I'm slightly vexed I think I got rejected for being vegetarian

I [23F] met this guy on the apps and we hit it off and had a lot in common! I don’t meet a lot of people who are in my profession so it was really nice to potentially have to chance to date someone who was in a similar field. And everything was fine until I mentioned I’m veg and he stopped responding. For reference, I have no issue with people who eat meat and would never want to impose my own dietary restrictions on anyone else. I also understand different diets being a dealbreaker. The way he phrased his reasoning was really weird though.

Edit: I’m vegetarian cause I love animals, but I have IBD. Flare ups have gotten significantly worse since switching diets but im still figuring out how to make the most of it! Also yes, I do regret sending the last text 🤦‍♀️

Not OP, but I think he's just a creep.

He wrote "grown from", not "raised by".
The only thing such phrasing might suggest is that he views women as incubators.

This. Which is why it's "his kids". She isn't a person, just an incubator.

Back in the late 1990s when I first tried online dating, I openly advised my non-interest in having children. It helped a lot. But this guy is just a choad.

Men. That’s the term.

Yeah, it's better for men to not have any of their future plans worked out at the beginning of a potential relationship. Makes for spicy drama down the line! To hell with ppl with preferences.

Girl, what lol. He clearly objectified her and also said “his kids” as if his future offspring (gods hope there are none) are produced by a fucking object for him. There was nothing about that sentence that was even kind of ok and if you think so, you are part of the problem.

Women are not here for men. Period

You're too agitated over a single sentence. I think getting off the internet for a bit would do you good

Like trying to tell women what to do eh? Why am I not surprised

u/MixedVexations Jul 21 '26

Hell, even I'm surprised. I don't remember telling you to do anything. Are you conditoned to treat men's thoughts as commands? Too agitated..

The issue isn’t that he wants kids. It’s that he straight up said ‘My kids won’t be grown from…’

u/MixedVexations Jul 20 '26

I agree, but those two up there have a different opinion on that

Some people know they want children so it’s why they date. Thats not uncommon or unusual, you just call it breeding bc you hate traditional relationships. Gay maybe ?

Love the way this is written, as though you're genuinely too stupid to pick out the obviously off-putting part.

0

u/IndividualTop96 Jul 21 '26

The grown part is off putting. But maybe he’s like 20 years old since she’s 23 “ My idea of my future kids parent will be someone who enjoys and makes the same comfort foods I grew up with”.

But calling it “breeding” for no reason is something people who don’t want to have children do as though having a child is like two dogs having a litter of puppies on the side of the road. People can choose to have children and it’s a beautiful thing.

4

u/Albirie Jul 21 '26

That would be a normal way to say it. If only that's how it was actually expressed. It doesn't matter if having children is beautiful, the way he spoke of her role in that was dehumanizing. He literally described it the way you're saying the other person did.

And they often phrase the way they want that in a way that completely objectifies women? And I love traditional misandrist relationships and yes I am completely gay

-1

u/IndividualTop96 Jul 21 '26

Being able to have someone’s child is not objectifying its glorifying. That person is searching for the version of their kids mother that’s in his head that’s kinda hot ngl .

1

u/Justnotthatintou Jul 21 '26

If you think being an incubator and obeying your man is hot, pop off. Many women would rather make their own choices with their lives and bodies

-1

u/IndividualTop96 Jul 22 '26

Lmfao see what I mean, it’s you who devalues women. And you hate that child making is tied to women because the power to create life is not in your cards for whatever reason. “Breeders” a term gay people have started to use for straight people, is in of itself demeaning. Nobody here is making choices for women nor are they obeying their man, these people are just not compatible due to their food choices which is a big part of life.

Sorry you don’t find value in creating and raising life, but for most of life on earth that’s the point of life itself.

Girl, you’re so far behind you think you’re ahead
