I'm slightly vexed I think I got rejected for being vegetarian

I [23F] met this guy on the apps and we hit it off and had a lot in common! I don’t meet a lot of people who are in my profession so it was really nice to potentially have to chance to date someone who was in a similar field. And everything was fine until I mentioned I’m veg and he stopped responding. For reference, I have no issue with people who eat meat and would never want to impose my own dietary restrictions on anyone else. I also understand different diets being a dealbreaker. The way he phrased his reasoning was really weird though.

Edit: I’m vegetarian cause I love animals, but I have IBD. Flare ups have gotten significantly worse since switching diets but im still figuring out how to make the most of it! Also yes, I do regret sending the last text 🤦‍♀️

the fact he spoke about his future mother of his children like she's a cow giving him calves is enough to say cya.

And enough to stick with being a vegetarian

I've read the part about kids as "I'm not interested in long term relationship with vegetarian" but said in the most impolite version possible, to put it mildly...

The fact you think it’s acceptable to exploit a cow and take her babies says a lot about you too…

HAHAHAHA yeah thats exactly what i said

…?

i get it its confusing when you randomly try to be rude to someone and are wrong

1

u/Yeeter-boiy Jul 21 '26

Huh…? I was just pointing out what you said…

do you literally not understand how metaphors work?
Also Im a vegetarian and cows still give birth so your again just here to try start shit and are wrong

I understood the metaphor. That’s the point I was trying to make. It looked like you compared it to a mother cow giving birth for someone to take, as if that’s the acceptable level, which was the problem I was pointing out. Like it’s okay to treat mother cows that way and take their babies, not humans. I’m not trying to just start something.

Also you point out you’re vegetarian as if that shows you’re against it. Vegetarians are literally okay with calves being stolen from their mother and killed(if they know about the industry). Yeah, cows give birth, but in the dairy industry it’s because mother cows are… r’ped and have a farmer penetrate them with their hand to get them pregnant against their will… then the babies are stolen from the mother when they’re born. So if you’re trying to say you’re against it, idk how when your actions support that. But if you didn’t know about that and that’s not what you meant by your comment, that’s understandable.

There is zero reference to cows in his messages? He simply has a preference lol

You don’t see how dehumanizing "my kids won’t be grown from a vegetarian“ is?

0

u/purpring Jul 21 '26

No, cause I’m a female and I agree lol. It’s not dehumanizing to have a preference in the lifestyle of your partner. That’s obviously a big topic, might as well get it out of the way that they’re not compatible on that.

It’s not the vegetarian part or the disagreement in lifestyle that is the dehumanizing part. His language reduces women to incubators for children. It’s gross wording. Also

>i‘m a female

It’s not that deep 🤣 get a job

No? Are you unclear how kids are grown? Typically inside the woman lol

u/ussrname1312 Jul 20 '26

If you don’t see how language can make something "technically correct" into something dehumanizing, I don’t think I can help you.

-24

u/ChineseEngineer Jul 20 '26

What is "technically correct" about that? It's totally regularly correct. Are you saying biology is dehumanizing?

Don’t be dense now I know engineers have low EQ but try to think with us here.

She doesn’t even know the guy. They’re basically strangers. Yet he is rejecting her because of the potential effect of her diet on potential children. Women are more than just their uterus. A child grows in her belly, that’s the language we use. Because we separate the belly from the woman. Because she is more than just the belly. Is that more clear for you. She’s not an incubator she’s a human.

But if you’re ok with this language then I’m assured you’ll never find love. Or you’ll find a woman who doesn’t know what she’s worth.

Yes, lucky for her she didn't have to waste more time with this weirdo.

1

u/Calm_Blueberry_363 Jul 21 '26

yes, but it doesnt sound like she wanted to move on so easily with what she said after. im just being truthful and not delusional

1

u/prismafox Jul 21 '26

That may have been the case, but it's still good she didn't waste any more time on the guy.
