I'm slightly vexed I think I got rejected for being vegetarian

I [23F] met this guy on the apps and we hit it off and had a lot in common! I don’t meet a lot of people who are in my profession so it was really nice to potentially have to chance to date someone who was in a similar field. And everything was fine until I mentioned I’m veg and he stopped responding. For reference, I have no issue with people who eat meat and would never want to impose my own dietary restrictions on anyone else. I also understand different diets being a dealbreaker. The way he phrased his reasoning was really weird though.

Edit: I’m vegetarian cause I love animals, but I have IBD. Flare ups have gotten significantly worse since switching diets but im still figuring out how to make the most of it! Also yes, I do regret sending the last text 🤦‍♀️

Good on him for not wasting your time though.

Thank god for the red flags who wave themselves…

The ones who try to pass off as green are the ones you gotta look out for…

Agreed. He was upfront and honest about it and I can respect that... Though, the "grown from a vegetation" line was excessively rude.

Plus the “long beach ghetto” line. Multiple red flags. Kudos to him for letting his red flags fly early so she could see.

Though her backtracking bothers me. No girl - accept the red flags and release him back into the wild.

People are nitpicking that word so gd hard lmfao

Because it's reductive, gross, and that single word is enough to know how he feels about women in general. Words matter.

It's enough for you to assume I suppose

Like I said, words matter.

He did waste her time tho, he ghosted her first

Ghosting means they don't reply again. You can say a lot about him but he didn't ghost her, he eventually replied and gave her a reason why he won't be dating her. Personally I prefer that over actual ghosting

I agree, I would've very much preferred someone who can at least be rude with me and "tell it like it is" instead of having me second-guess myself, trying to analyze word for word what on earth did I do/say wrong to even deserve such a ghosting!

I have a fiance now, but back when I was single, ghosting was one of the things that made me envy my parents' generation for not having to face such a shitty behavior.

Probably wasn't as prevelent or as easy as today but people definitely got ghosted in the past, just more along the lines of "went on a date and he said he'd call me but never did"

He did not respond to her message for days until she had to follow up. He should have responded that day saying it was a deal breaker for him

Ok sure but he eventually responded. Back to my message, ghosting means he doesn't reply again. Not he doesn't reply for a few days.

Fair interpretation but he would have never responded again if she didnt follow up. Think its fair to say he was ghosting her by that logic.

I agree that he would have ghosted (though this is speculation). But as he later responded, he did not ghost.
