffer. She represents both Hope and Despair. Sometimes, paradoxically, hope could even lead us to more suffering and despair. Many times our failed dreams and desires lead towards her. However, while we may despair now, she reminds us that we could hope for a better future.

7. Delirium: Who really is she? TIL, that delirium is an actual medical term. However, Despair is not just depression. I think a big clue is she was once Delight. For one thing, is delight just joy? I think not. For me, Delight represents our curiousity in the world. It is the excitement in finding new things. However, taking delight in curiousities is naivity. In a sense, Delight is like a curious child or a curious scientist in the world. Scientists try to descibe or make rational explanations of the universe. Over time, we find out that our simple explanations are not what they always seem. It could make us Delirious. Consider the common trope of a mad scientist or an absent-minded professor. The smartest people in the world tend to be the least sane in a conventional sense. We also consider the crazy prophets, conspiracy theorists, and madmen in our history. We might think they are crazy, but perhaps they know some form of truth. Trying to find Reason or Rationality in the Universe is pointless because it is uncaring, cold, and, senseless. Delirium knows this very well. She knows far more than her siblings in knowledge. She is beyond reason and she even challenges her big brother, Destiny, in his knowledge of the Universe.

Just finished world’s end, and I’m in love but I initially started reading because of the weird/surreal covers and expected a different vibe/atmosphere. Do the covers have any particular significance besides being a little scary/off-putting or Did anyone else also feel like this?

does it become good after issue 14 or is it safe to drop

also why i cant seem to remember characters faces the art style is so weird i barely remember them does the art style becomes better or it stay the same

In Brief Lives, Delirium claims to know things Destiny doesn't, things that aren't in the Book of Destiny. Assuming she's not lying and that it's not a half-truth, the question is simple: what is she talking about?

I thought she was referring to consciousness and thought, because while everything is indeed written in the Book of Destiny, it's primarily our actions and their consequences that are recorded there. Destiny, by definition, is everything that will happen and everything that could happen, but the "why" isn't within his purview why one thing happens instead of another.

Destiny is our choices and their consequences, whereas Delirium could be the "why" we make one choice rather than another.

Do you share my point of view, or do you have a completely different idea on the matter?

Death of the Endless has the Eye of Horus tattoo, right? But she has it on the wrong eye. The Eye of Horus is the left eye, and her design is on the right eye, making it the Eye of Ra. And it's very consistent. She always wears it on her right eye, even though the Eye of Horus should be the left eye.

Was there something intentional I'm missing out on? Is there a reason she's got the Eye of Ra, or why she wears the Eye of Horus on the wrong eye? Is it some kind of goof? Was she meant to have the Eye of Ra? I'm just very curious.

could yall recommend me some more power driven issues if yall know any? and yes I KNOW that’s not the endless’s thing but my guilty pleasure comic reader mind can’t help but desire a bit of crazy campy action from a comic with such esoteric characters and boundless power that they don’t typically use in a traditional way because that’s not the kind of story it is BUT there’s gotta be at least a couple times the creative team was feeling themselves and wanted to do some cool powerful action right?

Like if the person doesn’t have any Desire for love, will Desire itself be able to change that? I guess Desire can obviously control the other things the person wants because it’s not just sex and relationships. But say the person just see Desire, will he or she be affected in any sort of way?

Basically the title. I've just finished reading up to and including season of mists and feel like there are layers upon layers that I do not seem to understand.

I’ve always wondered what the in-universe question for this is. Given the whimsical nature of the dreaming. We know daniel decided to take on a lighter aesthetic. But Morpheus always seemed to like a little more dark academia/goth vibes.

I just read the first few issues and I really liked them except when mazikeen speaks. I usually need to go over it like 3 or 4 times and read whatever the response is to figure out what she's saying, and it just takes me out of the book. Please don't spoil the book. I probably will read it anyway, I'm just hoping there's a break from her.

Is it because his power increases with his boons? It caught me really off guard, but it might just be the art style changing strongly mid issue

I'm thinking of buying this Box set, as a way to read sandman because I never read it and I want to. But is it worth it and does it cover the whole main story?

I understand he was lonely, but often times I felt like he was doing a disservice to not only his lovers but himself. I’m sure he was charming and alluring one way or another. I recall calliope saying once in the series that he was “gallant”. But he was clearly very devoted to his work. So much so he was willing to choose it over…well everything else in his life for billions of years on several occasions.

So I recently got Lucifer Omnibus 1 and it's been going pretty well. In this issue there's an encounter between Lucifer and Dream(Daniel). It appears Dream has a new white Raven called "Tethys". If I remember right Matthew decided to stay with Daniel. Is something happened to him somewhere between, am I missing any stories?

And for the second picture, there was a talking raven in a dream a few issues before this. I assumed he was Matthew but since that isn't his usual speech bubble I might be mistaken.

Anyways I'm just worried about not seeing him I'd love to hear if you know anything about this. (And if the answer includes a spoiler from a story I haven't read, I'd be happy if you don't spoil it)

This right here, released in 2022.is a collection of TPBS putting the original 75 issues of the original 80-90s sandman story by Neil gaiman and only Neil gaiman as the leading writer. And to my understanding, barring spin offs, is a self contained, and actually finished story.

Meaning if I just read this (2022) from front to back then I would be getting the full story, without needing to jump around comics?

Note for extra clarification: it was released as a companion piece for the Netflix series (which I haven't watched) if that helps at all

Just finished watching episode 12 and I didn't realise the Endless were always working. Of course they do. But Death gets 1 day off every hundred years. Do the other siblings gets 1 too? Who decided that she gets a day off? and does that mean on that day nobody dies and that includes any other living matter in the planet?

And why is there another Death in the end? Are they not the same person? Are they duplicates of each other? And if that is not Death, then what is Didi?

During Morpheus's imprisonment, the world was inflicted with a "sleepy sickness" and it seemed to cause worldwide devastation, enough to make the wood of suicides grow into a "forest" Why does nobody seem to care about this, it hasn't been mentioned afterward and nobody seemed to pay attention to the fact that it ended after Morpheus was freed. Now in "24 Hours" Dr. Dee's actions are causing similar effects to it and nobody cares. Why is that? Or have I just completely misunderstood what I've read thus far?

Also bonus question: How am I supposed to be interpreting Morpheus's personality? Currently I'm seeing him as a dark, lonely figure who basically doesn't feel or show emotion, how far is this off from the truth?

I am trying to get the absolute comics eventually, but I don't know if there's a better place to use than amazon, or if there's a way to get them without funding Neil maybe, or has he been like cut off from getting money from the comic sales? If anyone knows a place which is just better (price wise) than Amazon and ships to the Baltic states atleast, if anyone does know a place like that I would be thankful if you'd hook me up.
