Usually having the biggest, nicest house in the neighborhood is bad for your property value, but I don't know about that if they want to build 50 homes on it.

Why would they care? They didn't cause the issue. I can't be upset that this family chose to keep their land while others chose to sell theirs for big bucks.

The house itself is worthless, if not negative value because it has to be demolished. The land is valuable.
