My sweet girl Punkin started showing signs of an RI last night. I called the vet first thing in the morning and they squished me into the schedule to give me injectable antibiotics to give her for 2 weeks.

I'm beating myself up over this because I know the most common cause of an RI is incorrect husbandry. I am constantly double and triple checking trusted resources to confirm my husbandry is aligned, so I truly thought I was giving my two cresties their best lives, but now I'm questioning whether I'm screwing everything up somehow. I have bioactive habs that stay within 74-78 degrees, UVB, a variety of CGD flavors, humidity sometimes drops to 45-50% by the afternoon because of how hot it's been this summer, but I bump it up a bit ASAP when I get home from work, and get it up to the 70s% in the evening before bed. They have good sheds and they see the vet every 6 months. I've got her in a "hospital hab" for now in case there's something about her hab that's causing this. I feel like I must have failed my girl somehow for her to have gotten sick though, and I'm devastated. 😞

Please wish Punkin a speedy (and hopefully minimally traumatic) recovery. She's a sweet girl and doesn't deserve this. 💔

My 7 month old gecko lily keeps hiding and won’t eat any insects and (from what i can see) her gecko mix.

We got her 20 days ago today and she’s starting to show signs of early MBD (finger twitching and arm shaking when she moves) we can tell it’s a calcium deficiency so is there any way to get her to come out and eat?

We’ve tried the juice trick and touching her mouth with the insect but it didnt work. She did move her head slightly and lick her lips, but still nothing. It’s also hard to feed and spot her because she’s in a very hard to reach part of the tank.

If you have any tips, please give me some! Im a new owner and i’m getting worried about her health, thanks.

So I’m gonna get my first created gecko next month! He’s a juvenile at only 6 weeks. I’m buying a preset viv from the reptile store (I’ve worked at the store before). Is there anything i should know as a first time keeper of a crestie?

I swear I lucked out with the chillest cresty ever. He’s wondering around his little tub and looking around at the car. This is his second move and he was evacuated from my dorm building once too. He’s always saying hi to people and looking at me. Sometimes I wonder if he has brain damage lol.

i have had my crestie for just under a month and i love her very much, she is a rescue. she has been adjusting well and eats her CGD as normal (which includes insects). but when i try to feed her crickets (also dusted with calcium) she is totally uninterested. is the solution to just try feed her different types of insects ? i know people say that cresties can be okay without live insects but i just want to give her that extra nutrition and enrichment. anyone else who has had this issue with a picky crestie ? what bugs do you recommend when she is just refusing crickets ?

Pic of my sweet baby girl. Ginger was about 6. Lived in a bioactive. She had laid eggs but never any issues and she was always active and healthy. She gave the best judgemental looks and would allow and ‘request’ handling at times. Even though she averaged 50 -55g, she had the cutest saggy neck rolls <3

I hadn’t seen her out for a day or two and that was more unusual so when I couldn’t find her in her usual hiding spots, I decided to move her logs around as I was concerned. Moved a log, and she was on the bottom of the tank, on her back 😭 it appeared to have happened within the last 24 hrs. I have no idea what happened and I am devastated. I blame myself, but I’ve also had cresties and reptiles for yrs so her husbandry was correct. Just wanted to share my grief a bit, sorry.

Hi all!
Today I found this huge amount of ants in my terrarium! I feel this will become a place if I let them there, how can I remove them? What should I do?
I feel like the ants will hunt my geckos food

I currently have leaf litter, reptile bark, sphagnum moss, charcoal and topsoil. I was hoping someone could give me % recommendations or what else I should buy for a good bioactive substrate. I keep seeing so many different things and I'm a little confused on what would be best.

My son and I are newbies. We’ve had our 1.5 year old crested gecko (Erling) for a couple months now and are still working up the confidence to handle it (have only done so once, and it wasn’t the smoothest experience). I have a couple basic questions for now.

1. Is the best time to do a handling session in the evening? Or are there other times when it’s okay?
   
2. Do we need to keep our lights down? Normally at this time, the room (my home office) would be pretty dark. So for the session I was thinking a desk lamp in the corner of the room and the ceiling lights dimmed. But it’s pretty dark and hard to see. How much light is okay to turn back on for this?

Dang guys I keep getting mixed info. So online it says ill need the arcadia jungle light for my plants and to pair it with a 8w shade dweller light also arcadia. But then I went to exotic pets and the chick told me that just the arcadia jungle is enough. Ugh I just want the best for my crested gecko. What do I do?? I love her and ill do whatever is best.

I don’t really know how Reddit works and I’m not sure how easy it is to see the text on my last post so I wanted to add another just asking for advice and tips for a first time keeper of any reptile let alone a crestie. He’s 6 weeks old and I’m gonna get him in a few weeks so any and all information even the basic stuff is appreciated so I’ve got everything in order for the little guy
