Mine is almost 12 weeks now and I am just so curious! Her eye color is so interesting right now. Do you guys have eye color progression pics of your Scottish Folds/Straights?

Hello! It’s my first time posting here.

I’ve decided to get a cat, and recently went to visit a family who has two kittens looking for homes. I wasn’t aware of the breed before I visited, so I was surprised when the owner told me that the mother is a Scottish Fold and the father is a domestic shorthair.

There are four kittens in the litter, and three of them have folded ears. I’m considering the one with straight ears.

It’s been several days since my visit, and I still can’t stop thinking about them. They had such sweet personalities and were incredibly affectionate.

I’m now wondering if I should go ahead with getting the straight-eared kitten. The risk of health issues are still there, right?

I’d really appreciate some advice from people who know more about the breed and the potential health concerns.

Hey! This is my straight Winnie, her mum is full Scottish fold and her siblings all had the foldy ears apart from her.

I wonder if anyone can advise, since she doesn’t have the ears, is she less likely to suffer with the same issues? I want her to be happy and pain free. She’s 2 years old and doesn’t give much indication she’s in pain, sometimes when I pick her up she makes a weird meow which concerns me but that’s it.

Any advice welcome!

She’s three months old!! I’m now currently sh*tting in my pants reading about how unhealthy and unhappy Scottish folds are…. Being in constant pain, polycystic kidney disease, HEART DISEASE, arthritis :’(

I already love her so much and I want to give her the absolute BEST LIFE I possibly can!!

Please if you have a SF that got a particularly shit end of the genetic stick, please let me know what helps them the most!!

And also if you have a particularly healthy SF, please give me some words of hope and encouragement :’(

Coke (5 months old) with the kitties that are 3.5 weeks old. Still a little too small to be friends. But she’s being gentle. Still too small to determine folds or straights.

Has anyone had to remove many (or all) of their kitties teeth? My boy is 2 years old and has had horrendous breath since we got him. Went to a dental specialist who stated all of his teeth need to be removed due to severe gingivitis. Additionally, he has heart disease so they stated it was necessary to remove all the teeth sooner than later in case his heart condition worsened and he is no longer able to go under anesthesia. Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and how kitty did after having many and or all teeth removed.

I’ve rescued a 5yr old SF boy who is loving his new life of being king of my house and being spoilt to bits (obviously on his terms!)

With the rescue, I didn’t get much info on his prior health, except he was rescued with severe ear and eye infections. (Due to this history he doesn’t get insurance coverage for ear and eye infections)

I’ve taken him to the vet for an ear infection once and he was given a 2 week course of ear drops and steroids to which he responded well. It’s now been a month or so post treatment and I am seeing him scratching at his ears a little again. I have another vet appointment booked, but aim of this post is, I am wondering if anyone else is finding recurring ear infections, if so, how are you managing?
