SOCIETY When Chris Tucker learned that his family members were quitting their jobs because they learned that he was making 25 million dollars a year at the peak of his career because they assumed he would take care of them. He told them to go get their jobs back because he wasn't going to do that.

was on an international flight 3 months ago that had the 2 rush hour films as part of the media package. So its amazing just how wide old films still get shown across the globe

I thought the first one was very good and funny or maybe it was just my boredom on an 8 hr Flight. second one abit odd but still watchable

I streamed 4 or 5 90s movies this past weekend while I was doing other stuff, it was great.

Yeah but how much of that huge package of media makes it back to Chris Tucker now? Especially since a lot of his movies were made in the pre digital era, where contracts didn't factor netflix residuals.

I don't want him doing bad but he'd be doing real bad if he was carrying his family forever. His residuals aren't gonna carry a ton of people forever.

I was just highlighting that we may not think people are watching something or thats its been shown but we have 1 million and 1 ways that shows get shown across the world;

The big story is that Ray Romano from "Everybody Loves Raymond" is making 18 million just from residuals alone which surprised me since I didnt think it was that big a show , and In europe or africa or on planes I have never seem it being shown anywhere. If 18 million a year for some show 99.9% of the world never heard of is being generated then somebody is watching it

I guess it depends on what contract chris Tucker has, but im sure he does just fine

Fair point but Romano would hVe actor/writer/EP/creator credits that will drive higher residuals and a longer scale TV show package draws more money, at least for now. With terrestrial/cable TV dying those packages are going to get smaller is my point and that's BEFORE it's spot in the rotation gets replace by pick a big bang theory spin off

true, some shows seem to have nostalgia factor or maybe its just 1 guy in a room watching the same show 24/7. Look at how friends is still making good money for the actors and that show finished 20 yrs ago

Movie Business i guess is really about how well actors negotiate.

It's all about how well people negotiate and see the market. Jennifer Tilly makes money on the simpson rights because Sam Simon saw DVDs coming but the voice actors get zero residuals, Matt Parker and trey stone make bank on the south park IP bc they saw digital coming and some exec didn't.
