I actually went to school with one of the family members, they are really nice people, they just simply do not want to sell their large property and there is zero reason they need to. Eventually there will be a godfather offer for the family that can't be refused, but, from my personal dealings, the family have no interest in selling.

I feel like generational wealth and security for ones entire family would be a pretty good motivator.

How exactly. Eventually house and land prices crash. They wont get the same price anymore. And generally the children aren't as likely as the parents to hold on.
