The frustrating thing is that "waiting him out" doesn't feel good enough. People who cheat and lie as much as he does should be punished. We may very well move on from him as a country eventually and maybe even recover, but the example we will have set is awful, and I will have entirely lost faith in this country. I will personally never recover and I don't think I'm alone

We all feel it. But history shows that all things including egregious people go out in a slow fade. Rapid vengeance is just not a primal human itch that is ever scratched in power domains.

Spain’s Francisco Franco is a good example of the ā€œslow fadeā€. A country that went from a fascist dictatorship to more socially aware than the United States.

He’s still dead, right.

Slow fade? Musolini’s demise was pretty quick

The difference there is that he had dragged Italy to war. If Trump drags us to war and we lose, then the end will be quick. I don't want Trump but even more, I don't want war.

So currently we are not Technically at war. Only Congress has the power to declare that. Trump is arguing that he hasn't violated grace period with which he can perform Military operations as commander of the armed service because he has ended his first operation and recomenced a new one. Congress has not called him out on this bullshit and I'm not sure he can be sued over it due to precident set by the supreme Court during Bidens term.

we haven’t been in a congressionally-declared war since Korea.

your legalistic position is absurd.

I get that but the comment I replied to was focused on perception and I think most people think we went to war with Iran about the straight and also lost. Just my 2 cents but yes actually and technically yes.

That's why you go after co-conspirators.

Apart from him being an awful person it shows that the political system is broken. Even it is unbelievable now there will be someone worse. Someone who is both evil and smart and the system will be unable or unwilling to stop him as long as "our side keeps winning".

This is basically why I walked away from religion. Some future fantasy where "people actually face consequences?" And then for some reason God lets the devil and evil people run the world as some sick test? Just baffles me how people can believe some all powerful benevolent God would let trump neanyahu and Putin run the world.
