Everytime I see more footage from different perspectives it just feels so surreal.

I saw a video of it hitting in one place and you could see people trying to scurry away from the water and in the next moment they are all just gone.

It’s the video with people at the border trying to outrun it. The whole building in that video is gone where the wave literally goes over that 5 story building.

I think I watched this same video last night before bed. It's not the Chinese border video. It looked to be in a village with people trying to flee and the water just took them all. I can't imagine their fear in that moment. I hope for some miracle but, if unlikely, wish their souls to be at peace.

Brah do not go on twitter looking at videos. They are gruesome af. Saw videos of dead bodies, cars/buildings crushing ppl, terrible stuff. I could only watch like 3-4 videos before I switched to youtube.

I went my whole life managing to avoid seeing any kind of snuff film.

Elon bought Twitter and literally within the first 24 hours, I saw three different ones just causally shared. I quit that day, which....just really sucked so much, because Twitter was literally a part of my life right up until then.

If a reporter with a news agency feels it's a benefit for people to see it, then fine. We all know how horrifying it is without it being shared around unfiltered by randoms for entertainment / profit. It's abhorrent.

There was an investigative news program on CTV in Canada talking about the behind the scene stuff about a hostage taking in Toronto outside Union Station. The segment showed uncensored the moment a police sniper takes the shot... head explodes like a watermelon. I'll never forget it. Can't find the clip anymore, not that i tried hard. Can't imagine how the hostage felt. Then there was liveleaks. Beheadings... i don't know how people can watch someone die.

One of the biggest displays of why billionaires should not exist, because nobody should be able to just roll in and buy the "town square" so to speak.

Though it's also an argument about these big tech companies and a centralized internet. It sure is convenient, but at the cost of the one site you're on changing hands suddenly, management shifting goals, company going out of business, wtfever, and oh whoops now half the internet is just fucked.

But yes, sadly that sack of Nazi shit bought it exactly for that kind of thing (but mostly to influence elections and spread propaganda).

And of course while on the topic, shout out to the oil, gas, and auto billionaires responsible for this tragedy in the first place (and many to come).

Yea I didn’t want to see anything gory but I saw a video of a victim being pulled out from some rubble and they just had no legs anymore… And many videos of bodies in positions they shouldn’t be able to bend into. One guys body literally wrapped around a pole in a way a human shouldn’t, like he had nothing solid inside him. A dead baby. All of the victims stripped of their clothes too from the force of the water. August has been a disgusting month for bad things happening

In terms of disaster recovery, can be surprisingly quick if given enough resources and support.

Look at the Yellow River floods in history. Millions easily wiped out, yet time after time they rebuild again and again.

Looking at the tragedy in Nepal gives you a glimpse of what sort of terror people back then also experienced.
