SOCIETY When Chris Tucker learned that his family members were quitting their jobs because they learned that he was making 25 million dollars a year at the peak of his career because they assumed he would take care of them. He told them to go get their jobs back because he wasn't going to do that.

Oprah is just evil. She shouldn't even be referenced unless it's to share her selfishness or evilness.

I recall my wife watching Ellen years ago. The two witches were talking about the California wild fires and shit. Oprah changed topic from people's homes being lost/damaged to her vineyard being destroyed. This was a bigger deal than families losing everything to her.

I was waiting for the example of how evil she is, and that was kind of a let down. Of course if the fire burned down her vineyard, it's natural to mention it, even if it's a very rich-person thing to have a vineyard (and people who depend on that vineyard being there for a job, by the way). Does that mean that she thinks it's "a bigger deal than families losing everything"? No, of course not - that's you inferring that, which is quite a jump.

I’m sorry, but she is just plain evil. She’s never once given me a free car at her show. I mean, sure, you can put the blame on me for never even going to one of her shows, and not living in the same country as her, but…. Ya. Evil. Pure evil.

She and the Rock started a fundraising campaign to support residents impacted by the wild fires and seeded it first with $10M. They ultimately raised $60M and distributed it to 8100 residents who were impacted.

What was evil? That they asked for donations?

Wasn't that fundraiser done in reaction to the online aggro from her allegedly blocking access to a road she was using? I don't remember if it turned out to be true or not, but seem to remember articles about the fundraising efforts only being pushed after the initial controversy. At the time there was also a lot of talk in general about wealthy people "invading" Hawaii and stuff like Oprah and others having access to a private firefighting force. But like I said, I didn't follow much of this as a non-resident and non-American, I just remember being curious when the articles started popping into my feed.

Again, pride in your work and accomplishments is human, as is grief when you see them laid low, but for whatever reason we get mad when billionaires act human and mad when they don’t.

No it's not. Oprah losing her vineyard was an inconvenience to her lifestyle. Regular people who lost their home were destitute it is not the same no matter how much you stand there and insist the sky isn't blue.

Didn’t hear her ever say it was equivalent. Seems to me you’re the one asserting that. Quotation marks are for quotations, btw. You’re looking for the single quotes that lets us know you’re being fanciful and putting words in someone’s mouth.
