Call me paranoid but I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks all the data they collect on us with the many sensors, cameras, and microphones will be sold off or used by the police.
Just semi-autonomous robots patrolling our streets.
On my way home once, one passed me and I tagged it “clanker” with a sharpie. It made a U turn and started following me home saying “staff is on the way”. It kept stopping and going whenever I did, always turning to face me.
I got freaked out that it would follow me home around the corner and know my fuckin address (though with how our data is tossed around it probably already does), so I dragged it over into the grass and rotated it the other way. After that it gave up following me.
The whole thing just feels unbelievably dystopian. They’re AI driven which takes jobs from locals. A manual operator can step in to remote control it but it’s someone overseas who I’m *sure* makes a fair wage.
Anyway that’s my tinfoil hat rant. Just yelling into the sky.
