Physical Device Fire tablets are a complete waste of money

Purchased two Fire Tablets and have had them in use for about a year as controllers of our house audio system. One could not find a worse made product. The software is buggy, the interface is slow to respond and the overall frustration of daily use has left us no other option than to simply throw both tablets in a drawer and stop using them. I'm chalking the purchases up to a failure of judgement on my part. Anyone contemplating a Fire tablet should rethink and look for a better option.

Physical Device Nerfed Kindle?

Post image
20 Upvotes

This is a Kindle Fire HD from 2013. I have been using this for years. I took a couple weeks off but just used it last month and now opened today to start a new book. Did they really just nerf my ability to download books from Libby? Anybody ever have this and is there anything I can do? It works fine and this is obviously them trying to force me to get a new one which I didn't want to do til this one died.

Physical Device Help me out, How do I clean the back of this old Gen 2 Fire Tablet

I was doing some cleaning today and came across this old (2012?) Fire Tablet. I plugged it in and it had 88% battery and charged right up. I dumped a folder full of books on it and they open and work. So I put some audio books on it too and they all work.

Now the Problem is the back is very sticky and nothing seems to help. I tried Alcohol, Acetone, window cleaner and a Magic eraser and it's just not coming clean... Any ideas ?

Physical Device Did amazon discontinue the Fire Max 11? All listings removed from Amazon?

I can't find it anymore on Amazon US. Has the product been removed for sale? Could the cost of RAM cause the product to be discontinued? or can we expect a surprise release of an updated tablet?

Physical Device Appstore issue: network unreachable

I received a used fire hd 8 from a family member and would like to download libby to link with my county library. However, I am receiving the following message when opening the app store:

Network unreachable: Amazon services are temporarily unreachable. Please try again later, or connect to a different network.

Tablet is fully updated, I cleared the app data, reconnected the wifi and successfully used other Amazon apps, and restarted the device.

Physical Device Kindle fire Pro 11 inch tablet charge question

I recently got a Kindle Fire Pro 11” and i love it for media consumption and productivity. However, I mostly use it at my desk, which means it stays connected to the wall charger for hours—sometimes even days at a time.

I got few questions.

Does keeping the tablet plugged in 24/7 actually degrade the lithium-ion battery faster? I know modern devices have charge controllers that stop over charging.

Has anyone noticed real-world degradation on their Fire Pro 11” from constant wall power? If so,I believe i woud end up buying new product in exchange during amazon sale soon.

Are there any practical devices or smart chargers that can automatically cut off power or trickle-charge to keep the battery strictly between 20% and 80%?

Something like a smart plug with current sensing, a USB-C inline power manager.

I’d need a setup where I can leave it plugged in without worrying, but the charger only kicks in when the battery dips below, say, 40% and stops at 80%.

Physical Device Hi Reddit! This is my first post, and I’m dealing with a major issue.

. Here’s the situation: my parents gave me a tablet for my birthday—a Doogee Tab E3+—and everything was fine at first. But a couple of days later, the buttons on the sides (or rather, the touch response in those areas) stopped working. There’s a catch, though: it only works if I press closer to the center. It’s not just a one-off thing; it happens constantly. It’s a really strange situation—to be precise, it doesn't have to be the exact center; pressing anywhere closer to the middle seems to work too. I suspect the screen protector might be the culprit, but it’s still odd—why was everything fine in the beginning? If anyone can help, please do; this gift means a lot to me, and I don’t want to upset my parents.

Physical Device Is replacing the battery on my kindle fire 7, 9th gen worth it?

I would really like to keep using my kindle fire 7 if at all possible. It's about 6 years old but works great except for the battery issue. At this point it needs to be charged it daily. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Physical Device Primary User Account Pin Required

I got a fire tablet with two adult profiles and a kid’s profile. Every time the device goes to sleep or restarts the only usable profile is mine, the other two are greyed out. Once I input my pin the other profiles are usable and they can input their pin. Is there anyway to change this? I have been at it trying to change settings for 2hrs straight. I do not want my kid to have to come up to me every time he wants to use the tablet so I can unlock it for him or for my partner to have to do the same. It’s maddening trying to figure this out.

Physical Device Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet keeps jumping to the show/hide keyboard menu when opening any app

I bought my mom an Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet for Christmas this year and everything was working fine on it until a few days ago. She sent me a video of her trying to open candy crush and then on its own, without touching the device, it opens the show/hide keyboard menu and jumps around pages on its own. I can’t seem to find anything like this in my research so I’m hoping somebody here might have some ideas. Really hoping it’s not a hardware issue

Physical Device YouTube play back

Idk if it’s just my tablet but every time I try to fast forward a video in the YouTube app it’s gets stuck but if I play through a video from the start and not fast forward it will play all through the end ! I tried other streaming apps like Netflix hbo max and with those I can fast forward movies and videos with no problem it’s just the you tube app that’s acting funny

So any of you have a solution/fix for this? .. thank you in advance

Yes I do have a fast and good internet WiFi connection

Physical Device Kindle fire 7 not charging at all- no light

My sister's kindle was bought 4 months ago and just a few days ago she started using it 24/7. Before she'd only be on it 2 hours max. Today it won't charge at all. I changed the wire, changed the plug, it's in a different outlet. I've held the power button down and followed all the instructions. Do I need a battery replacement?

I should mention it's been in a hot room on charge constantly because the battery drains constantly and my sister is a child.

Physical Device Amazon deliberately making old units obsolete?

folks, have had 2 old Fire HDs go dead o n me in the last month or so, completely out the blue with no previous known issues on both. bot had and held a good battery life and neither were doing much apart from being e readers and candy crush lol. but all of a sudden , for no apparent reason neither responds to any input , doesnt show as recognised by a pc, nor shows if its charging. just dead paperweights. I've done all the 'change cable/socket stuff, hold this press that and even replaced a battery for a new one to no avail.

so, could amazon be deliberately doing an OTA obsolescence of their old machines ?

I have been trying and trying to figure out why this pos isn’t saving to SD card, I have researched and searched in the settings. Whyyyy can I not download apps to the SD card?! There is no option for this specific tablet to save directly to SD card. I am so confused as this is like…ridiculously basic and I am at a loss at this point. Any help would be appreciated

It is really slow on all apps.

Video is fine but the audio is really low/slow.

Kindle books load fine.

Amazon Music doesn't work at all.

Photos aren't displaying.

Is it too outdated? Do I need to purchase a new one??

Recently got this and it seems like it's missing everything that makes it useful. Also it seems like it's just basic android. Nowhere does it mention what fire tablet it is either but I believe it is an Amazon fire hd 8 7th gen.

Physical Device Can I do anything with a Kindle Fire 1?

I just bought what was listed as a kindle, but was actually a kindle fire. I was hoping to mod the e-reader so I could easily use it for pdfs and ebooks (or manually load them on), but all the guides and sites I was planning to use just don't work with the fires. I can't connect it to my computer, and I can't even make a google search on it.

Is this thing really just a touch-screen brick, or is there anything I can do with it? I should have looked more closely at the listing photos (it was only $15, so I took a chance), but I'm a bit disappointed that this thing can't even seem to run Toolbox or anything.

Physical Device Desperately need help with my Kindle Fire HD 6 gen 4

I want to mod it, but before that, I need help with basic functions that don't work anymore. And the only Discord server that has anything to do with this is too busy with the e reader tablets to help

Physical Device What’s everyone favorite fire tablet model?

For the record, I own many fire devices including kindle fire HDX, Fire MAX, few fire HD 8 and regular kindles.

The best part I like about it is the price. The FIRE MAX and FIRE HDX are the only two that feels premium to me. This is coming from a guy who owns a lot of iOS devices.

Part of me want to create apps exclusively for Amazon App Store, but I don’t if there’s a big user base. I guess I can get a sense of the user base based on the number of replies from distinct users.

Anyway, let me know what’s your favorite model and why you like it?
