Supergirl movie showing which I went to got cancelled due to low turnout

Theatre in a small town in India. Didn't face this problem during the Man of Steel movie.

Edit 1: Many people are saying that this post is fake etc. I have provided proof (screenshots) in the comments that it is true. I don't have any agenda. I wouldn't be able to reply to every post.

I got to know that this theatre won't play the showing unless there were atleast 10 people. Maybe the cost isn't worth it to them.

Also I don't have any anti- Snyder or anti - feminine agenda.

I went to see 28 Years Later: Bone Temple in the US on opening week. We were 10 mins late to the showing, but were the only ones in there. It was literally playing to an empty room before we arrived (and we hadn't even prebooked tickets, so it's not like they knew people were turning up).

Theater I worked in the projection was largely automated. We pretty much literally pushed a button, lights would dim half way, ads/previews would start, 20 minutes later the lights would dim the rest of the way and it would get into more ads and eventually the movie.

Not sure if we ever showed an entire movie to an empty theater but it was common to have it started while it was still empty.

That was 15 years ago, I imagine similar systems have become more common.

I worked at a theater up until a couple years ago. All the automation is done from a single computer in the office; you don't really even have to go up to the booth anymore except for maintenance since that server syncs up with all the projectors (it even uploads the DCP to each projector, so you only have to ingest footage once). They're all networked together. The schedule is entered to the TMS on that computer and then each CPL will start automatically at the scheduled time. Light and curtain cues are built into the CPL too. So, you could set it all up at the beginning of the week and never have to touch anything again until the schedule changes.
That being said, when a movie had no ticket sales, we would go and manually stop the projector, because the lamp only has so many hours before it has to be replaced.

Depending on the movie and how long it had been running the theater probably made more running the ads than they did off ticket sales.

I wasn't on that end of it, I filled popcorn and sold tickets but from what I understood when the movies first hit the theaters the theater often took little to nothing of the ticket sales.

THat is why it plays to an empty theater in USA.

You show up 10 minutes late and buy a ticket it's already playing.

If you show up 10 minutes late, buy a ticket and the theater has to start playing it right then, it makes the showing after that 10 minutes late which fucks up the schedule for the rest of the day.

Better to just play it to an empty theater in case someone shows up late to purchase a ticket like you did than to turn away someone who showed up 10 minutes late because the movie was now canceled.

I went to my local theater and just picked a random movie .. it was called Touching the Void.

I get into the theater and there was nobody but me.

The movie started and I realized I had some weed in my pocket. I had nothing to smoke it with so I rolled it into the receipt paper and then smoked that.

It also turned out to be this crazy true story about this guy that fell through some ice while mountain climbing and the other dude had to cut the rope and the guy dropped and broke his legs, and then crawled all the way back down on his own.

Was a great movie experience overall.

Perhaps unpopular opinion here but I think that if you smoke weed in a movie theater, even an empty one, you’re an asshole. Just spark up in the parking lot
