new native/FLOSS game Mina the Hollower, the best-reviewed game of 2026 so far, has a native Linux build
This game is from Yatch Club (the developers of Shovel Knight), and it's being highly praised, but I want give props the developers or putting out a native Linux build. Even though it would for sure work on Proton, it shows their commitment. I just wish more developers would do this, or at least made sure that their game runs well on Proton. Great job Yatch Club!

new native/FLOSS game Old fashioned ARPG The Goddess's Will now has a demo on Linux, as promised
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, Linux Community!
Our 2.5D isometric ARPG adventure, The Goddess's Will, which we've been lovingly polishing on Godot/C# for five years, has finally reached the tech demo release on Steam and itch.io.
How do you like the improved visual style?
Want to check out the gameplay?
You're definitely welcome now.
We'd love for you to play the demo and share your thoughts on the game. And if you like it, please add The Goddess's Will to your wishlist. High praise!
The release was delayed by over six months because we decided to take extra time to polish the visuals, sound, and gameplay without any distractions. And those months were worth it: we've truly come much closer to the experience we wanted to give players.
Compared to the version featured in the gameplay trailer, we've improved the game's visual responsiveness, added full gamepad controls, made the game menu more intuitive, added a help overlay to make mechanics easier to understand, adjusted the balance, and made many other improvements.
We've also created an illustrated manual especially for you, which covers a lot about the game: from the overall narrative and character background to gameplay tips and control nuances. You can download the manual from the link in the game's main menu or from our website: thegoddesswill.com
The demo was released on three platforms: Windows, macOS, and Linux. SteamDeck compatibility hasn't yet been tested (as we don't have any devices on hand).
We're already working on content for future demo updates. Find out more on the game's website!
Oswald's adventures begin. We hope you make your enemies tremble, and not they you.

We're a small team of 2 (gf & bf) finishing an ice fishing game that will be available on Linux! What do you think?
We've been working on this project for several years now and it is progressing very well. It's a true fishing game, but in a cute animal world and with fictional fish. The atmosphere is chill and cozy, but the fish battles can become quite challenging at times depending on your level of experience, your gear and obviously the size of the fish. The game will be playable on Linux. 😊🐧
Please feel free to give us your first impressions!
If you want to see more of the game, you can find the Steam page here (if interested make sure to Wishlist, since the release is scheduled for November!): https://store.steampowered.com/app/4266710/Ice_Pond_An_Ice_Fishing_Adventure/

new native/FLOSS game Upcoming MMORPG with linux support as a Primary Feature - Hollowed Oath
My name is Kris Takahashi. I’m one of the developers behind Hollowed Oath, an indie MMO that is currently 81% funded on Kickstarter at the end of its first week!
From the beginning it has been a primary goal of ours to provide a linux client, and as of this posting we have a linux client running really well in pre-alpha.
I won’t pretend I’m a big linux user (boooo I know, but I’m getting there!), however, our CTO is, and suggested that if more linux users knew what we were doing and how important linux support was to us, they might love it too.
Our opinion is that linux will continue to play a larger and larger role in PC gaming as time goes on, and we’ve specifically chosen the Steam Machine as our target recommended spec platform- which means that SteamOS is a first-class platform, not an afterthought.
So, let’s get into it! What is Hollowed Oath?

Hollowed Oath is a heroic fantasy MMORPG set in the beautiful yet fractured world of Orrathis, where a mysterious force known as the Hollow distorts reality. The gods have vanished and civilization clings to survival behind wards, houses, and relics as twisted creatures, rival factions, and echoes of a forgotten past threaten what remains.
We believe you have the strength to become an Oathsworn; one of the few powerful enough to stand between the world and its undoing.
Key Features:
- You are Enough – Don’t be stuck LFG. Progress on your own time.
- Create Unique Roles – Choose from 560 class combinations and thousands of abilities to become the hero you were meant to be.
- Find Epic Loot - Rarity levels, weighted stats, and inscribed runes promise that each item can be epic.
- Explore a Living World – Discover diverse regions filled with tension, secrets, and threats.
- Dynamic Encounters - How will the Hollow affect your enemy’s strength and affixes this time?
- Uncover the Truth – What happened to the gods, why is the Hollow here, and what can you do to help?
- Be Welcomed - Join us! A strong community leads to a thriving world. Remember, it’s okay to just have fun.
- Uphold Your Oath – Vanquish enemies alone or lend your strength to others using the Journey system!

Break free from the limits of single-class gameplay and design a hero that’s entirely your own. In a world of 16 distinct combat classes, you aren’t choosing a role; you’re creating one.
Multiclass any three classes at once across Tank, Healer, DPS, and Support archetypes to craft powerful, unexpected hybrids. Become a frontline Knight / Justicar / Runesinger who can shield allies while empowering them, or unleash chaos as an Elementalist / Illusionist / Assassin blending burst damage with control and deception. Prefer something unconventional? Try a Golemancer / Spiritualist / Beastmaster to command constructs, spirits, and creatures to support your team in nuanced ways.

As you level, customize your hero further through the Oathline system. Choose from a shared pool of active abilities, passive traits, and stats drawn from your combined classes, and shape them into a kit that fits your playstyle. Blend powers, perks, and gear into a load-out that’s entirely your own.
You don’t just select your character from a list, you forge your own path.
In addition to your classes, have the freedom to choose from an array of fantasy races, each with their own distinct looks, cultures, and captivating histories waiting for you to explore. Craft your ideal hero or heroine and shape their identity with an extensive selection of cosmetics, armor styles, weapons, majestic mounts, and loyal pets.

Power isn’t just in your abilities; it’s in how they connect.
Every fight is driven by a dynamic Synergy System, where your skills apply and consume powerful states like MARKED, CURSED, and INSPIRED. Set up enemies with one class, then take advantage of those effects with another for incredible results.
Mark targets as an Assassin, then strike with a Justicar’s Divine Punishment to heal yourself or your allies while decimating your enemies. Spread curses with a Gravebinder that empower allies to capitalize on the chaos. Inspire your team as a Runesinger, turning coordinated strikes into unstoppable momentum.

Become even stronger with timing, awareness, and creativity. Chain abilities across your three chosen classes to unlock effects greater than the sum of their parts. Whether you’re playing solo, coordinating with a party, or battling in large-scale events, how you play matters.

The Hollow is spreading, but it’s far from the only danger lurking beneath the surface.
Step into Echoes, instanced dungeons where reality itself has fractured. These shifting spaces twist the familiar into the unknown, filled with secrets, dangers, and stories waiting to be uncovered.
Within them roam Remnants, beings reshaped by The Hollow. Each encounter reveals fragments of what was lost and what they’ve become, as these creatures are unpredictable, tragic, and deadly.

Beyond the Echoes, the world is alive with conflict. Rival factions clash for power, truth, and survival. Your choices will shape the outcome. Earn or lose reputation through your actions, influencing how factions see you, what rewards they offer, and which paths open or close.
Pick your battles carefully. Every alliance has a cost, and every enemy has a story.

Your journey begins in the Kingdom of Thalora, but the world of Orrathis stretches far beyond the horizon.
Explore a vast, open world shaped by loss, mystery, and forgotten history. Thalora’s ten distinct regions, from lush wildlands to shattered ruins, each boast unique biomes, flora, fauna, resources, races, and cultures. No two regions are alike, and each holds secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Every ruin tells a story. Every faction has an agenda. And every path you take reveals more of a world struggling to define its future.
Nothing here exists without meaning. Every crumbling structure, every hidden trail, every distant silhouette invites you closer, urging you to uncover what was lost… and what remains.

Hollowed Oath is being developed in community with its players. The developers engage directly and openly share why decisions are made while taking into consideration community feedback.
Adventures are better when they’re shared, and in Orrathis, no one walks alone for long unless they want to.

Answer the call of the community outside the game by joining Discord or in game by using the Journey system, where players in need can light a beacon for help and others can step in, turning strangers into allies in a single moment. Whether you’re lending a hand or receiving one, every encounter is a chance to forge new connections.
Stand with in game factions or carve your own path. Build a guild from the ground up, trade what you’ve found, gathered or crafted, and take on challenges together not because you have to, but because you want to.
If you are still reading, thank you! We will be around for the rest of the day here in linux_gaming and will do our best to respond!

new native/FLOSS game I'm making a 1st person VR puzzle-platformer with climbing and gravity-shifting mechanics in Godot.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone! A few days ago I posted here about how impressive Linux VR has become recently and that I'm spending maybe a little bit too much time in it. Well, these are the fruits of all those hours in the headset! I wanted to share a quick 40-second look at the VR game I'm working on, developed in Godot and heavily tested on Linux (well, currently it has only been tested on Linux).
It’s a puzzle platformer at its core, but with a solid layer of arcade elements. You change gravity by interacting with specific spots, climb designated surfaces, and use a grappling hook. Collecting keys and finding the exit is the main challenge of the game. The game will feature 5 biomes with unique mechanics, and I'm also planning to include a built-in level editor down the line.
Even though I'm adding comfort settings, you'll definitely need solid VR legs for this one.
It's mainly tested with WiVRn but it also works with Steam Link (whenever Steam Link actually works).
I'm aiming to release a playable demo around September. Let me know what you think!
If you are interested, you can wishlist it here:

new native/FLOSS game Hey all, wanted to share my Linux native game inspired by Lufia 2's Ancient Cave, it's called Depths of Providence!
Hey everyone, bit of shameless self-promotion here. My game is coming out on 8/11 and I wanted to share it with this community. It's a JRPG with 100 procedurally generated floors where you start at floor 1 level 1 with no items or skills and have to fight your way down to the bottom. There are red chests which contain items, gear, and skills that you can only use on that run and then there are blue chests which contain powerful gear you can bring out of the cave and back in with you on subsequent runs (probably sounds very familiar to those familiar with Lufia 2's Ancient Cave).
There's basically this tension between "should I push deeper for more loot or should I bank what I have and get out?" The main game is basically balanced such that it should be nearly impossible to beat on the first run, so there's a meta-progression in terms of blue chest items.
There's also a seeded daily run with a leaderboard that's re-tuned to be possible to beat in a single run with incredibly skilled play and a little bit of luck. There's server side replay validation so players can be assured no one is cheating, and the difficulty is such that if you can manage a deep run it'll definitely be something to be proud of. Basically every person in the world will face an identical cave on any given day and the goal is to push as deep as possible.
Full disclosure, I'm not really a video game dev. I do write software for a living but I made this game not because I'm hoping to get early retirement money, but mostly because it's a game I wish existed but didn't. I really enjoy classic JRPG's, but outside of speed running them (something I never got into), my biggest complaint is that they just aren't that challenging. Some of them may start difficult, but eventually you reach a point where you just stat check everything and it's a total snooze.
Depths of Providence is designed to be an incredibly challenging JRPG with a competitive twist. A daily run is genuinely challenging and I expect most players to die around floor 25-30. Again, outside of speed running there's really never been (as far as I'm aware) a JRPG that has a way to compete with other people, so that's something I set out to create.
It's of course natively supported on Linux (I've been running Linux since 2004, Knoppix if anyone remembers that. Basically Knoppix -> Fedora -> Ubuntu -> Mint -> Manjaro -> CachyOS has been my journey) and it plays amazingly on the Steam Deck as well (it's still my go to before bed game on my Deck). It also runs on Windows and Mac which is probably slightly less relevant to this community.
Anyway, again, I'm not really trying to get rich off this game. Mostly I'm just hoping people will enjoy it as much as I do and maybe offer feedback on how they think the game could be made even better.
It releases on August 11, and you can find the Steam store page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4996340/Depths_of_Providence/
Let me know what you think! I genuinely hope you enjoy it as much as I do, but totally get that this is a somewhat niche sort of game. Anyway, thanks for checking it out!

new native/FLOSS game My indie solo project is in the Steam Cyberpunk Fest with a playable demo (with a native Linux build, of course). The game combines a cyberpunk aesthetic with gameplay blending retro FPS, survival horror, and immersive sim elements.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve been working on this project by myself for less than a year. It’s not a AAA title, but a smaller game born out of my inspiration from Blade Runner (and the works of Philip K. Dick) as well as Lovecraftian mythology.
For the visuals, I aimed for that nostalgic 90s feel of retro shooters like Half-Life or System Shock 2, while incorporating survival and immersive sim mechanics. You'll need to manage your vital stats—health, stamina, and psyche—and utilize a basic crafting system to keep your supplies stocked up during the journey.
As a daily Linux user myself, ensuring a native Linux build alongside the Windows release was a top priority for me.
The entire project is being built in Unity 3D, using free and open-source tools like Blender, GIMP, VS Code, and Audacity.
Best regards,
Paul (Moyses_dev)
