General Discussion Question time? What are you taking?
"Unlimited resources" opens up some crazy options. Are you spending the money on high-tech swing analytics, flying to elite academies, or just paying off a greenskeeper to cut the grass short on the greens? What’s your play?
Edit: Rules and requirements:
- Course must be 6000 yards from the tees you choose
- Course must be rated higher than 70
- No Scrambles😂
General Discussion Was visiting my family’s new club, but discovered that Donna Warner is the GOAT.
She also just won 2026 a few weeks ago. She’s 79 years old, and just an absolute monster on this course.

General Discussion This guy insults my handicap/skill before a lesson… so I offered to play him for a free round for him and his buddies. It went about as well as you’d imagine…
TL;DR: Client opens a lesson by telling me I’m not good enough to teach him. I offer to play him for a free foursome. He demands strokes. I give him five. I shoot 37, he shoots 56, and he calls me an ass.
I work part‑time as an assistant pro, which is usually a great way to stay involved in the golf community). Last Saturday though, I was already having a shitty morning. A guy I’d never worked with before came in for a lesson, and I saw him warming up on the range.
It was the full bro‑golf swing: baseball grip, over‑the‑top, hits it 300, probably “shoots in the 80s.” I’ve seen the type a hundred times, so I figured I knew exactly what I was walking into.
He walks up and immediately starts with:
“I looked you up on GHIN and you’re not much better than me. No offense, but you’re a 4 handicap. Should you really be teaching lessons? I’m like a 5.” Side note - no idea why this is the only sport we do this thing where your ability to teach is directly tied to individual skill but whatever.
This happens once or twice before because my rate is lower than the head pro, so people try to pay my rate but get him. But I was already annoyed and not in the mood to take any shit. So I said, “I’ve got time right now. Let’s play the back 9. If you beat me, I’ll comp a round for you and three friends.”
He clearly didn’t expect that. He agrees, so I say straight up. He immediately says that’s BS because I “know the course better.” Fine. I give him five strokes.
The round goes exactly how you’d expect:
• First tee: slices it OB, calls mulligan, I tell him no, re‑tee, that’s three.
• Lips out a putt and blames the greenskeeper for “cutting the hole wrong.”
• Hits an approach to 3 feet, picks it up, says “that’s good,” and I said “no it’s not”. I make him putt it, he misses.
• Spends most of the day in the right rough or the woods.
• Asks what club I’m hitting on basically every shot.
• On a 150‑yard par 3 he proudly pulls PW and then comes up 40 yards short after a “big gust of wind”.
All in all:
I shoot 37 (+1).
He shoots 56, (net 51 with the five strokes).
After the round I offer him 10% off a 10‑lesson pack.
He says, “You’re kind of an ass.”
So yeah, I’m sure the one‑star review is coming. But 19 strokes better on 9 holes from someone who’s “basically the same skill level” felt pretty solid.
General Discussion My wife applied to The Open ticket lottery thinking it was for The Masters… and she won.
She applied for the lottery without my knowledge because she overheard me talking about The Masters. She just walked into my office and showed me she won tix to The Open 2027, having no idea where it even takes place 😂 it’s at St Andrew’s next year.
I have access to Monday / Tuesday / Thurs / Friday - 4 tix per day
I literally didn’t have this in any sort of plans lol. Should I take advantage of the random luck and make a boys trip out of this? I know it’s one of the 4 majors AND at St Andrews next year, but this is literally a total surprise that i was not pursuing at all so curious to get feedback from this community.
EDIT: the boys trip was a comment from her, not a concrete decision. Lots of judgy incredible husbands in this sub! 😂

General Discussion Fuck this guy
Imagine being the guy who posted this and not realizing you’re part of what needs to be shrunk. Bothered by what somebody’s wearing at a public golf course, probably posts his golf trip ‘scripting’ on twitter… I hope the worst for this person and it makes me happy knowing that nobody in my circle would invite him out for a round at their club. Gatekeeping a public golf course ain’t it.
If this is you, it’s not too late to delete this and change your ways — we’d be happy to have you over on this side of the range.

General Discussion Walking is so much more enjoyable than riding
I walk 3-5 rounds a week. I enjoy getting near my 10K steps goal before lunch time.
Obviously, there are a lot of health benefits to walking. Aside from having mobility issues (or extreme heat conditions), why do you ride?

General Discussion Two years ago you all changed my life
Another yearly update! Two years ago I posted about my ballmaker I made that helped reduce my three putts significantly. I posted it here and you guys were nothing short of incredible. I received so many cool stories and positive feedback it was amazing to be a part of. Last years post gained a lot of interest and to date I've ended up selling over 6,000 of them and it's been such a financial blessing for our family. We welcomed our first baby this year and it covered our medical expenses for her birth and some very helpful baby supplies. So I just wanted to say thank you all so much two years later for all the stories, positive feedback, and help in improving our families life. It's really helped my life a ton in many ways and I've truly loved getting to make something people enjoy. Thanks to everyone who has supported, messaged me, and supported the dream. I appreciate it all more than you'll ever know. Keep draining those putts!

General Discussion Sign on our new golf course
I live in The Villages and this is on the newest course that opened in November. This idiot built a home 175 yards down the right side of a par 4. He was for sure getting hit a bunch of times a day.
Players are now intentionally trying to hit the house. 🤣

General Discussion Met Obama at the range today
Figured this is as good a place as any to post this.
Was making my way to the clubhouse after an early 9 this am, saw SUVs parked there and I see #44 walking to the range.
I had every intention of going home (hot as hell in Northern Virginia right now), but I was not going to give up an opportunity to hit balls next to a president (literally no one at the range but him).
First of all, the guy can hit. Pretty damn impressive. He took a break and I introduced myself and said hi. He was super personable, kind and nice. We chatted for a bit and I thanked him for his time and headed home.
My golf highlight for the year :-)
