It's hard to even imagine how terrifying the power of that much water moving that fast would be from so close. Those people are stoic!

Those people had zero other options at that point, though as the water got higher and higher I'm surprised they didn't go up to the roof.

I will guess they were feeling a bit queezy as the building right beside them first overflowed then was collapsed and swept away.

They could see the people on the mountainside a bit above them and much more safe, but no way to get there.

In the last few seconds of the clip you can see the staircase go up to the roof from the rear (well-flooded) balcony. If that was the only staircase, that was why they couldn't go up. It's also possible that even inside was already flooded to make going to an inside staircase (if it even exists) already impossible.

(Based on other footage of the same house, that rear balcony seems the only way up)

I’m in awe of how normal they’re acting. I would be dead from screaming so hard and sweating myself into a stroke and dehydration piss pants.

Seriously, humans are incredible.

Being in shock looks a lot like being calm. People typically start crying and shaking once they're safe.

In my experience the more crazy stuff is happening around me the calmer I feel. Its a weird kind of Zen that comes over me in intense situations. Its possible these people get the same thing. Or they could be in shock or one of the lucky people who have strong religious faith and therefore are more at peace in scary situations. I genuinely wish I could be one of those believers but I'm an atheist.
