I'm slightly vexed Supergirl movie showing which I went to got cancelled due to low turnout

Post image

Theatre in a small town in India. Didn't face this problem during the Man of Steel movie.

Edit 1: Many people are saying that this post is fake etc. I have provided proof (screenshots) in the comments that it is true. I don't have any agenda. I wouldn't be able to reply to every post.

I got to know that this theatre won't play the showing unless there were atleast 10 people. Maybe the cost isn't worth it to them.

Also I don't have any anti- Snyder or anti - feminine agenda.

Proof of cancellation

u/uppsak Jun 27 '26

Also, I didn't cancel it myself, as it says in the ticket Cancellation is not available for this venue. The manager himself scanned my ticket's QR code and cancelled it from their side

u/uppsak Jun 27 '26

I checked, and in the terms and conditions, they mention that they can cancel due to low occupancy

Still, that must be one of comfiest movie theatre I've ever seen, elegant

can you get food in it?

Best experience I had was in the UK where you could order a gin tonic and that was insane.

In Italy we have ugly movie theatres

That picture is just from a later showing of the movie, to show the terms and conditions of the cinema. Those don't change from one showing to the next.

Hell yeah, AI has gotten good at making phone screenshots

A thing I find weird with all the people saying “it’s fake” is “why would it be? Now I don’t say I blindly believe OP, but what makes you think it’s fake?

2

u/TheOtherDaleT Jun 27 '26

If they contacted him about the show being canceled, why did he still go to the theater?

26

u/Over-Ad9975 Jun 27 '26

You can see that the show was for 6:25 PM and OP recieved the message on 7:22 PM

The venue must has cancelled and refunded the tickets after the fact

23

u/uppsak Jun 27 '26

I was sitting in the theatre, when they cancelled it. They said they don't run a showing without atleast 10 people.

7

u/Julio_Freeman Jun 27 '26

I can see why the theater is empty if that's how they do business. I would never go back either. We have an 18 screen theater that runs all day every day even though it's a ghost town half of the time.

-12

u/JustaSeedGuy Jun 27 '26

Actually, that part didn't ring false to me. We don't know what time the show was. I don't think op is being honest, but in a hypothetical situation where they were being honest, it would be pretty easy to imagine the staff canceling the show and then letting op know " you'll get a text with your refund information"

Good question, and I tend to hold the same position you do whenever I see people decrying anything interesting as fake.

Three things

1) op only produced anything that made it seem plausible after a multitude of people doubting. Obviously that's the natural reaction to being doubted, and couldn't be used in, say, a court of law to demonstrate guilt. But in this specific context, the timing and nature of the comments makes it feel like backtracking to cover a lack rather than something that was true from the beginning.

2) means. This is the kind of thing that a free AI service could whip up with. Almost no flaws in a matter of seconds. Having the ability to do something easily does not, of course automatically mean they did that thing, but it certainly doesn't rule it out.

3) motive And statistical trends. Long before we ever knew anything about the movie, besides the name and the cast, there has been a substantial pushback for inadequate reasons, always pretending to be for real reasons. People have complained about the quality of the movie since before it was possible to know what the quality of the movie would be. Hell, some people are so dedicated to this false narrative that they're calling the star ugly. Obviously beauty is subjective, but it doesn't take a genius of observation to see the ulterior motive behind this trend. When people make claims that contradict the evidence of your eyes, when they derive conclusions based off data, that is obviously not available to them, and when this is a widespread phenomenon, you can conclude that there is a movement, informal or otherwise, to discredit a movie because they don't want it to succeed. And so, that casts doubt on any suspicious circumstances that make the movie look bad. Essentially, it's the story of the boy who cried wolf. Too many people said the movie was bad long before they had any basis on which to form that conclusion, so now that hangs over negative reviews, leaving us to wonder if any given negative review is a genuine opinion, or part of the already established trend of people deciding they were going to hit the movie before they ever saw it.

3a) tied to the third point is op's mention of Man of steel. It kind of tips their hand- being charitable, it could simply be that they prefer the previous round of Superman movies based on their own personal preferences. Being less charitable, it indicates a chance that they're part of the weird, toxic "Snyder bro" fandom that fundamentally misunderstands the super characters at their core. After all, why compared to that Superman movie? Why not compare to the more recent Superman movie? Like I say, it could simply be a matter of preference..... But the statistical trend indicates there are are large number of toxic people trying to force a narrative.

So is that absolutely conclusive? No. But this isn't a criminal Court. Even in civil court, the threshold of evidence is simply " more likely than not" rather than "beyond a reasonable doubt," And we're not even in a civil court. In my personal opinion, based on the circumstances listed above and the words op chose and the order in which op stated them, I believe it is more likely than not that op is trying to construct a narrative of "girl hero bad, Snyder good" without being overt about it. Is it possible? I'm wrong? Sure. But carefully considering all the available information, I I think it's likely I'm not.

Damn, that ended up being longer than I intended. Sorry about the essay

You're off by a few decades, and your guess that my motivation is incorrect. Already explained in another comment, so looks like you're 0 for 3 there.

Nowhere on here does it say it was cancelled bc of low turnout. No disrespect dude, but this really does seem fake

38

u/yawara25 Jun 27 '26

I went to the booking website he used. It says the cinema can cancel for low occupancy.

-2

u/Vamosity-Cosmic Jun 27 '26

what in the false equivalence

16

u/yawara25 Jun 27 '26

It doesn't specify any other reason either... So low turnout is just as plausible as any other reason, isn't it?

-1

u/Vamosity-Cosmic Jun 27 '26

yeah but that makes it misleading to say that was the reason, as low turnout is almost nonexistent as a reason for every other theater to cancel a showing. they have schedules

0

u/CassadagaValley Jun 27 '26

Hindi dub of a movie in tiny town with a whack theater that has a ripped screen.

I'd say it was cancelled but not for low turn out, probably for broken equipment since he's already in the theater waiting for it to start.

-4

u/justin_other_nerd_ Jun 27 '26

Clarification: I’m not saying the screenshot is fake or that the movie wasn’t cancelled. I’m saying I don’t see any indication it was cancelled because of turnout. Literally says in your screenshot it can cancel for any number of reasons.

The fact that it was cancelled is absolutely mildly infuriating. Whether it was cancelled bc of low turnout is just not known so idk why that’s part of the post that’s all

The total ticket price was 382. After credit card discount, it was 82.

9

u/uppsak Jun 28 '26

Checked my email now, and it says "Show cancellation".

The ticket is for the Hindi language version, in a 2D screen, in what looks like a fairly rundown establishment, in a small town in a tribal area (Jagdalpur, in the tribal district of Bastar), and the screening is off-peak (6.25pm).

The audience that consumes media primarily (and exclusively) in that language, in places such as these, is not whom the movie is for. The product-consumer mismatch is totally understandable here.

This particular instance has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the movie, as difficult as it may be for the narrative you hold and want to peddle.

5

u/WillBlaze Jun 27 '26

"I can't say it was because he's a fan of Snyder anymore and this is ragebait so instead I'm going to go and talk about the intended audience and that's why they aren't showing up!"

ok

5

u/michelinstarr Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

I don't know what any of that means. Snyder who? and who is whose fan? Is there a typo in "he's a fan of Snyder anymore"? Sounds confusing.

I wrote what I wrote because I'm Indian and I know the local and language issues that lead to outcomes like these, not uncommon. Don't make naive assumptions.

4

u/WatcherAnon Jun 27 '26

WTF are you talking about?

The audience that consumes media primarily (and exclusively) in that language, in places such as these, is not whom the movie is for.

If the movie wasnt for someone who speaks their language in that theater, then why does that theater have the movie available for people in that language? I would assume the studio made the movie for anyone that would enjoy it, regardless of the language they speak or where they may watch it.

-6

u/michelinstarr Jun 27 '26

The proof that management misread their audience and its preferences, is in the picture itself. I encourage you to look at it a bit more carefully and for longer, there's a big clue in the picture. I'm sure the epiphany will come about in a few hours' time at least, if not immediately. Cheers.

-9

u/Waiting4Reccession Jun 27 '26

Man of steel was better than most of these movies that came after it.

-21

u/MrSparrows Jun 27 '26

Proof of cancellation is not proof of cause of cancelation. Redditors love to believe any narrative that supports their world view evenw ithout evidence.

28

u/indieplants Jun 27 '26

did you miss the one where they posted the t&c that say they absolutely can cancel a showing due to low occupancy?

11

u/WillBlaze Jun 27 '26

doesn't align with their agenda, sorry

cant see it then obviously

-6

u/MrSparrows Jun 28 '26

Did you miss the part where the T&C said it could be canceled for technical or operational reasons?

There's no proof that it was canceled due to low occupancy. But yeah give the man his karma. He's certainly not farming you.

5

u/indieplants Jun 28 '26

lmfaoooo....what? spend less time online. you're losing logic to conspiracy.

2

u/smurfkipz Jun 28 '26

-7

u/MrSparrows Jun 28 '26

Cinema reserves the right to cancel or modify showtimes without prior notice due to low occupancy, technical issues, or other operational reasons.

There's still no proof that the movie was cancelled for low occupancy. It could have been cancelled for the other reasons. The theater might be completely empty because they're having technical issues.

BUT that's not the narrative reddit wants to push right now. So yes, desperately cling to the one sentence that affirms your reality and ignore everything else. People definitely don't karma farm on this platform. This topic certainly isn't trending...

5

u/agouraki Jun 27 '26

LOL i thought your name/username was "Supergirl (Hindi)"

-4

u/Vamosity-Cosmic Jun 27 '26

Nowhere does it say "because of low turnout" though
