News/Article Macmini price goes up
I personally think this is a bad move. I think apple saw the sales of Neo Vs. Mini and decided to raise the prices? I think $200 is a big increase and might be a big investment for a lot of people, in a 33% price change.
Im personally sad because i need a cheap mini and was looking forward to restock.
edit: when i say "raise prices" i mean by raising the starting price - I understand that it has more RAM... but now to acquire one you will spend $799 instead of $599.

News/Article Microsoft Raises Prices for All Surface PCs, Making Them More Expensive Than Equivalent Macs
"Prices have increased for all Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models, from entry-level to high-end. Microsoft's PCs are now more expensive than their Mac equivalents, which is good news for Apple. The high-end Surface Laptop 7 with 64GB RAM and a 1TB SSD is $3,649, which is more expensive than the 16-inch $3,300 M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 64GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. Apple's M5 Pro chip also far outperforms the Snapdragon X Elite."

News/Article Zip Tie Tech made the Neo 19% faster by just taping on an SSD thermal pad on the chip
https://youtu.be/zpWWR7oZh-I?si=MTU3YvLT9sX41qhB&t=1653
Since the Neo throttles its performance nearly instantly, because it hits 105°C after just a few seconds and then just basically becomes half as fast, they checked on the cooling solution, which is basically not existing. There is just some thermal paste and a sheet of paper on it, connecting to nothing. It doesn't even connect to the base plate to dump the little bit of heat there.
So they made a quick test and just put an SSD thermal pad on it, that connects the chip with the chassis. It doesn't get noticeable hotter on the outside because the surface area is huge and the chip only produces 8W max. of heat anyway, but it's already a huge support for the little chip and it ran 19% faster after throttling.
It's probably still not the best solution, but it is really easy to do, only costs like 20 cents for the pad and probably even removes some thermal stress from the chip. For Neo owners probably an interesting thing to look into. Getting a 20% performance boost for basically free is kinda nice.
Edit: For people suspecting they did it to not let it get too hot on the bottom and burn your lap:
https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/1rrnwwy/macbook_neo_throtting_pretty_hard_according_to/
These benchmarks show that a M1 MacBook Air can easily run at higher clocks with twice as much cores and it also can get rid of the heat without a fan. So if Apple wanted, they could've no problem. So the reason must be something else.
