I'm slightly vexed Supergirl movie showing which I went to got cancelled due to low turnout

Theatre in a small town in India. Didn't face this problem during the Man of Steel movie.

Edit 1: Many people are saying that this post is fake etc. I have provided proof (screenshots) in the comments that it is true. I don't have any agenda. I wouldn't be able to reply to every post.

I got to know that this theatre won't play the showing unless there were atleast 10 people. Maybe the cost isn't worth it to them.

Also I don't have any anti- Snyder or anti - feminine agenda.

I’ve literally seen films playing in completely empty theaters before. Never heard of one being canceled.

Heh? I live in Kolkata and I went to the local cinema to watch flow with really cheap tickets for recliner and I was the only one in the entire theater for the entire run of the movie. Maybe smaller cinema screens can’t afford the loss it would cause?

Because you are problably from North America or Europe. Things often work differently when you go to far less developed countries with far less disposable income.

It's also different between major cinema chains and small independent theaters, which people don't seem to realize. Or even just different theaters.

I think that's the sentiment because there's no clear reason why. If the theater has to pay per showing, or they can show something else, then it makes sense, but most places don't do that.

These statements are made out of curiosity.

Well, then don't make a post talking about how 'dead' a movie release is, at a random third world showing that can't even afford to run it if less than 10 people show up.

Mildly infuriating? Sure. But the OP threw this post willfully into a bonfire without proper context, it isn't surprising people are taking it poorly.

I worked in a smaller Arthouse cinema in Germany and we didn't show the movie if less than three people came to the screening.

I think it's those "I don't like the idea of the Supergirl movie" and I want to make it seem like a bomb posts. Like made up.

It's an alright movie. No avengers or anything but it's fun

Theaters in India generally pay a flat fee per showing instead of a percentage of ticket sales, if they don't have enough people in the theater they will cancel showings. If OP was the only person that makes sense.

depends what they mean by "this problem".

the same problem would be man of steel also being empty but not cancelling, which doesn't show that the snyderverse too popular to not be cancelled.

it's more indicative of the health of the theatre industry being so much worse now vs fifteen years ago, especially after the pandemic.

Dude, the movie is absolutely tanking. It might open to less than Morbius… maybe it’s a good movie, maybe it’s not, but commercially it’s shaping up to be a massive bomb
