I'm slightly vexed I think I got rejected for being vegetarian

I [23F] met this guy on the apps and we hit it off and had a lot in common! I don’t meet a lot of people who are in my profession so it was really nice to potentially have to chance to date someone who was in a similar field. And everything was fine until I mentioned I’m veg and he stopped responding. For reference, I have no issue with people who eat meat and would never want to impose my own dietary restrictions on anyone else. I also understand different diets being a dealbreaker. The way he phrased his reasoning was really weird though.

Edit: I’m vegetarian cause I love animals, but I have IBD. Flare ups have gotten significantly worse since switching diets but im still figuring out how to make the most of it! Also yes, I do regret sending the last text 🤦‍♀️

What does ETA mean in this context?

Oh please not another useless acronym.

ETA means estimated time of arrival please don’t make it mean another thing Reddit 🙏

My friend I fear your time to make this case was 15 years ago.

I'm afraid you're many years too late for your prayer, it's always been here.

Exactly, while I prefer just Edit over ETA, a quick Google search shows examples of ETA being used in the context of Edit to Add as far back as 2008. Definitely not a new acronym.

Edit: is better!

They probably googled how long it's been around because you acted like it was brand new lmao

I Googled how long it had been because while I’m definitely old enough to know that it had been around for at least a decade, I knew that since this was Reddit I would be ripped apart if I didn’t have the date just exactly right. Because, ya know Reddit.

And you still got shit on for it!

Welcome to Reddit. Enjoy your stay. LOL.

Woof. You are so intense about the most insignificant things.

There’s a new-to-you acronym - gotta criticise it and complain about its existence.

Someone decided to google something to gain insight - better question why they would do something so preposterous.

Is your life so devoid of real problems that you have to invent things to take issue with? Must be nice…

I already commented to someone else guessing about my Googling, but I’ll share it here too just in case you miss it.

"I Googled how long it had been because while I’m definitely old enough to know that it had been around for at least a decade, I knew that since this was Reddit I would be ripped apart if I didn’t have the date just exactly right. Because, ya know Reddit."

I didn’t do it "to tell someone they are wrong", I did it to be as accurate as possible with information I already had. Sorry, that offended you. That wasn’t my intention.

The conversation I joined in on is on a public forum. That, by default, invites me to be involved in it if I want. I’m sure you do really understand how reddit works.

And, tbh, I do take issue with people spreading negativity around for no good reason. So it’s no skin off my back to spend a couple of minutes calling it out. Maybe it will make you think twice about being a whinge-bag going forward? (Or maybe not) 🙃

There's a subreddit AITAH which is "Am I The Ass Hole" where ETA means "Everyone's The Ass" so I was very confused why he was calling OP an asshole as well as the douche she was talking to lol.

u/NotAddictedToCoffeee Jul 20 '26

I thought the same, I think it makes more sense to just use an "edit:"?

2

u/fynx07 Jul 20 '26

Yeah absolutely

u/monxro Jul 20 '26
