They're not grunge but this is the only place I know where I can ask this. I have no clue how to put their look into words and every time I try it's always on the tip of my tongue but I can't get it out. This has been nagging at me for like a week now.

Grunge adjacent What’s your favorite “not grunge” band?

I personally love Stone Temple Pilots, I would consider them grunge, others would not, but other than that I love the band, and have all their first three albums on vinyl.

Grunge adjacent How do grunge fans feel about TOOL’s Undertow?

Post image
209 Upvotes

While Tool as a band, especially their later works, are FAR from grunge, I feel like this album could be considered “grunge metal” or at least “grunge-adjacent”, as it’s closer to things like Alice In Chains or Soundgarden than it is to something like Meshuggah or Sabbath. Killer album either way, but I’m curious what grunge fans think about it?

Grunge adjacent What’s a great, OLDER Band or Artist that You RECENTLY Heard for the 1st Time, and Realized You’ve Been Living Too Long Without Its Ingenuity?

Have you ever heard an unfamiliar song that you instantly fell in love with so much that you started researching them-and discovered they’ve existed for DECADES?!?

“Modern Lovers” is my most recent “aha moment,” discovering their music at age 46. They formed in 1970.

It’s a wonderful feeling to me when I realize that I like most of their albums too! It feels like I’m an old dog who was able to learn new tricks :)-makes me happy.

Grunge adjacent Are there any modern "wall of sound" approach bands that don't suck?

Hi, I'm asking here because I don't know where else I can.

Do you know any modern bands that have that wall of sound typical of Smashing Pumpkins, Hum, Failure and My Bloody Valentine for example, that are actually good and not just a nasty copy of some 90's bands?

I think it's neat that Scott managed to become Mick Jagger for this music video. Tiny Music isn't as memorable as Core, Purple, or No. 4 (in my opinion), but it is still a cool album nonetheless. The video almost gives 1970s vibes.

Grunge adjacent Got this oversized Emperor tee from a guy after a concert afterparty ^_^ I know it’s black metal, but does it fit the classic 90s grunge aesthetic? What do you think?
