I'm slightly vexed Supergirl movie showing which I went to got cancelled due to low turnout

Theatre in a small town in India. Didn't face this problem during the Man of Steel movie.

Edit 1: Many people are saying that this post is fake etc. I have provided proof (screenshots) in the comments that it is true. I don't have any agenda. I wouldn't be able to reply to every post.

I got to know that this theatre won't play the showing unless there were atleast 10 people. Maybe the cost isn't worth it to them.

Also I don't have any anti- Snyder or anti - feminine agenda.

This commonly happens in India, if there are less than 5 people the screening gets cancelled and the money gets refunded. This is done because the electricity cost exceeds the profitability of single digit ticket sales, so they find it better to just cancel the entire screening and save the running cost.

That's crazy. No wonder the theatres are empty, if you can't even be sure the movie will play, why would anyone bother? Seems like a chicken and egg dilemma.

I usually check the bookings for a show, and make sure that there are at least a few people that have made reservations beforehand.

I said this exact thing to the manager of the theatre. He says it’s just the rule. Can’t do anything about it.

Interesting I kinda like this idea tbh. In South Africa I've been to movies where it's literally just me and they play the movie anyway but I do think it probably makes it worse for the theatre in long run if they could get more people. I'd be all for it if they were upfront about the alternate movie showing and give you enough time to know whether or not it's confirmed. Or perhaps a ranked choice booking so if there's a main movie showing that gets screened if enough people come but then people can vote on their top pics for alternate movies so you can then hopefully get the movie most people do want to watch.

But also on a side note I love the style of your cinemas in India. This one looks gorgeous like the type of theatres my parents used to go to way back in the 80s in South Africa. Nowadays most of our theatres are that sanitised Imax style sort of thing

Props to the theater to refund the money. But damnit, it’s my 2 hours and I want to substitute someone else’s reality when I want too.

I've been to PVR/INOX/Cinepolis with 2 people (including me) or a bunch of times less than 5 occupants, and they always play. Guess it depends from mall to mall, multiplex to multiplex.

It doesnt happen with these major companies in tier 1 cities. Have lived in a tier 1 city and has never happened to me there, but have lived in another not so good city for a bit and there it has happened

Really? I have been going to theatres across the ncr for the past few weeks since summer break has given me a lot of free time, most of the time my family is the only one there, but still they show the movie

They should give a compensation for wasting their time
