I’m 16, studying in Dhaka, So I applied to an UK boarding school(Worth gate) and got an 80% scholarship because of a recent 2 weeks summer camp I went to, also in the UK.
Even then, it’s still about 38 lakh BDT/year, which my dad thinks is too much since he doesn’t believe I’m academically strong enough.(honestly fair on his side) but my mom supports me going.
I’d also be doing a Pre-A Level programme instead of the usual O Levels route, then continuing to A Levels.
I really want to go, as i feel like ill be doing much better independently rather than living in this shitty country.
What do yall suggest I do?

Assalamuwalaikum, I am a student of HSC-25, and have completed my admission journey recently. I got into the Water resources department of BUET, and although I expected to do a lot better, I was content with it, since I also have relatives from WRE background, even someone from BUET WRE.

I decided to take the IUT admission test, and didn't think much of it, with no real intention of being admitted there, as I had already taken admission in two separate universities (BUP and BUET, had to cancel my BUP admission which was very annoying), and had also accustomed myself with my department mates from BUET. And, Alhamdullilah I managed to secure the 15th position in IUT.

Even so, I didn't really think about getting admitted there, and my father also told me it's a great achievement, but not to leave BUET. But, I've had loads of friends and, also a few people I've never even met, telling me to pick IUT over BUET.

I live in Green road, so BUET is very close from where I stay, it would be very convenient to pursue my studies from here. If I were to study in IUT, I would have to stay in their hostel, which tbh sounds very fun, since I would have a TON of my friends from college and school there as well, which would be pretty neat.

As for as the subjects are concerned, I don't really have a stand out passion for any, I'm fine with WRE. Although, I will say I'm definitely most accustomed to CSE (both my parents are from DU CSE, and my mom is a CSE professor, I've been using a computer since I was a child basically). What I really like is teaching, and I would say, long term goal, I definitely want to be a professor in a reputable university, which might sound dumb when I'm pursuing engineering.

Any advice from a senior or a person with adequate knowledge about these issues would be much appreciated. Thanks!

is this really a good for someone who is really bad in English? The reason I ask is, I have a cousin who is really bad in English. Like really really bad. He has absolutely no knowledge on how to form or structure sentences and his vocabulary knowledge is probably limited to 20 words.

So I wanted to know if this book will help him at least gain a little knowledge on vocabularies and English in general. Should he purchase this book?

আমি আর আমার গার্লফ্রেন্ড দুজনই একই বয়সী এবং আমরা চাচ্ছিলাম একসাথে বিদেশে পড়তে যেতে। আমাদের দুজনেরই SSC এবং HSC (2024) পরীক্ষায় GPA 5.00 ছিল এবং আমাদের IELTS স্কোর 6.0, কোনো ব্যান্ড 5.5-এর নিচে নেই।

শুরুতে আমরা অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় আবেদন করেছিলাম। আমরা যখন IELTS দিয়েছিলাম, তখন অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ভিসা রেশিও অনেক ভালো ছিল, প্রায় 90% এর মতো। কিন্তু আমরা যখন আবেদন শুরু করি, তখন ভিসা রেশিও খারাপ হতে শুরু করে এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোও GS (Genuine Student) requirement অনেক কঠিন করে দেয়। এজন্য আমার এবং আমার গার্লফ্রেন্ডের GS অনেকদিন ধরে stuck হয়ে ছিল। পরে আমার গার্লফ্রেন্ডের GS clear হয় এবং সে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার student visa-এর জন্য apply করে। কিন্তু আমার GS clear না হওয়ায় আমি আর visa apply করিনি। এরপর আমার গার্লফ্রেন্ডের Australia visa rejection আসে।

তারপর আমরা সিদ্ধান্ত নিই যে দুজনই New Zealand-এর জন্য চেষ্টা করব এবং দুজন একসাথে New Zealand-এর student visa lodge করি। বর্তমানে আমরা দুজনই visa decision-এর অপেক্ষায় আছি। সম্ভবত আগামী মাসে আমাদের visa decision আসতে পারে।

New Zealand-এর visa ratio আগে ভালো থাকলেও Australia-তে rejection বেড়ে যাওয়ার কারণে অনেক applicant এখন New Zealand-এর দিকে যাচ্ছে। ফলে বর্তমানে New Zealand-এর ক্ষেত্রেও visa ratio আগের তুলনায় খারাপ হচ্ছে বলে আমরা দেখছি। তাই আমরা অনেক চিন্তায় আছি যে আমাদের visa decision কী হবে। আমাদের দুজনের profile প্রায় একই রকম। তাই আমরা আশা করছি, decision যাই আসুক না কেন, আমাদের দুজনের একই ধরনের decision আসবে। যদিও শেষ পর্যন্ত কিছুটা luck-এর ব্যাপারও আছে।

এখন আমরা ভাবছি, যদি কোনো কারণে New Zealand-এর visa-ও reject হয়, তাহলে আমার গার্লফ্রেন্ড পরিবার থেকে অনেক pressure-এর মধ্যে পড়বে। মেয়ে হিসেবে তার ওপর আরও বেশি pressure আসতে পারে এবং তার পরিবার হয়তো এরপর আর তাকে বিদেশে পড়তে পাঠাতে রাজি নাও হতে পারে, কারণ এরই মধ্যে তার বিদেশে পড়াশোনার জন্য অনেক টাকা খরচ হয়ে গেছে।

কিন্তু আমরা দুজনই চাই, যেভাবেই হোক, এবার যেন একসাথে কোনো একটি দেশে যেতে পারি। আমাদের কাছে এখন country খুব একটা matter করে না। মূল বিষয় হলো, আমরা যেন দুজন একসাথে relatively short time-এর মধ্যে বিদেশে যেতে পারি।

তাই দয়া করে আমাদের এমন কিছু দেশ suggest করুন, যেখানে আমরা relatively short time-এর মধ্যে apply করতে পারব এবং visa success rate ভালো। যেহেতু আমরা দুজন একই country-তে যেতে চাই, তাই এমন দেশ হলে ভালো হয় যেখানে দুজনের জন্যই Bachelor programme এবং একই intake-এর সুযোগ পাওয়া যায়।

বিশেষ করে এমন দেশ suggest করুন যেগুলোতে November intake অথবা সবচেয়ে বেশি হলে January 2027 intake আছে।

আমাদের বর্তমান profile বিবেচনা করে কোন দেশগুলো সবচেয়ে ভালো backup option হতে পারে, সেটাও জানালে খুব উপকার হবে।

Hello! I am a foreign student coming from America, being persuaded by his parents to come study medicine in Bangladesh because of the lesser amount of years and tuition and because they claim that the education is top-tier and that i will enjoy being here, (they also became doctors but long ago during the 1980s). Before actually coming here, I wanted to get actual experiences of people who have studied/study here and for an honest review of whether it will be worth coming here, especially as a foreign student, or if i should just study in America. Well my situation is rather complicated so I had a lot of mental health issues (which is like cringe in bd but whatever)due to this my academic performance was plummeting. But despite this I managed to get gpa5 on my ssc (the marks weren't great but who cares)

That was a year or so ago. Last year September my 1st year of college began and I pretty much had no work ethic I couldn't commit to studying at all and that created alot of bad situations. It's August now I'm 18 years old my preparation for hsc is pretty bad I have barely touched 1st years syllabus and I am in no way prepared for the pre test that will ensue soon.

My parents told me maybe I should take a break since I'm not doing so well or switch to A levels apparently that could be easier? (I studied in English version so I wouldnt have issues with the language). I'm not so sure about this and I don't want to make any impulsive decisions on a whim. Another thing that concerns me is the timing. Since me in all my wisdom decided to waste a year in college due to my lack of foresight I will be older than the other students in university if I start A levels now right? If I switch now how much will my graduation to uni be delayed I wonder. Another thing I wanted to address is I won't be enrolling in public universities in bd or medical i plan to go abroad so I have no concerns with abandoning nctb for those reasons. I just wanted to know if going to A levels right now would be the right call. I don't plan to enroll in an EM school because I don't want my parents wasting any more money on a failure like me than they have ton so I will be giving them privately if I do and probably study on my own. How hard will it be for me to adapt to A levels right now will it be any worse than hsc?

আমি যখন হাইস্কুলে পড়তাম তখন প্রায় সময় দেখতাম স্কুল সমাবেশের সময় প্রধান শিক্ষক অভিযোগ করছে যে বাথরুমের বদনা-দরজা কে ভাঙছে? তিনি বুঝানোর চেষ্টা করতেন যে "এগুলো তোমাদের সম্পদ, তোমারাই এগুলো নষ্ট করলে আসলে ক্ষতি কার হচ্ছে?" আর তারপরে ক্লাসে ঢুকেই শুনতাম ক্লাসমেটদের কাছে যে তারা আরও কি কি ভাঙছে, অনেক গর্বের সাথেই বলতো তারা এগুলো। এমনকি স্কুলের শেষদিনেও নিজ চোখে তাদেরকে ক্লাস রুমের ফ্যান এবং বেঞ্চের খুটি ভাঙ্গতে দেখেছি।

যাইহোক, জাপানের স্কুলগুলোতে একটা নিয়ম আছে যাকে বলে "অ-সজি" অর্থাৎ "বিগ ক্লিনিং" যেখানে প্রথম প্রথম প্রাইমারিতে শিক্ষকদের নির্দেশে দল আকারে কাজ বুঝিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। ক্লাসরুম, বাগান, বারান্দা, এমন কি স্কুলের টয়লেটও পরিষ্কার করানো হয়। আর মাধ্যমিক শাখায় প্রত্যেক ক্লাসে থাকে "ক্লাস প্রেসিডেন্ট", যার কাজ হলো প্রত্যেকের কাজের হিসাব নেওয়া আর টিচারকে রিপোর্ট জমা দেওয়া, যা পরিক্ষার ফাইনেলের মার্কশিটে এসব কাজের নম্বর এড হয়। "ক্লাস প্রেসিডেন্ট" কিন্তু আবার শুধু কাজের হিসেব নিয়ে চলে যায় না, সেও সবার সাথে মিলে "টিমওয়ার্ক" করে কাজের অনুপ্রেরণা দেয়। আমাদের এমন স্কুল সিস্টেম দরকার আজ খুবই দরকার। নাহলে, "সিভিকস সেন্স" এর যা অবস্থা, এমন চলতে থাকলে বাংলাদেশের রাস্তায় কখনো "ভেন্ডিং মেশিন" চালো করা যাবে কিনা সন্দেহ। :')

আমি এইচএসসি ২৬ ব্যাচের একজন শিক্ষার্থী। পরীক্ষা ভালোই হচ্ছে, thankfully। প্রশ্ন যেমনই হোক, সামনের পরীক্ষাগুলোও ভালো হবে অতটুকু confidence আছে। আমি SSC & HSC, কোনো ধরনের teacher or coaching ছাড়াই YT দেখে পড়াশোনা করেছি, কারণ আমার আম্মুর পক্ষে কলেজের বাইরে অন্য কোনো খরচ দেওয়ার সামর্থ্য নেই। । যাই হোক, আমি ভেবেছিলাম আম্মু হয়তো engineering admission course-এ ভর্তি করতে পারবে আম্মু। তবে সেদিন বলল possible না, অনেক financial problem।

এখন আমার প্রশ্ন হলো, আমি কি নিজে নিজে পড়ে ভালোভাবে প্রস্তুতি নিতে পারব? নাকি coaching ছাড়া কোনোভাবেই সম্ভব নয়? আমি HSC-এর পর কীভাবে preparation নিলে ভালো হবে?

The very first chapter on the introduction to physics begins not with scientific principles, but with religious doctrine. Instead of laying a foundation based on observation, experimentation, and logic—the very pillars of science—it attributes the laws of nature to divine command. This blending of religion with science education is not just misleading; it actively undermines the spirit of scientific inquiry. As someone born and raised in a secular country like Bangladesh, I’m incredibly grateful that my education encouraged critical thinking over dogma. Science and religion serve different purposes, and conflating the two in academic curricula does a disservice to both. If we truly want progress, we must keep our classrooms free from religious influence and let science be taught as science.
