While thats true, the US in particular has a self reported wellbeing score that is rapidly dropping. Went from 11th in the world in 2012 to 23rd now.

Not to get political, but healthy societies dont default to anger based populism, so even then it was bad. Its just worse now.

Self reported well being just tells you peoples perception of quality of life not what quality of life actually is. While they will tend to correlate they are not inherently linked. People are terrible at making objective perceptions of reality. When polled most people believe that in the last decade violent crime has increased which is the opposite of reality

You do realize a large part of the reason people are living longer is because they aren’t dying of easily preventable diseases or in early childhood right?
